I gather from one of the previous comments that the soprano’s name is Emma and that she is not satisfied by her performance. Emma, if by any chance you get to read this, you have brought tears to my eyes not just the first time I’ve played this video, but the second time as well! Didn’t get to play it the 3rd time without writing this first, hah! The moment you get to the piece’s climax just makes my eyes water. The way your voice fills that room is incredible. The choir and pianist also do an impressive job. I wish you guys all the best! PS: Thank you for this recording!
I had this had this at my uncles funeral in 2006 my baby was 6 weeks when he died in front of me old he had been my mum and dad for 25 years still very current in my mind x
Brilliant work guys. Fabulous sound and atmosphere created here, it was very moving. The blend with the choir, piano and your stunningly wonderful soprano soloist was magical. So enjoyable. Well done all.
If that's ropey Emma, I'm a miners daughter!... (and I'm not by the way ;-) Honestly, this number of Hawes is a fave. The kinda beauty that can bring tears. (and only Ludwig does that to me normally). You and the choir did it gorgeous justice. Ta ;-)
Lovely version. My only reservation is that the lack of the oboe scored by Patrick Hawes misses the blending of voice and instrument on the version by Haley Westenra. But, very beautiful still.
This is sooo beautiful….thankyou for such a flavour of Heaven and Angelic….🙏👼🙏
Emma - I second that, your performance is absolutely stunning. Thank you for such a beautiful song.
