What Tony doesn't mention about Caesar's incident with the pirates is that it was a money-making proposition for Caesar. His men raised the money, but when he recaptured the ransom from the pirates he didn't give it back to repay those who had pledged the money. He kept it all! And spent it on his political career.

  • @greenman6141

It should be pointed out, Tony Robinson isn't the "host"....And that's Sir Tony. THough I am DELIGHTED he doesn't use it.
He WRITES the programmes that he fronts.
There are lots of actors who are pleasant/good looking people, but, er, not all that bright.
Even tried to listening to actors' commentaries on DVDs? "Yeah, he was just great, just great. And, look how great she is. It was just great working with her. The work these guys did, I was like, Wow, like, it was great it was awesome." It's, ahem, great, that they're so positive. But listening to even 20 minutes of that stuff? It's against the Geneva Convention.
Tony Robinson knows things, he's got actual knowledge in his head, and can converse about it, in "real" time. THat's why he fronted Time Team, because he's able to have conversations with archeologists and historians without needing a script and staged interactions.
He's also good at running/ organising things. When he became head of the actors' union, it was half a million pounds in debt. He oversaw a big restructuring and brought it out of debt.
