Bunogi you need to know how to solve a 3x3 in order to solve a 4x4. The 3x3 part is after all of the centers match the color scheme and the edges are paired correctly like on a 3x3. So you know how to solve a 3x3.
“The problems of puzzles are very near the problems of life, our whole life is solving puzzles. If you are hungry, you have to find something to eat. But everyday problems are very mixed - they're not clear. The Cube's problem depends just on you. You can solve it independently. But to find happiness in life, you're not independent. Yes, it was. Knowledge is required but can be gained if you lack it (even without internet or tutorials). If one finds it hard to solve a puzzle with nothing but luck one should grab a pen and a piece of paper to write things down on, try to do some moves that does not change to much, take notes about what it did change and then think of how one could use it to solve the puzzle. This was how i developed my own method for Square-1 (which doesn't have very much in common with a ordinary 3x3)
