The tight stuff is managable....but right after the tide goes out....further away from the bank, this stuff can really get you in trouble if you are alone.....I have been swallowed up to my chest and by the time I got "semi free" I was extremely fatigued and a coworker had to help me out with a small sheet of wood which we used to navigate across with....I was messing around and found a really soft spot I wasnt expecting....dont get caught in it as the tide is rising. Enjoy!

Yes, this is very true,. I love messing around on mudflats here in the UK, usually on my own,but I'm always mindful of the tide times, and always try and test the mud depth carefully. I consider it safer if its an outgoing tide, at least it gives more time to free yourself if you get very stuck. A mobile is handy, too !!!!

I believe pluff mud can smother you like quicksand that's why I try to avoid it as much as possible

Then people, when stuck, will become a nutrient themselves... very important!
