Idiot Orange Civic at Knockhill 20th July 2013

- Driver briefing SPECIFICALLY said "No overtaking under braking, No Overtaking on the Right and No overtaking through a corner without consent."
This was a trackday, not a race.
If it was a race, I`d obviously have moved over and blocked him from being able to pass on the inside.
When you move over to let me past, why try diving up the inside under braking ?
If I hadn`t realised he was trying to dive up the inside, I`d have turned into him. Авто/Мото
Just to make things clear for everyone....Knockhill only allow overtaking on the straights and this must be done on the LEFT. This saves inexperienced drivers t-boning people trying to dive up the inside. Basic rules for that particular track and trackday.
If I`d have turned in for the normal Apex, he`d have run into the side of me.
Seeing as I saw he was making a stupid move, I left him room rather than be a dick and cause a collision. Seems pretty obvious why I didn`t turn in....
So funny how many ppl comment not knowing what a track day is and thinking it is door to door racing.
and the worst part is that some ppl go thinking its a fucking race annoying other drivers and causing accidents
wheel to wheel
Was great seeing him understeer trying to keep up. There is always 1 person at each track day on a mission to race.
Do I make mistakes ? Of course I do, where did I say I didn`t ? Have you seen my McIntyres video from the same day.... ;)
If I`d moved over and blocked him, he wouldn`t have got up the inside either.
The point you seem unable to grasp is this was a TRACKDAY, NOT A RACE....
This civic was driving like an idiot all day and several people that I know of complained about him on the day.
Blah blah boohoo little bitch
@@Jon-jc1jf I think it might be passed your bedtime son.
hope he got black flagged for that - what a fool
Even if the turn workers didn't flag him for it, you can totally talk to the track master after your run. They'll go have a talk with him. I've had to do that before and have seen that done before.
What do you use to record your Telemetry Data Logger?
Fun looking track
I swear that's the same guy who spun out in front and nearly crashed into me this Summer. I was coming to the end of the main straight and hit my brakes (this guy had been a total arse all day) and he was determined to over take me so while I was braking he overtook and as he was level with the front of my car hit his brakes. He locked up and started to come across the front of me, thankfully the corner was a right hander which I got round and he went into the gravel sideways.
After that I stopped racing that day, that's the 2nd time I've retired at Knockhill due to utter idiots in my group. I'd rather go home only doing half a day than go home with a car written off by a bloody teenager!
i try to keep it safe in a trackday, people are driven by their ego's and its bad
+Behind The Wheel absolutely, you can't take grudges or a bad temper onto a track day. It should be a place to explore your car and your own talent, in a safe space.
SMH, do people not know the difference between a hpde/track day and w2w ?
schizobipolarjoe if you read many of the comments, it appears a lot of people think they are the same and that you should 'close the door' on a trackday.
Even though I explained that in great detail in the description.
All these people commenting bullshit have never been to a track day, and weren't taught respect for cars or other drivers.
Trackdays aren't full blown race's, seems like this civic guy couldn't keep up after he overtook 😂
Overtaking on the left ? Isn't it supposed to be on the right ? (considering you drive RHD) Or is it ALWAYS at the left on clockwise tracks ?
It varies from circuit to circuit but they always tell you in the briefing what is and isn`t allowed. Usually it`s on the left on a clockwise track and on the right anti-clockwise (y).
In this case, it was on the LEFT hand side only and NOT under braking.
v-tec didnt kick in
Hope you exchanged words after
So I understand about passing on the left with consent.
But if two ppl went together and wanted to have abit of wheel to wheel. Would you get black flagged for it?? Or are track days only for personal best.
Wheel to wheel is only allowed if track master says it's OK. Generally it would not be allowed for any track day involving novice/intermediate. It could be allowed for certain advanced students or advanced run group at more exclusive events that invite people with 30-40 days or more experience or practicing for their racing license.
3 years later but for anyone else with this question: in general trackdays only allow lead and follow. You follow your 'buddy' for a couple laps then swap positions and he follows you so you can observe eachother's lines--this is because trackdays are learning experiences, not races. If you start duking it out swapping positions at every opportunity you'll get a talking to.
@@zecharious3701 took ya time lol
was not till he waved his hands in air i didn't realise this was real!!! not a sim hahaha
these guys: yeah track day! so nice today... civic: think again cause the v-tec just kicked in
Wait ... In the end there ... Did your passenger said "Watch out, cone!" in which you proceed to murder the cone and say "Fuck cone!" ? hahaha
#ConeLifesMatter
I said "what cone 😁"
I love knockhill
maximum attack!
