Gene, you and Doug are the best. It would be so cool to see you two sitting around together carving something similar together, chewing the fat and comparing notes and teaching us all another carving lesson.

Doug is a great teacher and a all around best project designer ..we can all learn from his ideas and technique ....Unfortunately he's up in Canada and Iam down in Texas ..A long way off

Hey Gene, Long time fan, like many others you got me started carving. Got a few years on you, wore glasses since high school and then of course had to get bifocals. Now 78 about year and half ago had trouble reading the scores on the tv, had may eyes checked and then found out need cataract surgery on both eyes. Lasr was almost 1 year ago an wow cannot believe how clear and bright everything is. Did do any corrective things done with the lenses. I told them I like to watch tv, read, and play with my phone at the same time. So have my corrective glasses for far and close and i can tell you have not seen this good in a long time. Not saying that is what your experiencing but the operation is easy and had one eye and then the other 2 weeks later. Also follow doug and most of us part time carvers will not achieve what he does. So thanks for this carving alterative. Your 70 years young. God Bless...... Walt in NJ.

Mr. Messer I've been carving for a little while now and greatly appreciate the videos your making. Also for mentioning and giving credit to the other outstanding carvers on utube. I think I'm getting better at sharpening but not to the point of shaving. Any pointers would appreciated. Thank you

Watch as many carvers as you can on sharpening manuelly as power sharpening ..I myself power sharp with a Ultimate sharpener ..But you can use a harbor freight belt sander as well to do the job ..I have a video of how to do it ..ruclips.net/video/meLirAwM_RI/видео.html
