The Lord of the Rings documentary - Horses and Trainers Say Goodbye

A clip from the documentary “Home of the Horse Lords.” Part of the many, many hours of excellent behind-the-scenes documentaries included with the extended edition of The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
In this segment, the horse trainers reflect on having spent three years working with their animals, before facing the prospect of parting ways. It includes a lovely anecdote about a touching act of generosity by Viggo Mortensen.

That horse of Jane's looks easily like a $100K -$150K horse. Viggo basically purchased a horse the price of a house for Jane. Viggo is a very kind & generous man.

I remember my dad telling me when we watched these movies that he saw how much viggo and his horse were bonded. Past training for movies. And he was spot on with that analysis just from watching them on screen.
