Have and love the Rebecca Minkoff. It’s a perfect vacation bag. I pack it similarly to you with phone and wallet in the back zipper for security. My daughter co-opted it for camp last year, and her campers called it the magic bag, because it looks so small but had all the things, lol.
I have both backpacks. They’re completely different looks. I prefer the Longchamp because it’s more structured, but the Minkoff bag definitely has more organization. I just purchased the Longchamp so time will tell which one I gravitate to more.
I have both and prefer the Longchamp. The Julian backpack was so hard to get in out of when I was out etc. I did like the extra pockets but the opening is weird to me.
True, I feel like the RM nylon one is easier to access than the leather one. However, the RM backpack feels stronger, sturdier and more durable than the longchamp one. The RM one also seems more functional with the additional pockets and I like the safety feature where you can clip it to the top.

You could Velcro the straps together. I have the leather version of the RM backpack. I love it.

The location zipper of the main pocket of the Julien bag is a bit unusual. Both are great bags and I am glad you are enjoying your Longchamp! 💕