Always a knob in a civic 😂
He thought he was racing. What a prat.
U leave him the inside line around a tight corner what do you expect
Tell me you don't do trackdays without telling me you don't do trackdays 😂
The rules of the day were 100% clear. Only overtake on the left do NOT dive up the inside.
It's why I didn't move across to block him, which I would obviously have done in a race 🙄
Some people´s egos just wont let them accept they have been overtaken by someone faster.
I figure that or he just didn't get it in the breifing
ITS A TRACK DAY THERE ARE RULES, You CANNOT over take on the right nor in a corner.
Why that civic so slow ?🤔
Destroyed
TBH I just think he overtook because you went wide and slowed. I know he was close and that's why you did it, but he clearly had no idea about racing line, hitting apexes, using all the track etc - otherwise he'd have been as fast as you anyway. But you get a better exit, go past, but then you stop wide and slow and he just overtakes because you slowed - he would have had to brake to keep behind you. i.e it wasn't so much him accelerating to overtake you, but you slowing and dropping behind him. Who knows? If you'd kept the racing line would he have sat behind or run into you? Maybe you figured it was an expensive gamble so I don't blame you for not taking it. But you see he's not trying to race you or anything and you overtake him straight back.
Metro? wooooooo
I dont get it what did i miss ????????????????? You didn't pass him enuf if thats the problem
That 'thank you' wave, little does he know the orange civic will take him on the inside 😂😂
why didn't you just cut him off when you had the chance?
Jeez. Why didn`t I think of that :/
Unsafe
why are there even downvotes on this video?
Other civic owners, or people who think trackdays are like racing 😉🙄
The rice is strong with that 1
So funny how people set there tyres on a track for driving like on a public road without fun, without any challenge.
Looks to me as if guy in civic just enjoying his trackday, maybe better if you hire an empty track next time.
Looks to me like you have zero understanding of the overtaking rule in the UK. Get caught because a car is faster over a lap, indicate, move across and LIFT OFF the Accelerator.
He kept it pinned like a straight line hero who could go quick in a straight line (zero skill) but was slower through the corners which is why I caught, passed and gapped him.
@@pinderwagen I do know about trackdays infarct mainly on bikes. I do know about knockhill too. It is a great track and people aren't any more aggressive at knockhill than any other track I've been on. I wouldn't do nurburgring if you think that was agressive
@@scottstevenson173 my passenger was telling me to be aggressive and cut off his chance of that move . I don't drive like that, the briefing was 100% clear on the overtaking rule, he just chose to ignore it.
@@pinderwagen that's great enjoy your future trackdays
Not like an idiot to drive a civic.
Awfully short track that though. Must get boring. Especially in a fast car.
What's a good lap? 25 seconds?
Well, if you watch the video it isn`t a 25 second lap at all is it ;)
It's a good wee track been round it on my bike
@@pinderwagen To be fair, Andrew only has 20 digits he can count on.
It really didn't look that bad, yea it was dumb, but your track day must have been terrible if this is the video you decided to make
It didn't look that dad because the video car spotted the stupid driver and didn't take the correct line into the corner avoiding a nasty accident.
Car trackdays look sooooo boring.. get a bike , so much more fun. Overtake inside outside, up the middle ha...just don't drop it ha
Michael G they don't want cars on track with bikes, as the Nurburgring demonstrates, because bikes are slow as piss around tracks. I watch fairly modest track cars overtaking superbikes all day long. Next...
What a idiotic generalisation. That would be like saying all Civic drivers drive bad watching this video. There are very fast bike riders and some that just don't know how to even corner, but just as many slow cars on Nurburgring too.
The difference is it takes skill to ride a bike fast whilst almost any idiot can get in a car and attempt to drive fast, but usually drive poorly. Yeah bikes are slow on track- dickhead
Watch youtube and Murtanio post very fast R6 biker vs Ferrari and come back and say that. Or IoMTT is the fastest lap held by any cars ?
Antony Foster bikers always bring up the TT, there has never been a top level 4 wheeled time attack done on the island, a few attempts in a breathed on Subaru is not top level. The truth is that at the highest level cars are always faster, any discipline, around corners or on a straight, acceleration, top speed and cornering. Some bikes are fast, some are slow, but they’re almost universally piloted by a douche. Next
FFS then somebody do it !! Pathetic, like one of those kids with the big mouth "yeah I could have you if I really wanted". Ok loser whatever, you totally missed the point.
