So obviously due to D2R coming back lots of people are trying to get reacquainted with D2 builds and gear, myself included. I found MrllamaSC's channel a few weeks ago and he has some very good knowledge and has helped me so much. However, I just found your channel this evening with this Sorc guide and I have to say this is a great quick down and dirty guide that is very easy to follow and succinct! @@petermgruhn Nope, you are not wrong. It is called INSTANT GRATIFICATION. Can play NOW if you already have the game. I bought Diablo 2 when it first came out including LOD, got tired of the dupes and bots ruining the game for me after 2 years of playing. I loved playing with people instead of by myself. Ever since I heard Diablo 2 Resuurected is going to come out I am patiently waiting for it.
@@barfman7767 I only played D2 and LOD back then for the single player. It wasn't until later I heard about the insanity of the bots in multi. Dodged a bullet, maybe?
It appears a few players have struggles with Static Field early on. I recommend grouping monsters up so you can hit more targets with Static to be more efficient with mana. If you need mana to regenerate, slow them with frost nova and stay out of melee range while mana pots do their thing. I probably should have mentioned that while Static Field is the best build by far in normal, the no respec version has a learning curve from lvl6-9 due to its low radius and mana cost early on. Watch 1:13 and 1:45 to see how I use it. ALSO, you can kill mephisto easily with the moat trick -- drag him down to the river and then teleport across. If you max range him, he'll be stuck on the river and won't attack you so you can freely hit him.
@@fmtm6510 Yep that's totally normal in Diablo 2 especially with the sorceress. It's one of the reasons why it's important to pick up spirit and insight as soon as you can, because it helps a lot with those mana issues even though you still chug pots.
@@deathknizzle Complete the first act 1 quest (Den of Evil) then talk to Akara to reset your stats/skills. Careful not to use it randomly, because you only get 1 per den of evil quest (1 den of evil in each difficulty).

This is the only guide Ive needed for D2R - I played D2 when it was first out and being utterly hopeless, id get as far as hell and just keep dying so id give up and try another class up to NM. This guide has helped me get right through hell where ive just finished off Baal. It wasnt easy but it would have been impossible for this clueless 51 year old without your guide. Thankyou for this.

These are great simple builds for beginners, but if you want to be able to kill everything in single player (on "players 8" even), there are some fun builds. One is an archer build that exploits the quirks of explosive arrows. Use any bow or crossbow that fires explosive arrows (naturally, not as a skill), and max Enchant. Arrow explosions always hit and add all sources of fire damage on your character into its AOE damage. To deal with fire and physical immunes in Hell, pick another element and max your favorite spell. You can also try an all-passive melee build if you are feeling crazy. Drop all your skill points into Enchant and the passives, and 1 into Teleport. Use any one-handed weapon that adds ice and/or lightning damage, plus the Tiamat's Rebuke shield. When you are at a high enough level, switch the weapon to the Kingslayer rune word or Immortal King's hammer (needs 4 set pieces). Fire and Lightning Masteries apply to all fire/lightning damage added to melee attacks, so you can do a lot of damage from multiple elements at the same time.
just 3 comments on this video: first it was a great guide and very thorough, thank you for putting it together. Second I think its worth mentioning that if you are under lvl 25 when you hit A4 and A5 its better to just rush through to cows as the soft exp cap will really slow you down till you start running normal cows. I prefer cows to baal runs in normal to get to 30+ but I also have really bad luck with Crystal Sword drops. Lastly the primary MF targets for a Sorc are Mephisto and AT, so if most of the reason you are playing your sorc is to MF then you only really need to kill meph and you can just hang out and MF for awhile; chaos sanctuary and then hell ancients are significantly harder and hold many solo players up before they are geared and leveled. I opt to push through nightmare into hell with lower-than-average gear because I value hell Meph drops more than spending time farming the NM bosses, and am willing to corpse run hell trav to start farming Meph ASAP.

