Top Tip for the rattle can painters out there. When it is cold it can take ages to get the paint to mix in the can properly and it wont spray well. 1/2 an hour before painting put your paint cans into a bucket/bath of warm water and give them a chance to warm the paint a bit. It really helps it mix when shaking it up and if you are using a fill type of primer it will help prevent the can from getting clogged up. If it is a colour top coat it will save you shaking for so long to ensure it will be consistent for the entire can. If the temp is under 20 c it helps a lot. Another tip if the paint is thick out of the rattle can when you are finished for the session and there is still paint left in the can you turn it upside down and give them a short burst of spray to clear the nozzle and valve assembly in the spray can so next time it is clear and will spray properly. This job takes me back to the 80's welding up rust and using rattle cans to fix a Valiant...
Just thought af a memory about screaming past a minibus in my 1970 Mini in 2004... about 30kms later stopped at Maccy Ds near Dundee in Scotland, I was confronted by some super friendly Aussies from said minibus who asked what the hell was powering the thing! I happily obliged in removing the bonnet showing the big block 250 bhp XE 16v 2.0 powerplant (Holden/ Vauxhall/ Opel with lsd gearbox & weighing 560kgs wet)! Which then got the reply: the only thing that comes in 2ltr in OZ is milk & juice!!! I apparently had awoken one of the guys from his sleep who thought it was a loud bike only to be told it was a Mini!! I was doing 140 mph at the time... on a private road obviously 😉
2020 has not only kicked OZ in the nuts, but twisted them off to boot, Scotty. I'm still on the Cossie Viva... firewalling etc. It's keeping me sane doing this and the bonus side of UK lockdown is that I've managed to get a whole years worth of spare time work done in a few weeks! Keep safe buddy & look after your boy & the family. Much love from Leigh & Rachel.
With the way Scotty uses that grinder, so that it kicks towards him if it grabs, is one of many reasons the shows called Carnage. HAHA Lovin the wagon series. Cheers boys.
Thanks Scotty just did exactly the same floor patch on my VE. Had to repair the seat bracket and inner sill wall underneath as well. Took me all day and came out looking just as bad as yours did and I'm proud as!
I like it when the build comes in less then $10k. Love it when it's less then $5k and basic home shed and tools are used. I didn't have a shed (to fit the car in) for my first two engines and one gearbox tear downs. Keep it real Scot.
Scotty's Garage IS BACK...for a limited time only. 😁👍 Lockdown didn't get to us, but it did get to my parts that were supposed to arrive. If I don't see these turbos for Crustida soon I'm gonna lose it. Also, I felt like I broke every injector clip when removing it, the click noises make me just 😬 everytime. 😂
Nice job, on sheet metal I usually move around the panel so the heat isn't so isolated in one spot when I'm welding, that way it won't blow through as easy
Nice job Scotty i recently used a 10 amp stick welder to do some patches, it was hell but got it done, i also have no vice and found wedging sheet metal in the bottom of a car door you dont care too much about and standing on it creates a nice profile bend.
Noice work Scotty, I have that to look forward to if im lucky and it isnt too rusty and of course the Chassis rail gut, gusset and gronk..... Not saying a thing about your welding coz im back to using gasless lol
surprising how long it takes to do these small rust repairs, probably a couple of hours easy.(even more surprising is how long it takes to begin.. getting supplies, stripping the car down, covering any glass, finding the fire extinguisher, where's my safety glasses i just had.. oh, on My head still..)
Those corded ryobi grinders are definitely for home use only. Used one at work and I killed it within two days, i cooked it that badly it was still smoking an hour later.😂
That's why I said XU1 > Ryobi in my comment to Scotty. 😁 I've only cooked one sander and one hammer drill in 3 years of rust removal and each tool cost $20-25 to replace. 👍 Go the china spec tools. 🤘
I've got three of those cord ryobi grinders and all are that worn they are bearly green anymore let alone any branding left on it. if your beating on tools hard enough to let the magic smoke out in two days you need to look at altering your methods lol
Hey big fella, thanks for another grouse installment of CARNAGE ! I'm really looking forward to the time when the racing starts for the budget build call out event with maf and haulass garage and others, could ya do us a favor please and see if you can entice Bubba Medlin into the comp as well, that'd be ace, make it a sorta mini drag meet of the budget cars. Look after yourself and cop ya next ep.
Budget went WAY out the window on BOTH cars. 😉 I'm just trying to keep up with the five brinks trucks already thrown at Trolvo and the constantly moving goalposts. 🤷 If I get this build 100% done for under 20K total for everything, I'll be cheering. 😁👍 If I used a workshop, this build would be closer to 40-50K. 😬
@@MafiaboysWorld Hey Maf, how's it going mate ? $20 g's faaark'en, i hope you are cheering bro, good luck with it. How's you're build shaping up ? Good luck
nice work Scotty ! , nothing worse than welding that thin stuff but brass works so much better to use as a backing to stop it blowing through, also are you running .6 wire? .9 sux for old panels
You definetly lucked out getting such a good floorpan! Original metal stampings are always better than repo stuff. Having said that it must have been a bastard to get out, hundreds of bloody spot welds!!😳
Well done. I noticed the hamming up of the can shaking. Was that in response to an earlier comment by someone? Please wear gloves when handling that floor pan though.
@@STREETMACHINETV Well it would be in keeping with the brief, Doing it how us mortals would, in the shed with improvisation the key word. Test the products in real life situations. Think your self lucky you aren't using oxy to weld everything too. Keep yourself and the family safe, great job as ever
Hi Scott, are you able to drop a link of the paint you use and that Rustoleum Comfort Grip aerosol sprayer. Has Rustoleum got a link on their website to what you are using each episode? Go the Safari. Pushing me to get mine back on the road again. Keep up the Mopar work.
👍 good job. But next time instead of cutting out a square cut it right to the edge of the panel. That way there is less welding’ less grinding and less heat.
Only a shit tradesman blames his tools. Haha jokes mate just hanging shit on you, looks good love the video's keep them coming can't wait to see it finished.
PS4 Modern Warfare Warzone. ScottysGarage, I'm an average player. I go alright in Death Match but haven't won a Warzone Battle Royale yet, 2nd a bunch of times but I never quite manage the win

You're right Dazza... alot of people don't understand the science!

Loving the content Scotty. Mopar or any car!
Scotty , for sheetmetal like that use a 0.6 Wire and turn the welder down.
So the smaller the wire the better for sheet metal?
Good patch job , and coz of its location, no one’s going to see it any way.

Hey man, not sure it was from editing, but don't use the rack cloth to wipe prepsol off. Use them after you have used a rag
Yeah it's a good point. It was only floorpan thpugh so I wasn't too concerned
Yeah mate no problem. I'm a painter. Prepsol it all, wipe dry with a lint free rag, then wipe over it with the tack rag to remove any crap
Nice dance
Is the rust converter by rustoleum?
Yes
No fires, droughts, floods or shitty kung-flu is gonna stop us. It's all just a pimple on the arse of life for the average Aussie!!
In all fairness its better welding than a certain "Road Perfomance Modifications" "professional" owners job on my old GTR Torana...
