His first TD run against Oregon in the NCAA championship game was better than any of these plays. He showed off all of his rushing assets on that single play: speed, power, vision, quickness, cutting, and finish. Best running back I've seen since Sanders. Chubb is close.
imo his slight decline ion production is due to 2 factors: he got too heavy and focused on mass & he's simply getting worn down; he was the Cowboy's offence for the early years of his career
When was the last time he had an O-lIne could open holes for him to run into and an offensive c-ordinator who instinctively did not want to throw every play and understood the crucial tactical importance of ensuring the run game is working. Not Kellen Moore! And I would also argue he does not need to deliver the long runs just 20-35 yard and red zone runs) because he now has Pollard (who is definitely faster and has great burst but cannot make drive through the pile or block like Zeke) to take the screens and outside routes. They are working well as a combination, leave them be and get the O-Line working. Finally, it is crucial to recognise that Zeke is just not a glory hunter where his stats are all that matters - he is a real team man. If that means there are less runs or he only gets to do the hard yards he will do it without complaint. So in the round I think he is an amazing running back, a great servant to Dallas and giving him 2 more seasons at £6-7m pa, where he back up Pollard or Bijan would be money very well spent.
I am sorry it is 2023 and we just finished the 2022 season... the issue with Zeke is #72 is missing and they do not get enough push up to the second level... and Zeke has dealt with two knee injuries in the 2021 and 2022 season... Not to be a homer for Zeke... but you clearly see the difference in the o-line with number 72 and 73.... that has been the issue...
He went from 5.1 yards a carry in his rookie year to gradually declining to 4.0 a carry last season. He's already past his peak and he's not even Top 10 right now. On top of that, he has one of the worst RB contract I've ever seen. It makes no sense the way people are still pretending he's a big deal.