Nurburgring fastest lap a few years ago was held 7m10 by a modified R1, the stock R1 you could buy new for JUST £17k, admittedly via a very experienced rider. I'm pretty sure other riders don't have the balls, clearly many of Nurburging track drivers ( not racers) are total tools so its a big risk particularly on a bike.
The current top times held by way more expensive to buy car machinery like anywhere from 6x + ( GTR and ) to 50x more expensive machinery. Yet only 30s quicker to the fastest laptops on the ring.
Comparing budget like for like of bike against car.
Example BHP per tonne is 1145 for an R1 production bike.
Even a 10 year old road superbike may be around 700+ and the 600cc bikes are similar.
A 220hp car weighing around 1300kg you looking at that figure is around 170 - a fraction.
Looking down this list for production cars until it gets "relatively" unaffordable ( not to most ) you get a figure of BHP per tonne of around 330 for stuff like a Jaguar F or XKR ( not cheap).
Old subarus around 230
Talks with great armchair experience about vehicles track times, yet clearly has no concept of power to weight - facepalm. I bet you haven't even been to a proper bike track day.
That civic is not idiot its you he's overtake you at corner you overtake him because you got more horse power that's what I saw
Did you even bother reading my earlier reply? This was a trackday, NOT a race.
If it was in a race, I'd have moved across and blocked him.
I'd caught him as I was quicker over the full lap. He just didn't like being overtaken by a car with less horsepower.
Nigel Pinder 99% of peole dont understand what is a trackday, maybe this orange cars was a rookie, I did the same as this Orange civic on my first day alone in a track... with a ferrari 430 owner... it wasn't because I didn't wanted to let him pass but I got a civic type R on my nose really REALLY close and I was afraid of braking hard tat put the ferrari owner in a really uncomfortable situation that could have ended in a crash, thankfully he manage to do it... at the end he spot me at the bathroom and we talk about that incident, track day is just to have fun with your car, its not a race... and some people here don't know the difference
Lambokini ii All drivers have to attend a Driver's Briefing on a Track Day before going out on track and in that Briefing they are given STRICT rules on overtaking. The rules usually state which side you can overtake other vehicles on and that you can ONLY overtake on the straights and NOT under braking for a corner. This is a Track Day where people pay to enjoy their cars at the limit and then, hopefully, go home safe. The driver of this orange Honda may have got black flagged for overtaking in such a way as to oppose the Track Day rules and therefore banned from using the track again that day.
Lambokini ii track days aren't races. Your not supposed to race your supposed to overtake someone faster than you
Shifting N Drifting you are absolutely correct. You do overtake cars faster than you. Those overtaking rules are explained in detail during the drivers briefing and overtaking on the inside under braking is NOT allowed.
That's the point here. He wasn't quicker than me, just look how quickly I pull ahead once I overtake him.
People complain about any freaking thing. Just have fun...
Have fun whilst someone ignores the basic safety rules and endangers you?
Can't believe how serious you guys take it, far out... that's cancerous if ever little mistake you make people put the finger up and flip you off. Learn to defensive when you're driving, watch pro drivers how they cover their lines.. sacrifice a few seconds on the apex to avoid getting the door shut on them.
The 90's it's a trackday not a race. Anyone in this situation would be rightly pissed off at the civic driver for almost causing an accident
shouldn't have left the door open
Why didn`t I think of that. !
Oh that`s right, it`s because as discussed here many times already, it was a trackday not a race. All drivers were specifically told NOT to pass on the right, under braking or into corners.
It was clear that he was going to try and overtake, if you'd have moved over whilst still accelerating towards the corner you'd have made it clear to him that he wasn't getting past. Instead you essentially encouraged him to overtake by leaving the door wide open and going slow through the corner. He shouldn't have done it though.
L Jones I'm guessing you've never been to a track day.. the rules are pretty simple
I was just pointing out that expecting everyone to follow the rules and doing nothing to protect yourself, like closing the door on a slower car with an aggressive driver, is foolish and asking for trouble. I thought that was obvious but I evidently overestimated the reading comprehension abilities of some youtube commenter’s.
L Jones I think that you may have mistaken my comment for me trying to install you. I wasn't however you might want to skim through the description of the vide . Every thing is fairly cut-and-dry here. It was not a race in any way.
Am I saying that the civic driver should have been driving the way he was?
L Jones typo. My phone decided to change insult to install.. anyways. We will just have to disagree here. Had it been a race I would fully agree with you.. have a good one
