A DREADFULLY ATROCIOUS Full English BREAKFAST at one of THE LAST REMAINING SAINSBURY's CAFE'S!

- Asda, Morrisons, Tesco all have their own cafe and serve our favourites such as Full English Breakfast and Fish and Chips. However there's one major supermarket that is mission from the BIG 4 and that is Sainsbury's, that's because they have been getting rid of their Cafes and replacing them with Argos and Starbucks, however thanks to you the viewers I have found one of the last remaining Sainsbury's Cafes in The UK in Sheffield, so I thought I'd go along for a Full English Breakfast and see if it's as good as I remember it years ago.

Feel like the odd one out here, but i thought it looked great, presented nicely too, id smash that 9/10
Me too! Looks fine. Bacon has fat, its bacon. Jeez...
I agree it looked really good 👍
The one time I think he was way over critical. Remember the price and it’s half of ones he criticised less. Beans were perfect, you don’t want runny slop. Plus it has toast included even though it should be fried bread. £5.25 come on …our subsidised one at work is way more.
Typical Lee, click bait!
Totally agree the breakfast looked nice to me. What does lee want a Michelin star quality.
A big mac is now something like £5.99 by me so frankly, for £5, that breakfast wasn't a bad deal.
Very harsh with the marking,Lee. It was definitely worth more than that.
Bacon looked absolutely fine, not very fatty at all and a lot less fatty than some you've eaten before and liked. I'd give that breakfast a 7.5 minimum.
Although I obviously never tasted it, I have to say it didn't look too bad. You've certainly had a lot worse!
Very harsh with the marking what do you want for a fiver..
Lee, I think you're getting a bit too fussy in your old age.
Just a normal supermarket breakfast - it's 7 from me.
Bit over picky for the price, 2 bacon and 2 sausages as well
I have to say Lee, someone’s becoming EXTREMELY PICKY !
That breakfast looked absolutely fine, factor in the price too and you can’t go wrong imho
You’ve been spending too much time with your daughter !
Varied comments tonight as some say harsh, some say it looks Cr@p lol :0)
@@DMAEmmeryJohn First time I've ever heard that one, and hopefully it'll be the last.
For £5 , seemed reasonable standard
harsh that bacon looked lovely
Cheap breakfast that looked perfectly edible to me ❤
I thought the same as everyone else 🤣 Sorry Lee but it looked pretty decent to me and cheap as chips, 7/10 😄
Nothing wrong with that breakfast for the price he paid. It’s a fry up, not a Michelin Star meal in a top restaurant
Totally agree. You go into a Sainsbury’s cafe (any supermarket cafe) because it’s quick and easy. I wouldn’t go in expecting a 10/10 breakfast. I had chips eggs and gammon from there before. It wasn’t the best but I didn’t expect it to be. Done the job
You were far too critical on this one Lee. Ok, I didn't taste it but it looked quite presentable. You have had much worse and given them a higher score. For a fiver I'd be happy with that. 7/10 for me.
It felt to me like you were looking to find fault. I didn’t think the sausage looked burnt, the beans dry or the egg overdone. It looked fairly average. Having a bad day?
Nope. Wanted to like it. As I said in the video, I loved Sainsbury's Breakfast.
I didn't think it looked too bad. I'd give it 8/10
Not bad for a fiver
2.1 for a £5 breakfast? Bacon looked ok to me, it did have some fat, but well crisped in the main (and the fat is where the flavour is!) Other bits not perfect, but acceptable for the price. Just think, all that food for a fiver, and your coffee which probably cost them 20p to make was £3… which is the better value?
Looks better than some full English breakfasts that you have paid more than double for….over critical in my opinion
Fiver for that is cracking value. Toast looks fine. Bacon looks fine. Decent hash brown. Sausages perhaps a tad over but not a disaster. Egg also slightly over but just enough yolk. Yeah I'd be happy with this for that price.
I think it looked ok . Bad reviews won't help keep them open . A few staff to cook all day. Well done to them. Looked clean and well presented .
Certainly not waiting in line full of elderly people when I can use self service and be out in about 30 seconds.
For a under 6 pounds u get what you get
Looked okay to me Lee more so for the price, think you may have been a bit picky there!
