Good decision. I didn’t know about the issues on the M6. An analog camera for such a price should last forever with no service at all. Now you are using Leica’s second brand 😉 Love the last photo, Ultramax reminds me Fuji’s Classic Negative film simulation.
Thank you! Haha forever with something mechanical isn't possible :) What happens is that oils basicly will dry over 10s of years. At some point it will need a CLA, Clean, Lube and Adjust. What could be an issue is the lightmeter. The electronic parts can brake and the old M6 cameras, that can not be fixed. Interestingly, the reissue M6 from 2022 is using different electric parts. And as far as I understand, you can not use it in an older M6. The viewfinder will not break, but can go out of allignment. There aren't a lot of people, and even less good ones that work on classic Leica cameras. I still like the M6, and Leica in general but as an extra camera, if you can afford it :)

As a Leica M6 user being in the process of selling myself, I do understand what you are saying, but I personally can't let go of the rangefinder experience yet and got a Leica MP black paint for a very good deal (at least in Leica terms 😅). But I also got a Nikon FM2 (black 🙂) a few weeks ago as an impulse buy and have to say - the FM2 is really nice regarding the shooting experience. You will be happy with that choice and might find some things which are better compared to the M6 ;)

@@gerthilbrands thank you also! Do be honest I only pulled the trigger at that MP, because I know, if I sell it, I will make at least a couple of hundred €. That how I at least justify it and the price was really good 😀 And if you get a good deal with the FM2, I think it’s really hard to beat. Got mine on a German market place for around 250€ with the 50mm 1.8. and previous owner got it serviced and replaced the light seals. Hard to find on eBay for that price. I also have an Olympus OM1 which I also got really cheap for 50€ including the 50mm 1.8 and mechanically it’s the best mechinal sla for me. But the FM2 like the M6 has an internal light meter and it still works without a battery. Wish you luck on the hunt for the FM2 👍🍀