I had the original Diablo 2 back in the day but I never had time to play it at the time. Now, I can see it all as a true noob. This guide is exactly what I needed.
I've been following this guide for my forst playthrough in over a decade and it's been a life changing guide. I feel so confident. I've even decided to stay nova as long as I can and so far it's not falling off as hard as I expected. Sometimes the damage feels low, but I can still respec once I hit a real wall.
I think it sucks, game should be balanced that having a variety of skills and damage types are a necessity, lame button mashing the same exact same combo over and over and over and grinding like a robot looking for gear, I think I'm going to uninstall actually

Just started a single player sorc and this guide is great! And just to confirm all tune words like spirit etc do work on single player. Also NM Mephisto is a great spot to farm before hell. Just don't give up.
I started to paly Diablo since the first game, but I don't think I've ever beaten Hell on my own in D2. I will give it a try in D2R. This is very helpful. Thank you!
Excellent guide man! I think this will help a lot of players. I also add in Pindleskin runs while leveling. He and his mob are quick, good xp, and you can get some good drops as well.
When I played it wasn't tree based you could pick ts.orb.and hydra. Teleport around drop a hydra and Tele in circles. Thunderstorm was amazing i don't know if it's still viable. I downloaded a pindlebot used it for a few days 99sorc banned. No Mas D2

Wow! Impressive and comprehensive guide! I think the only important thing you left out is that if you have 5 or less monsters left and one of your last monsters in The Den of Evil is a shaman and he resurrects fallen until there are more than 5 monsters, the quest log gets possessed :P I mean, this is not just a great guide to git gud, it's a guide to have fun! You even included how to deal with the struggles of immunities on seal bosses and what mods to look out for on The Ancients.
New to D2 this vid is going to help so much. Started out thinking I could upgrade a few other things with skill points but my character was weak and the blood raven just walked all over me. Great guide def earned a new sub

Kudos to this guide but there's a thing I wanna point out. For the stealth runeword, you should also emphasize players to slot it in while equipping the armor else the level 17 requirement, they won't be able to wear it. I did the rune hunting as soon as I get to countess and then realise I couldn't wear the stealth due to level requirement...

I had not played D2 in almost 20 years and did not play the expansion. I had an abdolute blast playing an ice sorcie through Act II during the Resurrected Beta. Sadly I can see now she would not have made it as a Nightmare magic finder 😂 Really appreciate the guide, I can see it will help me climb fast. Build variety options are made clear 10/10 content, friend.
Thanks for your guide! I think this is very helpful for new players just like me. Most guides just mention endgame builds with endgame items, but guides like this, which show how to get to the endgame i rarely see on youtube. Especially the skillpoint sheet i enjoyed most, not to mess up a character right at the beginning. I would very appreciate it if such beginner guides for other classes would follow. Somebody else already mentioned the paladin, which i think is a good example. Many players like the hammerdin, but the blessed hammer skill you do not have at the beginning at lvl 1. So what is best until later with blessed hammers is good to know. Many thanks & enjoy playing d2 :-)

You actually can trade for a 3 socket MAGIC helmet in A5 hell Larzuk, so you don't necessarily need gray 3 os one. The same goes for 4 os armor for 4x ptopaz socketing.
@@Pontusd2r true, but it's fairly wasteful since there is a limited amount of larzuk quests per character, and three and four slots won't take more than an hour or two to find as drops on nm.
Very nice guide, but dual speccing into lightning with blizz/meteor/fireball/frozenorb is viable, I think it's worth mentioning. It's not as good as meteorb or blizz/fireball but not so much worse so that it isn't viable. You also forgot to mention lower kurast runs as an endgame goal besides mf'ing high level areas. Great video I enjoyed it a lot :)
Yeah my mistake was rushing through the mfing part at the end. I wasn't committed to adding it into the guide as I was going to do it as a seperate video for it, plus the video was already 30 minutes. I'll probably add it to the other class videos though because it seems very important.
14:21 Looks like Blizzard is adding ladder rune words to single player and non seasonal play. Spirit is the best thing since sliced bread for a mana hungry sorc!
I still wish we had a way to shove a gull dagger in her ear though :p I mean, you can swap to it, but then you'd have to switch it out with a lower resist wand in the stash and I have better things to do then getting stuck with an item on my cursor when face tanking mephisto. What can I say? I'm an idiot sometimes :p Just gimme a gull dagger slot in the sorceress' ear :p

Not sure if you'll be able to see this comment but I hope so, guide looks great for us returning players man :) I'm just a little confused as I went for the fire staff for fire build and I'm at the moment using fireball real well. Hits hard, take out stuff real nice. I'm just a little worried for later on as I won't be able to equip the shield you've had me pick up from act 2 to later slot in act 5 because I'm using the Leaf staff. How do I go about this? Do I drop the staff for the shield and get some other cast stick? Or do I just ignore the shield part and carry on with my staff? Are there any other ways I can get resistances whilst keeping my staff in short? :) Thanks Nexius! Awesome video man :)
I would recommend switching to the shield for nightmare since you'll really need the resistances. You should be doing more than enough damage from the levels you obtained from eldritch/baal runs especially if you picked up Fire Mastery (at least lvl30)

