Helpful hint when doing drywall buy the cheapest brightest red color lipstick from the dollar store and rub it around the electrical box. Then simply press the drywall against it. It will precisely mark the area to be cut out. I love seeing you overcome all the challenges & obstacles of building off grid in Alaska! You guys are doing an amazing job while making precious memories.
Great idea!
Hi you are not living for someone else lol just do what you do ❤❤❤❤xx love the beach 🏝️ with your lovely 🐕 dogs 🐕 x thank you 🙏
Tongue and groove 😀
Absolutely well said. Freedom. Thankfully here in Alaska there is still some America to be had.
Sunrise sunset!
Sunset
Look good ❤
Your house is coming along nicely. 😊
Thank you! 😊
SAY IT LOUND AND PROUD THANK YOU. LOL.
you all are doing a wonderful job. i learned something about mudding today. Thanks for making the video's love them.
Our pleasure! Thanks for joining us.
I've wasted time & energy earlier in my life & no longer have the opportunity but if I did, my happy ass would be in Alaska.
I think it's really cool that you know how to do all the stuff. My father, when he was alive. He knew how to do everything.
I seem to me same helm. Do rebuild a house me? I couldn't do nothing like what you all do.
Looking great keep up the good job. My husband and I built our house and we learnt so much along the way. Such a liberating experience.....
You are so right, there are very few places left where you can do whatever you want.
Def tongue and groove. Looks so much better. Great progress please keep it up❤❤❤🎉🎉
Yes! Thank you!
@@ouralaskahomestead
But is an absolute pain to install esp on the ceiling. !!!!
@@heatherclayton-callaghan4270 yes, and more expensive. That’s why we’re considering metal. It’s cheaper and will go up quick and easy.
@@ouralaskahomestead I'm with you 100% on that one for those reasons also, plus you do a lot of it on your own whilst Chandras at work. What "metal" are you considering exactly ???
And with your bull at a gate approach to life Craig, I'm sure you'll find metal a far better fit for your temperament and the results will be much more pleasing to the eye. Nothing worse than living with results that give you the "tom-tits" b'cos you weren't able to exercise the patience necessary to make it aesthetically perfect. I was looking at those interior walls you did, and was thinking...
damn , I'd get one wall completely finished then move on to the next one, b'cos the constant rearranging of furniture, moving possessions etc backwards and forwards would drive me over the edge. Patience is DEF NOT my finest point either, LOL
😱😱🤣🤣🤣🤗🙏💞
Great job on the walls thus far mate. You're a dark good couple working together .💞🙏🤗✌️👍👌
Love your attitude!
I vote tongue & groove only because I wish I had it all through my house. My last house had it & I loved it. Y’all are doing a great job!!
It's your home do it like you want
Too. It is yours
Ultimately we will but our viewers have proven to have some great ideas and experience so we love to get your opinions.
Hahaha....offend away Criag. The great thing about Alaska is that those people complaining don't live here.
You have your Dad's skills. You just never gave it a chance . See, you are doing a great job. Mana bear loves you. ❤️
Love seeing your progress! Well done hubby.
Thank you so much! 😊
I bought my sister's lil pug a HUGE REAL FEMUR bone.. That lil dude actually carried it and loved tht bone.😂
I totally agree with your attitude, if you don’t like the content, leave…my job is to install outside Displays large malls….the problem I face is any ideas I have for the Fourth of July displays the company is concerned about will it “Offend “ some people…it is our right to celebrate our independence …if it offends some people, my opinion is LEAVE and find some place where you are not offered and let the true American Patriots celebrate our holiday without you..sorry I was on a rant..!Love your channel
Good job folks, coming right alone. Ya metal on ceiling blue would be nice.😊
Looking good. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching
I only heard her complain one time. I’m too short she gets in there and get with you. That’s pretty awesome.
Great job 🇬🇧😊
Keep up the progress!👍😎
Making progress with the drywall. Tongue and groove is nice, but metal might be easier to put up, more rustic looking.
Totally agree
Moving along! Thanks for sharing
Looking good. Your moving right along👍. Thanks for sharing. Take care from Cape Cod✌️🇺🇸❤️❤️
Thanks 😊
I love watching y'all. I'm not here to judge. People should not be so mean. I'm sorry people are like that.
People just need to be kind. Keep doing what you’re doing. You’re achieving your goal.
Look at a 120V mig welder. Many brands available. You can use flux core wire, although solid core with gas is better, but no need for all that to get started. Get some scrap steel and practice! Many RUclips videos to look at for guidance. In MHO, tongue and groove pine would look best. Keep on keeping on, you are doing fine!
Thanks! We’ll check it out.
If you put red lipstick. All around the electric box and put the sheetrock up on it where it needs to go then press hard. Then take it down and turn it. You will see the electric box line where to cut. No guessing.
What a GREAT idea!
Love how you give everything a go Chandra !!!👌👍👏✌️
Mudding definitely takes a good bit of practice! I think I’ll stick to nursing and let Craig handle the walls 😉
It's looking good, guys ❤ tongue and groove would look nice on ceilings.
I agree! I think Craigs leaning towards metal because it’ll be quicker and cheaper but I think T&G will look better.
Ohhhhhhh my goodness! DRYWALL!!! ☺️☺️☺️✌️
It makes it look so much brighter and bigger(at least in person)
Man beautiful land love the beach scenes
mudding sucks...more power to you Chandra!!!
Yeah, I think I’ll stick to nursing and let Craig do the mudding 😂
A mig welder with a gas tank. No flux core system . With that you can weld up the crack of dawn. lol
Pressed tin ceiling
We may do that in the kitchen. It’s a bit too spendy to do very much of it.
Dogs need to have a place fenced in outside!!
That would be nice!
Need vapor barrier under the drywall
Get a Lincoln electric 90i flux core wire feed welder.should work well for what your needs will be. Couldn't agree more with your comment. People need to mind their own business and stay where they are and stop coming to a good place and wreck it like they do where they live.
well to state welding you should start with CO2 and Acetylene welding with thin metal to learn to make a pool and control it and weld to pieces together and once you a master of different gas welding tech then you go to stick welding and the mig and tig but it very hard start at a stick and a lot people do there just not going to be great welders
It's easier to pull wire if you don't start (in) the box.
Hubby said, "Just get a little ark welder they are quite cheap." That will do most of your odd jobs around the homestead.
On the start of all your videos.
Could you put the date and how cold it is up there? Also, maybe in 1 video. Can you pinpoint on a map that we could see about where you're at?You don't have to be exact
Yeah, we could start adding that in. One of the older videos I believe does have a map of Alaska with our town marked.
My grandson is a welder, I will ask him....
Threading wire would go smoother if you DID NOT TWIST it going thru😮
I was actually trying to UN-twist it 😂 As you can see, I was not doing a great job though 🤷♀️
The Amazon wishlist link in your description is still broken.
I think I got it fixed.

Lol….. Tell them like It Is. If they don’t like what you have say, then leave you alone. “True Sayer”.They didn’t mind insulting you…..
Just at, have you considered Snow Shoes for the winter and a Skid for winter hauling.
Yes, we’re hoping to find a couple pair at yard sales before winter.
Harbor freight
We unfortunately don’t have a Harbor Freight here. Just a Home Depot.
ok guy one you need to sheetrock the ceiling first and come down the wall and tap you spread and thin coat of mud and put the tape on and mud over it
We won’t be using Sheetrock on the ceiling. Likely tongue and groove.
I'd post the link but RUclips doesn't like links.
Feel free to email it to us or pm if you’re on Facebook
