I have just bought this router from Amazon France. I am 78 years old and want to use it on some of my projects that are taking place this year. This was a "nice" video.
Thank you for a nice introduction! I think I'll go with this one as well. I've been considering many different routers for my first one and this seems to be a sensible choice when it comes to basic functions, quality and price.
Double nice at 3:04. Nice review. I have the same one and like it a lot. Btw, imo there's no real benefit to running the flat against your straight edge. If anything it's less controllable than using the round parts (which are always the same distance from the bit so it doesn't matter if you rotate the router.)
I was wondering to buy this nice router from the nice people at amazon. But I wasn’t sure this was the nicest choice for me. Thank you for making such a nice movie so I can buy this with confidence and build (hopefully) nice projects. Have a nice day
I'm used to larger, corded routers ruclips.net/user/postUgkxfQ5_mgwq6PcudJvAH25t-I4D-3cTPz4z so this was a different experience for me. Basically, this is an incredibly sweet machine, fits well in the hand, etc. It has slightly less power than I'm used to, but that's understandable. Maneuvering freehand takes some practice. These days, it's especially nice to be able to avoid power cords. This is above the level of a hobbyist but below a pro level.
Bra video. Jag är jättesugen på att köpa denna och göra skärbrädor och och annat kul. Vad rekommenderar du för frässtål till denna? Gärna nåt som är nåt slags all around paket.
At 1:55 you talk about the light. The led does not get the electricity from the 220V. There is a small printed circuit board galvanically not connected to anything. The rotating magnetic field of the motor induces eletricity enough to lighten up the leds. Because of that it can shine only when the motor rotates. To have a light that can switch on when the motor is not rotating would need wire to the led from the top, more complex circuitry costing more money and also being more complex means less reliable.
Tack! This is exactly what I was hoping for. A straightforward and honest assessment of a power tool I'm considering investing in. I like your style and I like the open and honest approach. Look forward to seeing more from you in the future. The "Nice Count" was an amusing touch too - although I think you missed one! ;-)
Here in the US I have the pro version, which I use the fixed base for my router table and the plunge for regular routing. But in my house in Greece where I started spending the summers, and I am trying to set up a shop, the pro version is three times the price. In the US sometimes they go for as low as $160 around Christmas, but in Greece they are over 600 EU - the reason why I bought a bunch of the 18v and 12v in the US and sent them to Greece, but Bosch still doesn't make an 18v full power one, like Milwaukee! They make the 12 inch miter glide miter saw (I am sending one this summer) but not a router, yet! So, until they do, I would like to know, can you install this router under a router table? And if so, can you use the micro adjustment as a "lift" adjustment? I have only seen the Makita as relative inexpensive, but they are the small ones, so until Bosch makes their pro cheaper or makes them in 18v, I need to do some table routing this summer. Oh, I forgot, I am also sending the Bosch route table to Greece, they don't seem to have them there - what's with Bosch International?!? But if I can't install this one, it will probably be cheaper to send the pro, along with a 4000 watt voltage converter. Do you see a problem with that? Will it mess up the motor? Thank you, and keep up the good work. I told all my woodwork friends here about you and they are all watching you now.
nice review i just bought one its really nice to use and was a nice price.im a beginner so im looking to do some nice routing.thanks for a really nice review it was nice and helpful.thank you you explained nicely
Hi Swedish maker, thank you for this owesome description. Do you know how to set this machine to work with a 55mm depth? I just was able to set it to reach 20mm. thx
Great video and helpful review. Music was pretty relaxing also 😊. Think I’m just about ready to pull the trigger on getting this router. Any chance have you tried turning this into a router table?
Thank you. This is also my first router and lm strugglingbto fit in any bits so l can do some routing. I have 6 and 8 inch bits but they aren't fitting/lm not fitting them properly
What do you say in comparison to the cheap knockoffs (biltema/jula etc.) they seem to have copied this router? Or does this have features those don’t? Also, does this router have a pre-set depth stop or can you only lock the depth with that manual adjustment auto lever? Very confused
I dint think they are comparable. the output wattage differs a bit and they dint look the same. But I havent tried them. The price difference isnt that big anyways. It has a pre set height adjustment :) thanks for watching
Thank you very much how do your work the side to smooth the surface instead of the top? At what level the bits must align to work the side of a wood board?