With the imbue thing you can do tricks with it as I remember! For example you do a backup of your saved characters data, you do an imbue on an item and if it's bad, then you replace your current data with your backup data. If no problem (I didn't had back then) then you may use the imbue again! Here you could do it with all 3 imbues if you leave it that way! Why do you want to put the cold mastery only up to 100? If you put it over 200 you can kill cold immunes as well in the resurrected version of Diablo 2 !
@@bobfromwork I don't cheat, I'm just saying this as an option! If you play too much Diablo 2 like I did in my childhood and you try out different characters and finish hell difficulty with a lot of characters in a fair way(no cheating) then there is no way, that you don't try out some short roads or look for tricks, editors, mods etc, especially if you are a child! The second thing is, it's not easy to get those items from editor as I remember! Editing items? That didin't really worked for me! So this little imbue help trick(to get a better item) is not really a cheating! Modding a character's stats and skills, now that's cheating!
Yeah dude tell me about it, I got an almost completed grail (just missing tyreals might) and almost every char to 99. But honestly it is cheating, not a trick, you can do the same for runewords that has variables, and reroll them indefinitely untill you get the rolls you want. It's just a more tedious way of putting an edited item on your char, that is my point you see ? I can understand you don't feel like it's cheating but there really is no difference other than the hassle from rolling back your savefile to using an editor to just give you the item. You are on singleplayer however, so you are allowed to do whatever you want, I'm not telling you how to play the game.
Oh and by the way the reason he doesn't recommend getting cold mastery above 100% pierce is that the cold mastery itself cannot break an immunity. so fx a monster with 98% cold res is not immune and a cold mastery of 100% pierce will lower it's resist to 0%, but a monster with 101% cold res will not get broken at all, a conviction aura or lower resist curse is the only way of doing that.
@@bobfromwork It can kill cold immune monsters! It will not break cold immunity because the damage the mob receives is calculated in the background, and this calculation includes the resistance pierce! That's why you see them cold immune but die from cold if the cold pierce is high enough! As for conviction aura and lower resist it removes immunities because it modifies the mobs stats directly(not background) and this way you see the immunities disappear. Of course here it depends on which mobs. In the Act I Hell even a high conviction aura is enough to remove immunities, but in Hell Act III it isn't enough. Even with both conviction and lower resist some mobs/small bosses will still keep their immunities, because of extremely high resistance!
i have the original d2 and lod and i recently installed them with d2dx and plugy and this guide has really helped me enjoy the game a bit more. edit: im in nightmare now, going with meteorb.
Great video and cant wait to start D2R with these builds. Think im going to go for the fireball spec till 3/4 into NM because that leaf with +3 Fireball is just to good for low level. Then transition into a Blizzballer for hell.
Great guide, very helpful stuff, I only play hardcore mode so I had to change a few things up, I put extra points into static field as I was finding it too risky to get in close enough to the target and didn't want to risk getting killed, and I only put 1 hardpoint into cold mastery and instead put 1 point into fire mastery and maxed out fire ball to deal with cold immunes, even with high cold mastery my damage output was very underwhelming on cold resistant monsters and personally found static field/fireball much more effective, and blizzard still absolutely destroys everything else so I feel like it was a good trade off.
Yeah I should've included a hardcore section. I run 1 in mana shield for hardcore which I did not mention here. If I ever get the time to update these guides with the new patch stuff, I should include a hardcore section.
Thank you for Sorceress benninger build I have always to want to play her but it's not usual my play type usually I play barbarian & paladin those are simple builds & gameplay get alot of health get great armor, weapons & spank the enemies simple. So thank you I have always been curious about the Sorceress builds.

Is it normal, that I have to chug mana pots nonstop (after about 5-7 novas) or am I doing it wrong; just done with normal mode rn (lvl 33).

I've been following this guide for my forst playthrough in over a decade and it's been a life changing guide. I feel so confident. I've even decided to stay nova as long as I can and so far it's not falling off as hard as I expected. Sometimes the damage feels low, but I can still respec once I hit a real wall.
I think it sucks, game should be balanced that having a variety of skills and damage types are a necessity, lame button mashing the same exact same combo over and over and over and grinding like a robot looking for gear, I think I'm going to uninstall actually

Just started a single player sorc and this guide is great! And just to confirm all tune words like spirit etc do work on single player. Also NM Mephisto is a great spot to farm before hell. Just don't give up.
I started to paly Diablo since the first game, but I don't think I've ever beaten Hell on my own in D2. I will give it a try in D2R. This is very helpful. Thank you!