Didn't look too bad for £5 😁
Lee aka MacMaster well I think you were a little rough on that place, its a cafe in a grocery store ? Looked great and 5.25 really is cheap. What's McDonalds cost there for breakfast? i think the "Silver Fox " will agree with me.
I thought that looked OK to be honest. My only major gripe being the non-crispy hash brown. I always find bacon without fat too dry and prefer a thicker consistency to beans so good for me there!
8 pints last night and a hangover this morning,i'd devour that breakfast lol.
Thought you was harsh with this Lee. Ive seen you have worse breakfast than that & give a higher score .
People are very snobby when it comes to a fry up ! 7/10 looks perfectly edible for a hungry human being 🍳 especially at that fair price
Attitudes like that are why companies ilke Evri/Hermes stay in business for decades despite being totally unsatisfactory. Why people like you forgive being ripped off is something I will never understand.
@@manontheedge4179£5.25…..ripped off…..r u 4 real 😂
@@manontheedge4179 Decent breakfast at that price, where's the rip off ? 🤡
Looks like what I’d expect in a supermarket cafe.
Looked good to me! For the price especially.
Paying over £10 for a full english round here these days.
Just had a full breakfast sausage.bacon.egg.fried bread. toast .beans hash brown .chips.toast.tea..for under £1.50..cooked to order....at home of coarse.😀
I was a store manager for BHS, with restaurants, in both England and Wales.
FYI - £5:25 for that was a generous GIFT. Restaurant overheads INCLUDE : Rent/rates, heat, light and power, equipment - cookers, freezers, fridges and their maintenance, prep tables, cooking implements, staff costs inc. NI, pension contributions, holiday pay, sick pay, maternity pay and staff training etc. Admin. and record keeping (eg toilet, kitchen and seating area cleaning records, fridge/freezer temperature records and product use-by date check records and food wasted recording) PLUS building insurance., public liability insurance. Also stolen crockery/cutlery (mostly teaspoons) costs of those condiments etc. etc.
You effectively had a FREE meal there! :D
(BHS cafe best seller was an item known as 'strawberry flan with cream' - which some of your viewers may remember.. the GROSS margin on that was 65%)!!
Keep 'em coming Lee - I enjoy every one boyo! 😇
Decent breakfast for the price. Coffee way too expensive for a supermarket cafe.
How I miss the Olympic breakfast at the little chef
Looked okay to me but then I can't taste it. Score seemed a bit harsh.
Hi lee that brekky didnt look too bad for a supermarket cafe but as someone said i cant taste it i thought it was worth a 5 ❤❤😂😂
Didn't look to bad for a fiver to be honest. I like my bacon like that as long as the fat is well done. That toast looked intact when you pushed your plate away even though you had cut a big chunk off and put beans on it 😂
Coffee was a bit steep I'd say but all in all it wasn't to bad.
All day breakfast still £5.25p better value than a lot of the places you have been going.
Looked alright to me to be fair. I've seen worse. For a supermarket id be OK with it
I remember going to Littlewoods cafe with mom & nan for breakfast. Gave me enough energy to walk around town.
A tad harsh Lee. Looked acceptable to me apart from the under cooked tomatoes.
Me too, looked fine to me and especially for the price.
Self service checkouts are a must for myself. Waited ages fit my local Aldi to install them. Only want a few items and be stuck behind big trolleys waiting put their goods on the belt and no letting me go before them. Now I am saved 😊
Looks sound for a fiver that think youre being over critical of late which isnt what its about. The brekkie looed sound for a super market brekkie
What did you expect £5 .25 p looked very good value at least it was proper egg not a soggy pre scrambled egg powder mix like some .l only eat the yolk don't like snotty or dried up ones
To be honest, you were a bit contradictory and over critical here, as you've had much worse and scored much higher before. This looked ok to me and pretty standard for a supermarket cafe and the price. It would have been better with tinned tomatoes though, and nice to see a large mushroom on there. The bacon also looked ok to me, a bit of fat on it is not a bad thing and makes it taste better.
I never use self service checkouts, for three reasons (1) I have mild mobility/hip issues, but the stretching/bending required to load bags aggravates my back, (2) I'm left handed!, yes it makes a big difference (probably why reason 1 is more of a problem) and (3) As you mentioned, they don't pay us to do this work.
