I have had similar experiences with police. They are not trained to deal with people who are having a mental health crisis, and they should be. In fact it should be the law. I have heard that there is a huge part of the jail systems are people with mental illness all over the country. And instead of helping people they just lock them up in jail most times instead of a hospital. They try to criminalize illness.

Many people end up in a ward or prison when they find out. The cops said there were enough crazies in jail already, and they didn't want anymore. The only one who was on the ward for only 48 hours was a Marine who'd had a breakdown from fatigue. He looked better when he left. Fatigue is a huge problem in the military.

The police and sherif departments needs to hire social workers to help train them on identifying special needs and people in a mental crisis. And they can even have a team of social workers on call to come out to scenes like this.
Sorry you experienced this trauma and this may have caused you ptsd, bc it’s hard for you to think about or talk about.
    Ty for sharing

Sadly this is a common occurrence for people with mental illnesses. They are treated by law enforcement, which doesn’t regularly happen with illnesses of the body. And they are treated like criminals. How this continues to happen and why we as a society can’t come up with beneficial solutions is beyond me. I don’t blame Michelle for being angry about this. I’m angry too.

Our names are two letters different.
I want to commend you for trying to educate people on mental illness.
As I said in the comments before,it really does depend on the illness itself, the severity, and what,if any meds

I hate just how bad police can be when dealing with mental health crisis. When I was hospitalized they had to go through my RA to go into my room and take my meds so that I wouldn’t hurt myself with them.... while I was I the hospital and they ended up having my roomate take them..... I’m pretty sure that was illegal but the police did it soo all fo a sudden I guess it’s okay to break HIPPA by getting my RA and roomate involved without my consent for whatever reason.... also there was a thing where she almost got arrested for “breaking into my room” by like the real police because they had to go though student housing to unlock the room but she was told to.... I’m not 100% clear on what happened to be honest heh.

I'm tired of that story, I heard it on your other channel. The cop was not in the wrong, she wanted scientific proof you were a danger to yourself. I am schizo affective bi polar type, a very severe case, and I HATE the police most of the time. I have experienced more injustice than that story, not by the police, but by people. Someone, I don't know who, said, When you blame people for your problems there is no end to the blame. Interpret that how you see fit. An existentialist says we all have free will and every problem we have is a result of a decision we have made. I have found that to be true in my life, except for a few things that happened to me when I was very young. I feel better, less resentful, and empowered because I can say, " it was all my fault. "

Thanks for the insensitive comment. It’s extremely uncomfortable to show cuts to people, especially a room full of people(some of which I didn’t even know). I asked her to come into my bedroom so I could show her. Then she threw me in the floor.
