Hello. My dad used to do that in Tornio Finland when I was a kid. After school I hop on my kelkka pulled by my dog and followed the snowmobile tracks to the sea & find him. Mom used to give me bag of stuff & lighter so I could burn it & warm my toes. He died when I was 12 and I really didn't know how he did that. It was over 40 years ago so they had to do it without that beeping thingy. Fun and interesting to watch. Thank you 👍

Cal Rutstrum explained this in his book the new way of the wilderness and I saw an example of it in a museum in Canada. This is soooo cool to actually see in use. Thank you for posting this!

second, put in in the first, pump it out, find it, make a second hole where it is, hook up the line, pull it out, tie the net on the line where you pulled it out and pull the net under from the first hole

of ice in the lake so we could hear the gill in the ice.