You need to tighten the level locking when the router is upside down in the router table. (3:04) Most home made tables have a lift, and keep the level lock released with some zip tie or something else. I do not use a lifting mechanism. I manually release the lock, push the router up, fix the lock and then use the fine tuning to set the precise height. In this case the default position of the level lock does not hold the router in place, locking is not strong enough.
First Day I bought this router I broke the locking device. Have to admit it was my fault. when I got it fixed I tried to learn how to use it then I found out it was a great machine to use and easy to learn if you go slow . I found your video very helpfull and almost covers everything on the machine. Thank you.
Hey mate! Great video! I just got mine a month ago, I am using it to cut some circles. Good router, altough the micro adjustment is hard to turn, also when I press the knob for lowering the bit it doesnt go that smooth, it also goes really hard, I need to use a lot of pressure to lower it before locking it and start working with it. Have you had the same problem or thats just the way that router works? Thanks!
Я также мучился. Но потом разобрал фрезер и снял направляющие,которые затем отшлифовал и отполировал на ток. станке. Причём направляющяя-трубка изначально была смята.После сборки фрезер легко опускается.
Nice length, less than six minutes, several nice points mentioned so I know what this machine has that others might not have, propably will buy because of the nice self-locking ... whatever that is called again. Thanks!
With setting in your bit, you were not using the red button, why is that? Can you tell a little more about which bits are possible for this machine and how you can recognize which ones to buy in the shop (too many to choose from), Thanks for your video, it helps me in the process of buying the same one too.
Hi! Yeah I kind of forgot to mention the bit sizes but it comes with 6 and 8 mm bit holders and also one for 1/4". I think I might have made a cut in the video before I had tightened the bit so me holding the red button is simply cut out, but when tightening it really hard it must be held down. Thanks for the support!
Great review! I'd like to ask if you worked with it on plywood or done any of the following tasks with it and what was your opinion. I'm a beginner myself and I'm on the dilemma between getting this or a blue one. Cable routing, about 1/4" deep. Cutting 1" holes for chunky pegboards 1" diameter dowel cutting for pegs
This exact model is my first router too and I am quite happy with it. At 5:54 - how do you know that the maximum depth is 55mm? Thank you for the tip about the thumb release lever - I did not know that you can push this lever back and it has a brake lock function! Best wishes from Cape Town, South Africa.
Hello, I'm looking for router to make guitar, can you please suggest, which one is good. Palm router or plunge based router? or which model one you would recommend.
Jag har också en sån här, använde den första gången idag. Det tråkiga med den är att instruktionerna är tafatta och förutsätter att man använt detta förut. T.ex. såg jag ingenting om att man fick 3 olika spännhylsor (som dessutom är omärkta).
Nice video, can you make (or have you already and I haven't found it😁) make a follow-up video on how it holds up, more than a year later? I subbed your channel, I do like nice and calm reviews and a fellow Svensk också gör ju inte saken sämre 😁👌
Keep doing reviews! Wou)d definitely love to see some tutorial videos, like what you did with the router, but more indepth, and with another nice count!
I bought one of these and tried it for the first time today. It sticks and needs a good deal of effort to push it down. Maybe it needs lubricating. I'm disappointed with it.
@swedish maker great review. I have the same myself iit is a fine router. I living in Sweden, Upplands Väsby. I struggle to find good quality plywood for woodworking. Do you care to share where we can we find it? Hornbach "björk plywood" you need to order minimum 5 sheets :S.
Hi! Thanks! I usually order my plywood from calexicowood.se - and they sell whatever amount you need but you have to pay for the freight which is usually around 500 sek.
I have this. And one half the prize. And the cheap one is better xD I don't know if mine is a bad one. But if you try to take a bigger pass. You can hear the engine rubbing and making sparks and making and uneven cut. I have a cmt 2400w router to that's really good. light years better than both. But it 3 time the prize 😄
hey, just to kinda of pre warn you ! In the initial comments, you said lets 'dive into it' , firstly I would not want to and I strongly recommend you do not sir , depending on what router bit is in at the time it will more than likely cause you some serious harm and possible death. So please save the dive for the sea or swimming pool only if you can swim though, and for God sake read the manual to learn how to use this tool in a very safe manner. Hope you enjoy its use. :)))))

