The rutles are one of my favourite bands. No kidding. Neil Innes is just brilliant. Sadly missed.
I included The Rutles in my iTunes Beatles playlist. Based on number of plays, Get Up and Go is my favorite "Beatle song".
The Rutles are what The Beatles could have been if they had only had a lower production budget, less talent, no ambition and tighter trousers.
The soundtrack is top notch. It makes me wonder how much better even The Beatles would have been with him on board.
A brilliant, kind and gentle man.

@Gary Twitchett John learned how to do Cheese and Onions and played it for the SNL cast at a party,
I was Totally Fascinated by this video. I was deeply shocked and saddened at the end of the video to learn that
this TALENTED man had passed away. He wrote and arrange most of the funny songs you hear in Python Films.
RIP Mr. Innes.
Neil Innes a truly great songwriter, I will always love the Rutles movie, absolute comedy genius.
Neil turned out to be an amazing songwriter.
'Can't Buy Me Lunch' is my fav of theirs.
It's exactly the kind of thing John would do to a song "Sweet Loretta Fart, she thought she was a cleaner, but she was a frying pan".

Bought their albums when they first came out back in 78'. They were dam good! One of my favorites is "Cheese & Onions"

I have always thought, in the back of my mind, Cheese And Onions. (much better than salt and vinegar.)
Doubleback Alley and Let's Be Natural are Beatles standard and astonishingly good.
Brilliant stuff, some of the tracks ARE better than the Beatle versions. "Get up and Go" and "Love life" to name but two

Wasn't this recorded in San Diego? The background looks familiar.
It was recorded in the courtyard of a hotel in Northern Virginia on a very muggy hot day. So, yes, most roadside hotels look similar.

Honestly - what would the Beatles be without the Rutles?
Parodying the Beatles forced Neil to write songs with structure - intros, verses, choruses, bridges, etc... Thus he wrote the best songs of his career, by parodying the best pop writers in history.
As opposed to Tubas in the Moonlight? (Fantastic song he wrote for the Bonzos)

where can we watch this full movie?
Sadly nowhere at the moment. This is part of a documentary about Beatle tribute bands and apparently the rights to Beatle music are rather high. So if you have a few spare million, or Sir Paul or Lady Yoko's phone number then we're good. Thanks for watching.
@@nuttycombe Yes, I've seen several beetles documentaries that contain no music. You may have to limit the music to just 10 seconds each clip.