I used to work at the BHS restaurant in Nottingham. Loved it … Sat job in 1983
The saying goes - it wouldn't do for us all to be the same, because that breakfast would have been perfect for me. Well done egg, bacon and sausage and beans not swimming in juice. I would have discarded the bit of fat off the bacon and toast is toast. You are hardly going to get artisan bread and butter for £5.25. All in all - good value for money. x
I really agree with you over the checkout. It’s like the staff don’t realise. They won’t have a job soon. Same as on line banking. The won’t be Any banks left. Keep up the good work. 👍
I went to waitrose in Chester a couple of weeks ago and they still did breakfast. You could also pop over to fish and chips at Weston Grove about 5 mile away while you are there.
Hi Mac. I live on the outskirts of Sheffield and I never, never drive in Sheffield. When they started with the "bus gates" van drivers would refuse to deliver to our office in the centre of town. For drivers Sheffield is a no go area.
I've steered clear from Sainsbury's Cafes for many years now. I agree Lee they use to be great many moons ago. Had a breakfast at Morrisons today, not bad at all for the money and the staff were great !! Thanks for the review Lee.
Looked yummy and I love the ladies hats very traditional. Perhaps worth a revisit?
Egg looked over done. But overall breakfast looked OK 😊
I use to work in asda cafe grimsby the problem they have they are not owned by asda the belong to a company called compass.they are only allowed to go shopping on the shop floor once a day. I used to keep all the food looking fresh at all times bacon and sausage for example don't over cook them as they sit under the hot plate for a good 30mins and will continue to cook while under that and eggs always cooked to order they take 4 minutes at the most. constantly turning the food regularly do temp checks. I left the cafe because of the way other people thought it was acceptable to searve crap food and now I drive for asda as a home shopping driver.
I appreciate your efforts. Sadly, folk do not realise that many names over the doors mean nothing; Much of their services are done by sub-contractors, such as Compass, who have won the contract with the lowest bid....thereafter...it is a cost cutting exercise and as usual....the customer suffers.
Only the shareholders open the champagne...eh?
An egg told me a joke today it cracked me up!
I had given it a 3.5 on appearance. I thought the sausages looked OK! but I think that if Sainsbury's are closing all their cafés, then the kitchen staff may not be so enthusiastic about the product they are producing, as they will be losing their jobs.😢
My local Sainsburys cafe is now a Starbucks
£5 in a supermarket, looked pretty good to me. Not sure what you expected?
Looked good value to me
Looked fine to me and also very good value.Remember you get what you pay for!
I would go to a Sainsbury’s at Finchley Road in London. It always felt like shopping at a Walmart, vs the Waitrose store nearby, which was always clean and the food was nicely packaged.
I agree about boycotting self service checkouts. Also, when the check out lady has scanned your items pay with CASH.
I had to use the line with a checker today at the grocery store. The self check out was doing an update. Crude oil just went UP to 80 USD per barrel. Pump prices went up since last week here in The States.
Before I became a truck driver I was ripping these cafes out. I heard the reason they are being ripped out is the cost for the supermarket compared to what the cafes are actually making. Hence why they are selling the spaces to outside companies. A few in London have outsourced the spaces to a few takeaway chicken and burger places I haven't heard of before. I could tell you some stories about these supermarkets Lee that would make greasy kebab shops look like the ivy.
The Sainsburys Café in Leigh that too closed and like most Sainsburys Cafés it has been replaced Argos the Cafés was on the upper floor , the one at Leigh had rather slow service if you want fish and chips you was in for a long wait
I like when Aldi have a self service till. It means if you just want a few items you don't have to queue for for ever at the tills
Lol you’ve eaten worse breakfasts than that Lee from what I’ve seen lately lol 😂,you didn’t need to film it m8 you just needed to say where you were going.
The best breakfasts will always be from the have to try harder independents.
This didn’t look too bad considering the price. Cheap and cheerful.
