Morning James from a chilly Cambridge sat in my lorry. It's a bit like canal boating living in a truck lol 😂 My night heater is working a treat though 👍🏻 Got me a brew and back on catch up with your fantastic videos on The narrowboat that James built 😃
So great to find this! I am on a 4 year saving plan for a narrowboat. I think about getting a project boat from time to time. Love that you show the process and dont skip past the 'simple or obvious' parts. The talk through and real time demo is perfect!
Jennifer Burke aww thanks for your feedback. I agree with you, I found it really annoying when a video says, so now I’ve put the walls in - without even showing it - that’s why we’re tuning in !!!!
Excellent work. You know what else I like about this channel apart from the attention to detail; your sheer work rate; your enthusiasm and motivation is that there are no advertisements!
Lovely Job James. Not how I would do it but I have a pension for those hip baths. A tin bath is good enough though if you can make it work, I mean it's soap and water it's not like we are reinventing the wheel.
I’ve been watching since you started never commented but had too now Thank you for taking us this renovation I really enjoy how you put videos up so quickly really enjoy Looks like you’re a perfectionist love watching your mind work I can go on but just wanted to say thanks This is fun for me it looks like you’re enjoying it also Again much appreciate it
joseph derusso thank you so much for your kind words and I’m delighted that this brings you some joy. You’re right, I am loving every bit of this project so far. Glad you’re with me 👍
Hey buddy. Just to add my tuppence worth, can you check your vertical studs by eyeing them against the steel bulk head? It's really coming on. Have you thought about a hearth for your solid fuel stove. The little boat you were in yesterday had a neat little plinth thing, raising the stove a bit and a place to store kindling. Cheers X
Looking good James. Incidentally, is the floor of the boat actually true level, all ways, re a spirit level? Just a thought. It probably won't be, but if by some miracle it is, are you thinking what I'm thinking?
For anyone who does has to build a bulk head, you can also build one from just plywood without doing stud work. Mine isn't a walkthrough and has been built using 20mm ply. Another good vid to watch (timelapse) ruclips.net/video/dw3yrmQp3vA/видео.html Loving the regular updates James, keep up the good work. 👍
Many a time I've deliberated over a cm or less... every mm really counts on a narrowboat doesn't it? If it wasn't for that air mattress in the background I wouldn't believe you even stop to sleep!
Project Narrowboat I know it’s funny, a cm here and there adds up though. A few of them through the boat and that’s the difference between a decent sized oven in the galley or a tiny one !!

Coming along nicely that’s going be be a sturdy bulkhead time you have both boards fitted. Good job.
nice job so far James, keep it up

Great job, can you fit the shower unit through the "door" opening?
I bloody hope so, youve got me worried now !!
Ok dumb question. But did they make sure your boat is level on the ground?
Fred Fish not easy to level a boat on ground, certainly this one as it has a slight v shaped hull

New work trousers James?
Left a comment on vid 46 which could help with your bathroom layout please take a look

Wouldn’t that be nice of the floor was level, I can’t trust the spirit level here so I’m going by eye and some measurements where I can !!

Painful to watch. Going forward -- self drilling screws ( not self tapping screws ). Saves time and effort. One tool, one action.
