This is a great IF you want to recycle the sludge; makes fir excellent fertilizer. Dirty water comes in, heavier crap settles to the bottom as the water is diffused. For looking for more like a bio- filter. You could add anything from lava rocks ( harder to clean out filter), bio balls, or mesh. The key is to provide a surface for " bio" to grow on. Still, you'll likely end up with sludge on the bottom, but the water will be cleaner from a " bio" point of view. Nitrates are is a factor that bio also addresses fairly well depending on the set- up. Adding a single UV light where the water pools before returning really makes a huge difference if you like clear water. Adding salt is another plus. Speaking experience 35x17x4deep pond with over 40 koi.
A great video I really enjoyed it you have a new subscriber. I am original from Nottingham England but I emigrated to Newfoundland Canada in 1990 - 2018 I decided to keep koi in my garden pond like I did in the UK but here the winter is brutal like -20 is very common so we have our own chalenges. Plus we can’t purchase equipment so I have to make everything ie filters etc. Cheers Mate.
But is there anything/mechanism that pumps water out of the pond into the filter? I wanna understand how the water travels from the pond into the filter for recycling

There is a difference between bio filter & sand filter , working for both is different
Great idea for this DYI pond filter. Well done I really like the Concept

Thanks 🙏🏻
You can add air filter, it will provide air & temperature to the water, The growth of the fish will also increase
Quite creative. What of the aerator for oxygenation to make it a complete recirculatory system flow.
Cool idea love fish 🐟
Thank you 🙏🏻

Ty for making the video
Thank you
Много Добре!

Actually for this filter system pump will be in pond
@@lkhousefishfarm12 alright, thanks a lot for the prompt response. Just started Catfish Farm last month, that's why i wanted to know
@@Head-ScratcherHQ thanks
Hi , what size pvc pipe fr inflow , outflow and drain?
Outflow should be at least 150% of inflow.
@@danielwykowski6069 thank you
some friend suggested me that he burned a iron pipe piece or gi pipe in wood fire and then melted holes in the plastic drum.
Uvl light for what purpose please
UV Light for Kill Green Water If your pond have no UV light the water in pond will be green can not see fish
did you forget to put sand and gravel and stones bruh ? filtration is incomplete without these at least for a dirty pond water!
Bisa beli di mana bos
Just a sponge is enough ?? What about other mediums like bioballs, stones and another layers ??
Normally we use only sponge and UV it’s working great for us
Lava rock of various sizes, the lava rock can create anaerobic as well as aerobic bacteria to convert and remove natrates.
What are the blue connectors called and what size for the return valve
@@PONDSAGA5
Depending on the flow rate of the pump the return should be 150% larger than the input, most people install 2 returns for safety!
Needs a drain in bottom
Ok I will try
About as useful as a chocolate tea spoon
We do it for our tank at shop it's work very well