At the very least, it looked better than the crap they served you at Bill’s
Looked good to me..bacon should have fat through it so it cooks well..cutlery was so clean it was exemplary..a fiver, just a fiver..cor blimey...8.5
Food looks delicious
Had an almost identical breakfast today at a garden centre with a black americano at £3.00 and the all day breakfast at £9.50 felt ripped off
When I heard Sheffield ( my home town ) I wondered which Sainsbury's it was as the big ones near me don't have cafes anymore, then saw you were the other side of town, as for the driving in Sheffield, I'm a home shopping delivery driver, it's certainly interesting at times lol.
Good morning Lee, looked a 6 and half for me especially with price. I am controversial in liking English mustard on my breakfast 🍳
Come on lee i think your reviews are getting worse no way is that marked so low it seems to be the trend now but you have to be controversial it gets the ratings, the egg nothing wrong with it maybe not to your liking but it is cooked if it was snoty i would have left it but you have left good food to be honest like people are saying you are being very very picky now but i suppose it would be boring if you gave high scores, like your rules say if you have nothing nice to say dont say it at all just saying.
I think you need to go to Specsavers if you think that breakfast is acceptable. Whoops broke my own rules. 😂 😉👍🏼Hope you're well mate. I can't believe a breakfast is causing so much controversy. 😂 👍🏼
@@TheMacMaster youre the one wearing glasses lol
@@TheMacMaster The Great British Breakfast IS controversial!
We must defend it at all costs! And we shall....on the beaches, in the fields....in the streets... Sorry...got bit sentimental there....
Hi lee
Worked in BHS in stevenage many many years ago
Absolutely loved their restaurant bring in back!!!!
looked fine to me
I have seen a lot worse. Didn't look that bad considering it was only £2 more than the coffee too. I'd say 6 or 7 out of 10 but obviously didn't taste it
I agree with regarding 😊self check outs. I do not use them because why should I - if you got discount on shop then fair enough, total con.
Regarding breakfast - it is a 8 from me - it looked okay and for just over £5 - you cannot complain - you can though 😂.
Used to go to Sainsbury's for a full English on a Sunday morning quite often years ago. It used to be spot on
What’s up with yer lol nice clean brecky ,yes egg not to clever but still worth 8/10 , plus canteen looked v clean
Hi Lee just s heads up there is a booths in lytham-st-annes,and they do fulll English breakfast I go there a few times a week the food is amazing and they have a wine bar and outside tables on veranda in the summer months please try it out
Omg! That's my local sainsbury lol, and you passed the end of our road!😱😉
Self service checkouts should be for a few items only, say three or less, I've being in my local Morrisons and people are going through self service checkouts with trolley's
Morrisons at staveley have just added 3 more self service tills i think there's 4 tills left😮
Proper canteen style food at British Home Stores back in the day, supermarkets today can't get anywhere as close!
Looked lovely to me but i didnt taste it so….
That area looked as rough as a badgers back end.
Never mind the breakfast.
Hope your wheels were still intact when you finished eating.
Yes Mac my hamilton Sainsburys Scotland cafe is closed all the punters have moved to my store Morrisons in Hamilton Scotland where I work .
I would say on this one that your description didn’t match the video Lee? I “took a closer look” and it looked very good for a supermarket. I’d give it 8. No sir I think you were a little harsh. IMHO.
I agree my friend, my local Morrisons at Gamston Notts, make people use self service until 8am on Saturdays, very unpopular move. Seems petty but I like having a person at the till to checkout with
Sounds like a nice cheap breakfast though if there’s nobody to see what you’ve pinched.
For the price your score is way too low Lee.
It's because they own Argos so closing Argos stores and sticking them in Sainsbury's savings to be had
i would pay a fiver for that beans looked dry but for a fiver you cant moan at least an 8/9 unfair score there mate i would have ate that and been happy for paying a fiver
The trouble with supermarket cafe's and some pubs and other places are the staff are just working their for a wage so no passion there.. unlike alot of family run businesses who have to work and to please the customers to keep giving them selves a wage.. like you always say support local and people like that 💯
Hi Lee! Myself and my dad are long term viewers, another cracking video!
One question : will you ever make an appearance in Liverpool? Don’t worry, they won’t nick your tyres! 🤣
There's a big one in Leek Staffordshire. Sainsbury's Cafe. Lee have you tried ASDA or Mozzer's lately? They used to be ok. In The Past . Tesco obviously turned their's in to COSTA Mortgage..👍.