Excellent guide man! I think this will help a lot of players. I also add in Pindleskin runs while leveling. He and his mob are quick, good xp, and you can get some good drops as well.
I second this, pindle is eez and fast xp since games are sub 1 min
Yep when it comes to classes, for me it's : Sorc, Trap/kick assassin, summoner necro ( with a side of corpse explosion )
trap/kick assassin is a fun class, so is the Javazon and Fury druid. Hopefully future patches will make the druid summoner viable.
2002 I was ts/orb/hydra mf sorc. Then I got lod and trap assasin was my favorite. Necro zoo was my 1st

When I played it wasn't tree based you could pick ts.orb.and hydra. Teleport around drop a hydra and Tele in circles. Thunderstorm was amazing i don't know if it's still viable. I downloaded a pindlebot used it for a few days 99sorc banned. No Mas D2

To all my console gamers and of course to pc gamers i have to say this guide works 100%! I relly recomended to try this build i say its perfect to new players (i played diablo 2 when i was 9years old) so i was also new in the game sorc will be one of the best in farming if you want to try paladin or druid etc you can easily farm items with you'r sorc and one big tip to all dont go full tryhard enjoy the game i had tons of fun i'm currenlty act 4 hell so will beat the game today:) BIG THANK YOU TO NEXIUS to making this guide

This is a great guide to catch me up in changes to runewords since i last played LOD back in highschool and early college (2003).
Wow! Impressive and comprehensive guide! I think the only important thing you left out is that if you have 5 or less monsters left and one of your last monsters in The Den of Evil is a shaman and he resurrects fallen until there are more than 5 monsters, the quest log gets possessed :P
I mean, this is not just a great guide to git gud, it's a guide to have fun! You even included how to deal with the struggles of immunities on seal bosses and what mods to look out for on The Ancients.

Kudos to this guide but there's a thing I wanna point out. For the stealth runeword, you should also emphasize players to slot it in while equipping the armor else the level 17 requirement, they won't be able to wear it. I did the rune hunting as soon as I get to countess and then realise I couldn't wear the stealth due to level requirement...
what is the second rune for stealth he never says what they are and move the second so fast I can't read

I had not played D2 in almost 20 years and did not play the expansion. I had an abdolute blast playing an ice sorcie through Act II during the Resurrected Beta.
Sadly I can see now she would not have made it as a Nightmare magic finder 😂

Thanks for your guide! I think this is very helpful for new players just like me. Most guides just mention endgame builds with endgame items, but guides like this, which show how to get to the endgame i rarely see on youtube. Especially the skillpoint sheet i enjoyed most, not to mess up a character right at the beginning.
I would very appreciate it if such beginner guides for other classes would follow. Somebody else already mentioned the paladin, which i think is a good example. Many players like the hammerdin, but the blessed hammer skill you do not have at the beginning at lvl 1. So what is best until later with blessed hammers is good to know.

I never really gave playing a Sorceress a fair shot in all the years that I played Diablo 2. I'll definitely be changing that on full release of Diablo 2 Resurrected.

You actually can trade for a 3 socket MAGIC helmet in A5 hell Larzuk, so you don't necessarily need gray 3 os one. The same goes for 4 os armor for 4x ptopaz socketing.
This can be done in normal on larsuk after lvl 35 and ofc in nightmare Act4 and 5 aswell
@@Pontusd2r true, but it's fairly wasteful since there is a limited amount of larzuk quests per character, and three and four slots won't take more than an hour or two to find as drops on nm.
Very nice guide, but dual speccing into lightning with blizz/meteor/fireball/frozenorb is viable, I think it's worth mentioning. It's not as good as meteorb or blizz/fireball but not so much worse so that it isn't viable. You also forgot to mention lower kurast runs as an endgame goal besides mf'ing high level areas. Great video I enjoyed it a lot :)
Yeah my mistake was rushing through the mfing part at the end. I wasn't committed to adding it into the guide as I was going to do it as a seperate video for it, plus the video was already 30 minutes. I'll probably add it to the other class videos though because it seems very important.

