The bigger question is why is this song so fitting for Sinatra's genre and tone of music? He's perfect to have sung this. I think his style is 100x better than the original.
it fits Sinatra but to say his style is 100x better than the original is just too much. you can say 'different' but definitely not better. remember the original was intended for a Disney Pixar film. Sinatra's style doesn't really fit that genre.
It’s because the original version was already written in common chord progressions used in many of Franks other songs/ songs of the time. It was also written in a swing style which Sinatra is known for.
This hits even harder when you realize that Don Rickles (Mr. Potato Head) was a really close friend of Sinatra for decades and toured with him in the 90's. Don was a paulbearer at his funeral.
I listen to all these AI covers people are doing. Sinatra is the only one that I think sounds exactly like him. Idk how we have managed this, I know its not his real voice and that's why I always feel a bit of guilt when listening to these and actually enjoying them. But he had such a unique voice, im so glad AI can somewhat replicate it as if Sinatra was still here, its quite warming.
You can tell it sounds weird in some places, but the fact that this is even possible is remarkable. If this had been played on the radio with the listeners not knowing it was AI, I think many would be fooled.

This fits so well because in the Toy Story-verse, Woody is to 50s toys what Frank Sinatra was to 50s music. It would’ve been really cool to have Woody’s theme song performed by a genuine crooner from back in his heyday.
This honestly just sounds like AI loosely generating Sinatra doing Buble Karaoke. If you listen to the Buble version of this song he uses a lot of the same exact musical notes and lilts.
“You just remember what your ol’ pal said… you’ve got a friend in me” I know a lot of Frank Sinatra quotes/lyrics and damn this sounds like something he would of said/sang 😭
It's way too obvious this is Michael Buble, just based on the vocal style. The tone of voice is Sinatra but that style is not how he would have performed. Cool idea though!
I've tried SO many times to make a version of that but i've never managed to make one that's good enough to upload. It's hard finding a good enough audio to use as the base of it all, and the layered vocals complicates everything unfortunately. Unless I record all of the vocals myself beforehand, I sadly don't think that's one i'm going to be able to do. Was really hoping to do a full Pixar album for Sinatra.
I wonder if Michael Buble has any say in this. It IS his recording they are using as a template. But then, he is a huge fan of the classic crooner style.
I don't know how the AI actually works but this is basically Micheal Buble's version if you listen to the musical arrangement. And also the singing, although the AI trasforms the voice, still presents all the characteristics of Buble's voice and mannerisms, with the little tone shifts and licks. Sinatra had very few of those, every time he held a note he did so with a very still, pure sound. I don't know, it's like they basically took Buble's record and transformed the voice, so it still sounds a little weird to me. Nevertheless the overall stile of the two singers is similar, so it fits quite well.
You’re right. It sounds more like Michael Buble’s voice…inflections and everything. Perhaps a little lower tone, but definitely more Buble than Sinatra.
Yeah, the whole AI music stuff is still relatively new (only a couple months old at this point) so there's not much you can do about the mannerisms of the original singer unless you find a version that sounds eerily similar to who you're trying to replicate or you do a mean impression of them and have the recording setup to do the vocals yourself. I did use the Bublé vocals as the the starting vocals, so unfortunately it did end up as a fusion of the two. Tried my best to make it lean a little more towards the Sinatra side, but from what i'm seeing in the comments, it seems its more like a 50/50 split lmao. I listened to it enough times in the process of making it that I more than likely lost touch with how much it did and didn't sound like him and was just happy with how it sounded compared to the initial rough draft.
At first blush, yes it sounds like Sinatra's voice. But it's not his phrasing (It's definitely Buble's phrasing). This was very good you did a great job. Can you do ‘beyond the sea’ . Others have tried but sounds kinda terrible. They did not clean it up or line up voices properly etc. Bobby Darin’s cover would work best.
I've actually got a rough draft of that already made! Just haven't had the chance to re-record some of the vocals where it got a little weird and artifacty in the original recording. The problem with the Bobby Darin version though is the original vocals are vintage and not super clear, so those tend to run into issues with ai conversions unless you're using a somewhat similar sounding model. I found one that's very similar however and high quality after some digging so I miiiiight be able to get that out some time next week or if you've got a discord I could send you what I have so far. It already sounds better than most of what I could find.
