Imo, Cornwallis was the best of the top British generals of the war…he was the only one who tried to adapt his tactics to fighting in North America
Unfortunately for him, he was put in a position where he was in charge of a secondary army yet was expected to win the war with what he had

Yeah. Tarleton was good at what he did as well, but also wasn't out to win hearts and minds. I know that one of the earlier British generals... his wife was an American spy.
It's an interesting topic that doesn't come up much, probably because some of it is a bit... murky.
What WAS interesting was how much respect the British eventually had for George Washington. George III described him as "the greatest character of the age" for instance.

I only had a few Lothlorien games - Dark Empire, Dreadnoughts and Samurai Warrior... I should try some of the others now we have emulators. Is it just me or is there something appealing about old mostly-BASIC RPGs and wargames? Rebelstar Raiders and In Search of The Orb were favourites.

There is a certain old school charm to them! This one is in BASIC, but don't you dare try to touch the BREAK key or the whole thing will just freeze.
But character based motion and simple UDGs are fun.
My favourite wargames are the CCS ones by Robert Smith (presumably of The Cure)...
