  • Koko Head trail hike is also known as Koko Head Stairs, Koko Crater Stairs, or just Koko Head. I run up here 3 times a week, but before I explain why, here are some tips for this hike.
    Please bring hiking attire, water, camera, and a walking stick if needed. Respect the trail and don't liter, be mindful of others, don't throw your shoes up on the telephone lines, and if you ever feel dizzy, STOP and TAKE A BREAK! Catch your breath, drink water and keep going up if you can, but don't force yourself! You can hike Koko Head another day. Trust me, I have been hiking here since 2007 and I have seen people fainted and airlifted. It doesn't look pretty.
    This is my 453 Days running up Koko Head! Today I hiked it in eleven minutes and fifty one seconds with my GoPro Hero 5 Session!
    Now for the reason why I run up here is that, I want to be the fastest to go up Koko Head since 2012. I only got serious about achieving this goal since last year June 6, 2017. With a lot of inspiration from family, friends, and with the right timing I decided to do this every day so I can get my body used to the trail.
    A disclaimer, what I mean by everyday, is that I go up and down Koko Head 2 or 3 times in that same day so I can make up for the next couple/few days ahead due to other things I have going in my life. I start from my car and hike all the way up to the helicopter pad to make it a full day. Then I go back down to my car. Drink water or eat a snack if I needed it and go back up and down again. (But now I only do it 3 times a week since school started.)
    I start the Runkeeper app at the beginning of the railroad ties and stop it at the top of the helicopter pad. The fastest time according to the Strava app was 9:07 running this same distance! That is the time to beat! My fastest so far was 11:59. I have 3 minutes to cut down in order for me to get my personal record! I believe I can do it with the help of God. He has been with me through each step of the way, I couldn’t get through all of this without His help. God has given me the strength and wisdom to endure this challenge through a lot of praying. If you guys need help with anything, you guys can talk to God and he will listen to you.
    Here we go! Let’s get fit and enjoy the video! Have a Blessed Day!

    Damn that's fast. I walk up this once in a while and can only manage 15 minutes. How many calories do you burn going up and down? I use a HR monitor and Strava, but I think it's all wrong. I weight 60kg and it says I only burned 240 calories. I'm thinking Strava doesn't take into account of the elevation... thoughts?

      15 minutes, that’s awesome Kevin! You’re fast! Yeah the apps are not accurate. I average 145 calories when I run up Koko Crater. It feels more like 300 haha. I try not to run down and I don’t record it. I only track when I go from the bottom of the stairs all the way to the top of the grilled platform!
      Happy New Year and stay safe and stay Blessed :)

    What's a good time for hiking up kokohead? Also how long do you rest at the top and take to go down?

    • @MiecholCanteros
      @MiecholCanteros  4 месяца назад

      A sunrise hike is a good time because it’s cool so that’s around 5:30am.
      The first time I did this. It took me 30 minutes from the bottom to the top. Stayed another 30 minutes at the top to enjoy the view. 15 minutes to go back down. Around 2 hours total.
      If it’s your first time, bring water and wear the right shoes and clothes for the hike. Bring extra gear if you need them (like a hiking sticks for example) Bring your camera if you want to take pictures.

      Sorry I’m replying after so long, but I was refering to what was a fast or good time to hike Koko head because I typically hike it in under 18 or 17 minutes and people say thats fast. But then I’m slower than most when running a mile, or running in general.

    • @MiecholCanteros
      @MiecholCanteros  3 месяца назад

      @@bigfard7117 17 minutes is a good time! The record for the fastest going up was under 9 minutes. My personal record was 11 minutes and 47 seconds.