14:21 Looks like Blizzard is adding ladder rune words to single player and non seasonal play. Spirit is the best thing since sliced bread for a mana hungry sorc!
I still wish we had a way to shove a gull dagger in her ear though :p I mean, you can swap to it, but then you'd have to switch it out with a lower resist wand in the stash and I have better things to do then getting stuck with an item on my cursor when face tanking mephisto.
What can I say? I'm an idiot sometimes :p Just gimme a gull dagger slot in the sorceress' ear :p

I'm just a little confused as I went for the fire staff for fire build and I'm at the moment using fireball real well. Hits hard, take out stuff real nice. I'm just a little worried for later on as I won't be able to equip the shield you've had me pick up from act 2 to later slot in act 5 because I'm using the Leaf staff. How do I go about this? Do I drop the staff for the shield and get some other cast stick? Or do I just ignore the shield part and carry on with my staff? Are there any other ways I can get resistances whilst keeping my staff in short? :)

I would recommend switching to the shield for nightmare since you'll really need the resistances. You should be doing more than enough damage from the levels you obtained from eldritch/baal runs especially if you picked up Fire Mastery (at least lvl30)

With the imbue thing you can do tricks with it as I remember! For example you do a backup of your saved characters data, you do an imbue on an item and if it's bad, then you replace your current data with your backup data. If no problem (I didn't had back then) then you may use the imbue again! Here you could do it with all 3 imbues if you leave it that way! Why do you want to put the cold mastery only up to 100? If you put it over 200 you can kill cold immunes as well in the resurrected version of Diablo 2 !
Nah that's just straight up cheating dude, if you wanna go down that path you might aswell just use some sort of editor to get what you want.
@@bobfromwork I don't cheat, I'm just saying this as an option! If you play too much Diablo 2 like I did in my childhood and you try out different characters and finish hell difficulty with a lot of characters in a fair way(no cheating) then there is no way, that you don't try out some short roads or look for tricks, editors, mods etc, especially if you are a child! The second thing is, it's not easy to get those items from editor as I remember! Editing items? That didin't really worked for me! So this little imbue help trick(to get a better item) is not really a cheating! Modding a character's stats and skills, now that's cheating!
Yeah dude tell me about it, I got an almost completed grail (just missing tyreals might) and almost every char to 99.
But honestly it is cheating, not a trick, you can do the same for runewords that has variables, and reroll them indefinitely untill you get the rolls you want. It's just a more tedious way of putting an edited item on your char, that is my point you see ? I can understand you don't feel like it's cheating but there really is no difference other than the hassle from rolling back your savefile to using an editor to just give you the item. You are on singleplayer however, so you are allowed to do whatever you want, I'm not telling you how to play the game.
Oh and by the way the reason he doesn't recommend getting cold mastery above 100% pierce is that the cold mastery itself cannot break an immunity. so fx a monster with 98% cold res is not immune and a cold mastery of 100% pierce will lower it's resist to 0%, but a monster with 101% cold res will not get broken at all, a conviction aura or lower resist curse is the only way of doing that.
@@bobfromwork It can kill cold immune monsters! It will not break cold immunity because the damage the mob receives is calculated in the background, and this calculation includes the resistance pierce! That's why you see them cold immune but die from cold if the cold pierce is high enough! As for conviction aura and lower resist it removes immunities because it modifies the mobs stats directly(not background) and this way you see the immunities disappear. Of course here it depends on which mobs. In the Act I Hell even a high conviction aura is enough to remove immunities, but in Hell Act III it isn't enough. Even with both conviction and lower resist some mobs/small bosses will still keep their immunities, because of extremely high resistance!

Great video and cant wait to start D2R with these builds. Think im going to go for the fireball spec till 3/4 into NM because that leaf with +3 Fireball is just to good for low level. Then transition into a Blizzballer for hell.
Great guide, very helpful stuff, I only play hardcore mode so I had to change a few things up, I put extra points into static field as I was finding it too risky to get in close enough to the target and didn't want to risk getting killed, and I only put 1 hardpoint into cold mastery and instead put 1 point into fire mastery and maxed out fire ball to deal with cold immunes, even with high cold mastery my damage output was very underwhelming on cold resistant monsters and personally found static field/fireball much more effective, and blizzard still absolutely destroys everything else so I feel like it was a good trade off.
Yeah I should've included a hardcore section. I run 1 in mana shield for hardcore which I did not mention here. If I ever get the time to update these guides with the new patch stuff, I should include a hardcore section.
Thank you for Sorceress benninger build I have always to want to play her but it's not usual my play type usually I play barbarian & paladin those are simple builds & gameplay get alot of health get great armor, weapons & spank the enemies simple. So thank you I have always been curious about the Sorceress builds.
