Valkyrja - Ambient Modular Performance (Sinfonion, Vector, AJH, Assimil8or, Odessa, Peak)

- From Old Norse Valkyrja (Valkyrie). A kind of Vangelis tribute in the second half.
Contrary to a lot of my eurorack tracks, this one is very light on sample use (drums, background and Emulator Choir only). Bass and two lead sequence voices come from the AJH Mini Mod VCOs and filter, with Odessa and Ts-L (through Natural Gate) on secondary sequences. Sequencing done by Vector and Sinfonion (song sequence mode), with Vector presets manually selected via the Launchpad Mini mk3. Manual filter changes via Metamorph.
Recorded direct to DAW in one take. Piano (NI The Gentleman and CS-80 brass parts added in post.

I particularly love the deeper progressions and chord movements in this one. Much more melodic than some other pieces. All your music is marvelous but I really enjoy a more melodic journey.

Having just watched/listened to 'Folding' his four hour drone. I'd say just adjust the lighting, film in 4k and put it on the big screen as is. There's something very hypnotic about watching the forest of lights whilst diving into the drone.

EPIC....I've been listening to this all week while deep in the Adirondack Mtns and Lake George. Its timeless-ness melds into this landscape here. The build up to that much anticipated chord change - you know the one what I'm talking about, and finally hearing it is like all the pressure of life is suddenly released. At that moment the whole piece comes together. I wont draw any comparisons but I do hear alot and those are of artists who have been listened to here as well. Thank the Gods someone carries on their traditions, You are keeping that flame white hot.

Without any hesitation I've suddenly felt compelled to say thank you for sharing your explorations and some cover versions which I have been occasionally popping back listen to more of since subscribing some time ago. I have loved the sound of synths and on a separate note I have always admired how a genius sound engineer, experimental recording techniques or producer can literally allow the sound positioning and most importantly width headroom and feeling for the compelled lister to enjoy. The comments about the filmic nature of this track I have just enjoyed is the exact same thing that sprung to my thoughts although from what little I do know I'm longing for a genuinely epic return to the films I loved as a kid. Silent Running is definitely my favourite and demon seed although creepy definitely made you think..

I hear Vangelis playing here, really very similar, and a nice tribute now. This greatness with his synthesizers and specific sound has been dead for almost a year, which along with Klaus Schülze is a very big loss in the field of electronic music.
Hypnotic, almost trancelike. I imagine flying, arms outstretched in the evening light across the fields and valleys of my homeland (England) while I listen to this. It's not TD. It's not Vangelis. It's State Azure. Save it for the next album please. P.S. The challenge remains though... I'd love to hear your take on Tomita... say, Venus the Bringer of Peace from his banned Holst Planet suite album perhaps?
