Had anyone sent me this video and said it was valve's, I woulda believe them, I swear, they look hella natural, Even the cut voicelines doesn't seem that out of place. Amazing work!
@@namenotfound8525 gin rummy is a great card game. Idk about official rules but these are my family rules: You have x cards in your hand (10 or 12 depending on round) and have to make a certain number of groups (3+ of a kind) and/or runs (4+ of the same suit in a row). On your turn you draw a card from a facedown deck then discard a card into a pile. You can also instead draw from the discard pile if its your turn, or "take", which is drawing from the discard pile outside of your turn, with the penalty of drawing an additional card. Once you have the prescribed set of groups and/or runs, you can lay them out ("go down") on the table in front of you. The goal is to get rid of all your cards, "go out". For example, if we're going for 2 groups, lay down 2 groups of 3, discard a card, have 3 cards left. Now I can play my remaining cards on ANYONE ELSE's groups that are out on the table. So going down but not out opens up opportunities for someone to dump their cards on your set and win. Once someone gets rid of all their cards, the round ends and everyone stuck with cards gets point penalties based on number and type of cards left. Lowest score at then end wins. So there's tons of strategy as to what to keep for yourself, what to discard, what to keep because you don't want someone else getting it, when to take and get an extra penalty card, when to go down, when to hold on to your completed set and wait for the perfect time to strike. Its waiting each other out, guessing what the other people are building, trying to build your own set without inadvertently helping others. Great game. And simple, most people understand how to play after like 2 rounds
i just wanna point out, the lighting in this is genuinely perfect. what really got me when i noticed it was the blue light on the red soldier. that is genuinely brilliant.
God this is downright amazing. The camera shots, the foreshadowing, the subtle expressions of Soldier, the usage of the voicelines... It's amazing Great job

Wow what an amazing animation! It really feels like an official valve animation tbh. I love how the scene feels super natural as if it's how the mercs would actually interact with each other. And the small details are top notch, like how you captured the personality of each merc; sniper's calm and reserved stance or heavy's confident and relaxed state is a clear example of that. Not to mention the subtle animation like the little bobbles of soldier's helmet and scout's dog tags are just super fun to watch and really help immerse you. Even on a rewatch I'm catching new details like the little twitch of the fingers at 1:44 showing the blu spy's nervousness and panic or that there is a subtle blue lighting over the soldier to hint at the reveal of him being a spy. You have done an excellent job here, well done!
I love when people create casual moments with the team, and Sniper being dumbfounded at Soldier's reply was gold.
This may be my favorite SFM ever, this is just like what I'd imagine the adult swim show to be directed like. Amazing.
Dude the writing for this is gold, and the animation is great, keep it up man nice work
This is genuinely the best SFM short I've seen in recent times, Great work!
this is great! I love how grounded the characters are, the little twist with soldier, and scout finally figuring it out at the end!
Oh man this animation is SO GOOD. The interactions are super in-character and it was nice watching this twice, knowing the plot twist the second time. The ending made me laugh too. XD Fantastic work!
1:53 This is the coolest view of spy I've ever seen. Keep up these cool animations
Epic! Also 1:53 holy shit this is a nice shot
Somehow I'm not surprised that the Heavy is great at rummy, and the Scout having a book of jokers (and thinking it's a good thing) is absolutely on brand for him.
Haven't seen a high-ass quality SFM like this in a hot minute, you sir have earned yourself a new subscriber. Keep up the great work, man!
your character acting is some of the best I’ve seen in the sfm community, stellar work!!
bro absoloutly amazing conversation and plot, GOOD JOB! keep making these man ur gonna make yourself a name
The fact that by the lines with soldier, the red team know much about each other so well, they know Soldier wouldn't say a line that doesn't match his traits of himself.
If only Blu spy didn't spill too much tea in commenting on the dead ringer... too well.
Had anyone sent me this video and said it was valve's, I woulda believe them, I swear, they look hella natural, Even the cut voicelines doesn't seem that out of place.
Amazing work!
I thought this was done by some big time tf2 youtuber until i saw your channel name and subscriptions. Hot damn, its S tier
Can we just talk about how great the sentence mixing is, how fantastic this animation is and how this guy deserves so many more subscribers
A-level cinematic shots at the end there holy sh1t
Dude gin rummy and tf2 were my childhood. I can't believe this combo actually exists, and done so well too. Great job man !!
Thanks for telling me the card game name
@@namenotfound8525 gin rummy is a great card game. Idk about official rules but these are my family rules:
You have x cards in your hand (10 or 12 depending on round) and have to make a certain number of groups (3+ of a kind) and/or runs (4+ of the same suit in a row).
@@archiveacc3248 I used to play Pesten (translated: Bullying) alot with family. but ever since discovering Rummy, it's become the main card game.
i just wanna point out, the lighting in this is genuinely perfect. what really got me when i noticed it was the blue light on the red soldier. that is genuinely brilliant.
God this is downright amazing. The camera shots, the foreshadowing, the subtle expressions of Soldier, the usage of the voicelines... It's amazing
Great job
feels like this was straight out of an tv episode
That's an insanely smooth animation, it looks official in a way. Fantastic job! And the little story, the way we just see them chill and enjoy some time off. Great stuff.
I love the detail, that at 1:24 blu spy agrees with red spy about dead ringer short cloak, and at 1:43 you can see he has L'etranger equipped
Oooooooh…
Wait that means he does have a dead ringer
Since if he didn’t, he wouldn’t need it as much
The ending is such a scout move 🤣🤣🤣
I mean, does he even know anything about poker?
@@average-art3222 probably not XD
@@Vex-Pegasus I mean, the guy isn't a keen reader so, seeing the comments talk about how the four joker was cards, its imposable, so scout either stupidly got lucky or stupidly placed down a deck of cards he doesn't know but assumes xD
the blue lighting only being on the soldier through the different shots is awesome. a subtle but effective way of foreshadowing, love it!
Why is this actually one of the best SFM's I've ever seen, the lighting, camera, EVERYTHING! IT'S SO GOOD! GREAT WORK!
the animation is so nice and their chemistry is so cute!!! 😭😭 the subtle expressions, the comedic timing... + i keep rewatching for all the little details people point out in the comments.. truly a masterpiece of modern art