Ty for review, I'm an italian carpenter who live in Ireland and your video is usefull form me to imprve my english and for woodworking. Enjoy.
i see it in your eyes , you are a good man and honest.Keep up the good reviews thank you and greetings from Greece

I am also looking at getting my first router, thanks for the advice.

Very helpful video. I got the little brother POF 1200 AE, it's my first one too, a fabulous tool !
I was going to get the 1200 from screwfix but it says 8mm shank and they dont even sell 8mm bits its ridiculous im gonna get this one instead

Whic is better this one or the 1200W professional one
Is there an option to set it up on a table as well?

Richard Harrold thanks alot! I appreciate it

It's 1/4 or 1/2 ?
I have the 1617. The POF 1400 looks professional to me.

How did you manage to break it?
I got mine today, gone test it tommorow. Also my first
Nice review! Love the background music, please share details 👌
After your review i went ahead and bought myself one, waiting for it to be delivered👊
Thanks for the review.
Thanks for this, very clear and helpful.
Thank you for this video. It is very helpful for me, because I intend to buy this router.
Thanks!
Can somebody explain me, how to use the fine adjustment. When I use that bottom, nothing is going on.
Great review. Do you need an extra long cutter if you want to go up to that 55mm? Or can you achieve that with a standard cutter?
Yeah it is the capacity of the router, but in order to go that deep you would need a cutter that can go as deep as well.
Hey mate! Great video! I just got mine a month ago, I am using it to cut some circles. Hey man! Thanks! Now I actually haven't had that issue with it, but I haven't really used the micro adjustment that much either.

It has same price as GOF 130 so I dont know if this is better

Thanks for your reviews, it is helping a lot! Subscribed.
Thanks a lot!
plunge height keeps sticking and won't adjust/plunge smoothly. Second router out of the box doing the same
Is there much difference between 1200W model and 1400W?
If 200W is much , then is a difference.
Thanks. A very good review
Great review!
I'd like to ask if you worked with it on plywood or done any of the following tasks with it and what was your opinion. I'm a beginner myself and I'm on the dilemma between getting this or a blue one.
Cable routing, about 1/4" deep.
Cutting 1" holes for chunky pegboards
1" diameter dowel cutting for pegs
Hi! And thanks! I am pretty sure it can handle all of thoose things easily, but I cant swear on it since I haven't tried it myself.
Nice demo but a bit more technical use and maybe a comparison would not hurt.
Thanks for the review. I'm currently considering the same.
Hope you enjoy it!
This exact model is my first router too and I am quite happy with it. At 5:54 - how do you know that the maximum depth is 55mm? Ah cool! The maximum cutting depth is the one stated by Bosch as maximum cutting depth. Thanks!
very helpful review - thanks 👍
hi there, have you used the dust port if so how well does it work? , ps how far down on a depth per pass do you do (max)?
hello! the dust port is very efficient, work area is completely dust free
Hello, I'm looking for router to make guitar, can you please suggest, which one is good. Palm router or plunge based router? or which model one you would recommend.
I have never made a guitar so I am not sure what type of work you will be doing.
Только сейчас собираюсь купить такой. Спасибо за обзор! 💪
How to change the spindle from 6 to 8mm?
There arr three bolts that are screwed on and off the drill head to change size

Hej.

I think you missed a nice count at 3:07-3:08...😉
Yeah I realised that after posting :)
All good. Just checking😄👍🏻 Thanks for the review. Router is next on my buy checklist.

I assume... the machine is nice
Haha yes, yes it is very nice indeed :)
