  • In some traditions, the Alaskan Ulu knife is typically passed down from one generation to the next. It was believed that an ancestor's knowledge was retained in the ulu and would also be passed on to the new recipient. Essentially, the Ulu is an all-purpose knife used for diverse applications such as in the skinning and cleaning of animals, and even in the construction of igloos.
Here, we see how to use an ulu knife in the kitchen.

They are only and mostly only meat. They wouldn’t be chopping vegetables.

Shouldn’t the food holding fingers be tucked in? I worry about those fingers ….

Most people are not vegetarians! How about showing how well it can handle different types and cuts of meat.🤷🏽‍♂️ Depending on how I feel at moment I'll grab the Santoku, chef knife or cleaver when cutting up meat and I think this blade would go well in my kitchen's arsenal.

The “Ulu” I’m use to has a tiny bit of a handle, So small, barely even noticeable as an ULU. Interesting.

I wonder if this push rock motion, of this model means more sharpening (in a long run) compared to cutting/sawing motion of regular held knifes, as they have less pressure on the surface (if used correct). So I am not completely sold. But I am sure it works...
