    Aloha from Hawai’i Island! I just ate my first cherimoya and knew I wanted to grow the little seeds. These videos were excellent, thank you!

    In eastern Maryland I scarified the seeds in an old sock with some gravel, rubbing and grinding them a bit. Took only 3 weeks for the first few to send tap roots, idk if they’ll survive indoors here but I’ll try
    **UPDATE** I have tons of germinating cherimoyas now, with the oldest ones already having 3 leaves and being ~ 8" tall. The leaves are equally yellow and green... not sure what to make of that, but they are not in direct sun, they get a little sun every day through my window. which is screened.
    The young plants demand more humidity than my house has normally. They stopped growing and started wilting a little until i moved them to my bathroom, which is much more humid, and they perked right back up and started growing again. I water maybe once a week just to keep the soil from going dry. in my bathroom the soil seems to stay fairly damp, and only need a little trickle now and then.
    I have more sprouting seeds now than I know what to do with.

    Would you recommend pruning these trees when they drop leaves around April? Also by how much ? Back to 3 buds or back by a third? Also I do not really know how to tell if a branch is a “sucker” or not. Is there an easy way to tell? Thank you 😄

    Hi there i have 5 chirimoya plants about 4 or 5 months since they sprouted they all except one seem to have a leaf or more that get this browning and drying on it i would like to know if you have any advice ill upload a video to show you exactly what im talking about thanks

    • @eatyourgarden
      @eatyourgarden  6 лет назад

      If its cold where you are ATM they will start dropping their leaves, the plants start looking very ordinary. If you scratch a small piece of bark you will see green underneath. If not, ill say its wet roots. That single plant is displaying different characteristics to the others, they are always the best ones. The beauty of growing from seed. cheers :)

      eatyourgarden australia thanks for responding i guess i am over watering them cause im in south tx zone9b rarely gets to cold and if it does its only for a day or two although we did get some snow this past winter for the first time in 14 years its varies from 70 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit eight now

      Take one out of the pot, carefully. Tip it upside down. Have a look at the soil. Wet, dry, ants, etc. That will give you a very good idea of whats wrong. Sometime when potting soil goes dry its very hard to get it moist again. Let me know ok. :)

    • @victormartinez6959
      @victormartinez6959 6 лет назад

      eatyourgarden australia so i transplanted two of the smaller ones into a bigger pot and i turned it upside down some of the roots looked dry the soil looked a bit dry as well but i planted them in better darker soil this time
