I absolutely love this channel - I only started collecting last year, and seeing these dives into figure history is brilliant. Love your passion, Dave, it's infectious!
I’m not a big marvel legends fan. I cherry picked some for my mafex display and that’s it. But marvel legends, specifically that toybiz stuff, holds a special place in my heart (will never give away my face off cap and hulk). This series is really refreshing and I can’t wait to see how far you take it
Kudos for mentioning the early McFarlane figures. Sure they weren't more than articulated statues but they looked sooo good that they changed the collecting game forever - and for the better! I like to say action figure collecting can be defined as pre-McFarlane when all figures were just kids toys and post-McFarlane when they started to be actual collectibles that grown ups could like to have without feeling too bad about it 😂 Say what you will about the current McFarlane figures - and we know you do 😂 - but the old ones were definitely a game changer. And I still love them today. 😊
I has that Iron Man. The faceplate didnt hold very well, the Stark thing didnt stick in the base well and i could never understand why armour was muscular. That said, I wish I still had it
I remember when they first started the Marvel Legends line I used to work at a toy store (KB Toys). I used to get first crack at them when we received new shipments
Why would Hasbro ever need to stop making Marvel Legends action figures? There are so many different costumes and alternative versions of the underlying Marvel characters, they have only scratched the top layer of the surface with the more popular characters (except for Elementals, not many people seem to like those movie characters). Hasbro could still be making these things for our grandchildren...
Last time I was this early to a video by David, (original) Mego Toy figures were the only game in town for Marvel figures (yeah, I left out "action" in the post about action figures, because Mego didn't have much back in the 1970's. lul) Modern Marvel "Legends" from Toy Biz till today are such great 1/12 action figures - wish I could actually afford the nicer Iron Man figures, but y'all love him as much as I do and make those things disappear from the primary marketplace.
The Toad figure was made to go with a separate line of statue-escue X-men figures to tie in with the movie. They were gonna be highly detailed comic versions of every main character in the 2000 film. The line was canceled during the early stages of production, and the only figure to be made was Toad. Toybiz was eager to release Wave 1 of Legends, but they wanted a 4th character, and a Thor figure wasn't ready for release. But you know who was ready? Ya boi, Mortimer Toynbee, so Toybiz SLAPPED him into the Wave despite him being so out of place. And the rest is action figure history.
Dave I've been trying to show you pictures and videos of my collection during your podcast. Was wondering have you seen them an what ya think big brother?
Easy to become "cynical" adult as we age, in this wildly contemptuous, overly fast paced, and dervisive modern world. But Marvel Legends will see us through to our "second childhood"... maybe, lol
I liked the cap and iron man. The other 2 had bad articulation compared to the other figures in the wave. I don’t have any of them anymore cause they don’t fit with the current stuff
@@DisplayingModelBehaviour yeah, but there really was nothing better than the feeling of turning the corner on the toy isle, catching that rack of freshly stacked pegs, and finding that gem! Also kinda feel like the scalping game wasn't as keyed in back then, and if you were hunting, the odds were usually in your favor.
YAAAAAYYY! My pudgy little fingers made the video!!!!
Yeehaw
I’ll take any excuse to brighten up my videos with a little carbon scoring! :)
For what it's worth your fingers are very dexterous
OMG Dave, this is gonna take you forever! 😂 I’m here for it.
Then we’d better get a move on!
Yeah because of the adult collector sign on the box they will jump from $8 to $27 now Dave
That’ll do it!
I have a feeling that this is going to be one of his most popular videos
Hey here’s hoping. I could always use a win! :)

Hey thanks so much brother. Many more of these videos to come!
Fantastic idea for a series. I'm here for the long run!
Welcome aboard!
Keep it up dude! It’s great to see the history of the greatest toy line ever!
Many more to come!
This truly was the ultimate retrospective
Thanks brother!
I’m in for the ride on this series - let’s see em all! 👍
Episode 2 coming soon!
Love this concept and the amount of detail put into each figure, nice one Dave!
Lots more to come!
excited for this series!!
Plenty more to come!
I’m so excited to see the progression
Episode 2 coming soon!
Really enjoyed this insightful video, David. Cheers!
Thanks Paul. I’m looking forward to making more these
Pleasure, David. Thanks again.
the legend of marvel legends
And the legend keeps growing!
Yes this is a great idea. Looking forward to the next episode. 🎉
Thanks, I’m really enjoying making this series!

Oh we're going all the way brother!
I enjoyed it 👍🤘
Thanks man!
I love this
More to come!
Yeah. This will be great. Let’s keep going!
Let’s make it happen!

Yeah McFarlane legitimately were game changers!
Shotout to whoever decided to put Toad on that Wave
Since it gave us 2 of my FAV Marvel Legends by doing so
He's a classic!
Keep these going my friend
I will!
I has that Iron Man. The faceplate didnt hold very well, the Stark thing didnt stick in the base well and i could never understand why armour was muscular. That said, I wish I still had it
Ah yeah that makes sense about the face plate.
I woke this morning with a bag of mini donuts, soda and a displaying model behaviour video?! that's cool
Sounds like a pretty good morning!
I remember when they first started the Marvel Legends line I used to work at a toy store (KB Toys). I used to get first crack at them when we received new shipments
Ah man, you were in the best place!
@@DisplayingModelBehaviour yup
When I first started collecting in 2001 there were $8 each at KB toy store I bought Captain America towed no more Spider-Man iron Man and hulk
Great start!
I’ve always wanted to get an in scale flag like the toy biz cap for my marvel legends. I just think that accessory is cool and outside the box.
That would look really cool!
I fear this series will be never ending because Hasbro will probably never stop releasing new legends 😂 love the series tho
I hope that’s the case. Keep these legends coming!

Hey thank you for the added details on the history!
Love the idea, hope often do you plan on releasing these?? Weekly will take you years 😭
Hopefully at least one a week. I'll have to break up some years in to smaller videos though!
I’m not 100% sure but I believe the toybiz figures with the foil poster were Canadian versions?
Oh that would make sense. Thank you!
Dave I've been trying to show you pictures and videos of my collection during your podcast. Was wondering have you seen them an what ya think big brother?
If you post them on the facebook group or instagram i'll see them! :)
Time goes by fast, in 2002 I was a naïve and naïve eighteen years old and now I'm a cynical forty :D
That’s a good reminder to seize the day! :)

@@wills2140 Here we are equally nerds, child-minded and collectors, or whatever we want to define ourselves Regardless of age:D
First!

Yeah cap and Iron Man were a strong start.
God I miss chase figures so much
They were both awesome and terrible for collectors!
