Leaving Coronado for Volcan - Panama

- Volcan is in the Chiriqui province and considered to be the 'bread basket' of Panama as that is where most of the agriculture is produced. After 14 months in Coronado and Gorgona, I realized the beach climate is too hot for me day-to-day. I'm doing a housesit in Volcan and will look for a place to live.

After 6 months of house sitting in Coronado, and with more freedom of movement in the country, I'm heading up to Volcan!
"The mountains are calling and I must go." - John Muir
I really like your attitude and also how you value the little things, Panama is the country where I was born and I had not realized that it was so beautiful, thanks for your videos. I am also thinking about when I retired, returning to live in Panama, have a blessed day day 🌹
Thank you! The more I discover #Panama the more beautiful it gets 🇵🇦
This is one of the nicest videos I've seen on Panama keep up the good work enjoy Paradise
Thank you so much, and for subscribing 🙏🕊☺️
Beautiful place coronado so natural place good for living there
Waiting impatiently for your videos of Volcan.
Laura Yale 🤣 it’s coming! Most of the video is plants and birds. I’m loving Volcan so far.
@@Pattybluehayes Please do a walk or drive thru of the town.
Wow the views are incredible.
In the year and a half I'd been in Panama, the beauty still thrills me ☺️
Wow very nice ....my friend wants to go check out Panama in the spring or summer when things open up his wife doesn't want to go so I'm going to go with him hopefully we go he's been searching Panama for a long time I have been going to Dominican for 2-3 months but Panama seems to be very nice so we will see..... enjoy Paradise
Enjoy your visit with him! I’ve spent some time in the DR, Puerto Plata area and a resort in one of the resort areas ☺️
@@Pattybluehayes I was in sosua for 2 months last year and also two weeks last year in sosua for the first time I always went to Punta Cana I really like sosua cuz it was a small Beach town I had a small motorbike that I went to different restaurants.. very cheap to live their rents are cheap
@@Doug-zl8nb wow! Did you go to Cabarette? Nice spot with beachfront restaurants. That’s it - Punta Cana - couldn’t recall the name ☺️
can't wait to come visit!
The trash situation is so annoying. The government offers no trash removal on certain areas and people pretty much picked a spot where they dump their trash. The crazy thing to me is that those businesses that are past the dump haven’t team up to clean the area and maybe put more pressure on authorities to do something about it...aNd maybe they have. I am Panamanian and trash situation is sad and embarrassing 😢
ravicasi Wow, I didn’t know trash pick up wasn’t even offered in some areas. I do hope it will improve, and that more people will embrace recycling 😊
PattyBlueHayes I hope so too. There are so many issues: 1. Educating the population 2. Trash pick up 3. People too poor to pay for private pick up. Panama is a rich country, the only reason there is no money is because corruption is so high that all the money gets stolen. Anyways, the positives for me outweighs the negatives so I hope to move back sometime in the future. Thank you for showing the beauty of my country and people, we will get there 😊
ravicasi Maybe when you return you’ll help bring the education and awareness 😊 Fighting corruption seems like an impossible feat 🙁
Is this a problem, with just Coronado, or other cities?
I thought you were going to Volcan in this video?
I didn’t see Volcan.
Great vid
Patty I love your videos. Please make more. I want to move down there. I think the entire population of the USA might move down there we are all so fed up. Then it will be ruined. lol
☺️thank you! I’m glad you like my videos. Yup - I got out of the states in 2019 and very happy with my life in Panama. You should make a few trips and explore different parts of the country, there’s so much beauty here 🦋
@@Pattybluehayes I want to see your new house and all the changes you made. so cool.
wow what an awesome video. Love the beach scene, so relaxing... think I will head to the beach today!!
Ann Raybon Thankyou!!! I’m 88% uploading the next video. Slight internet issues 🙁
I'm from Panama and thank you for showing the reality including that guy actively throwing out trash on the side of the road. I would have confronted and challenged him and/or called the authorities or photographed his license plate. That was disgusting! I'm fighting the same darn thing in New Jersey where I'm currently staying due to covid. The community decided to organize and do some cleanup, which is good. But that doesn't stop the trash throwers in the woods, even with Forest Rangers with eyes on the backs of their heads. Some people are just pigs. Plus its easier to litter than to clean up the litter. But its also easier than one would think not to litter.
fanfare100 Someone reminded me that I’m the US, where I’m from, we had bad litter and dumping problems.
I think that guy in the truck had dirt he was dumping 🤞
I hope people will learn to respect our beautiful planet 🌎
When you see sites like the one you showed where people started dumping trash on the side of the road let the proper authorities know about it, so they can take legal actions against violators. I am very tired of seeing unscrupulous people trashing our environment.
Papi Unfortunately, nothing has been done about this known area. It’s my understanding that it is known to the authorities. As a foreign resident with little Spanish, I don’t feel it’s my place to say anything.
@@Pattybluehayes There is a lot of people who speak fluent English in this country and you as a foreign person, power to get things done is something you have. Exercise your rights as a resident of this country. Don't be afraid to speak up when you see something that isn't right around you.
Patty, I'd love to chat with you..I spent last winter (2 months +) in Panama..mainly in the bocas area..also house sat for a few weeks there ..I'm interested in renting a small place in or near volcan
Nice - I don’t know much about rentals in Volcan, I’m about 5 1/2 hours from there.
@Pattybluehayes sorry senora,my mistake..I thought that you were going that direction..any good suggestions anyhow??
Wait, are we talking about Volcan on the west, close to Costa Rican border? Google shows it about 1 hr from David, it should have no sea nearby, or am I confusing it with some other place?
That's it - Volcan in the Chiriqui province. Up the mountain from David.
@@Pattybluehayes So as per Google, Volcan should be 50-70km from Pacific ocean, how can you see it from your window (as in the video at the end)? Or is it in Coronado (there might be Anton Valley mountains there)?
@@olegkon1 I was in Coronado first where the ocean view is, then I drove to Volcan.
@@Pattybluehayes So where is the last 2 mins of your video, in Volcan or Coronado?
@@olegkon1 Technically, it’s Nueva Gorgona - near Coronado. It’s the Royal Palm building ☺️
Is your friend still renting places? If so, where and how much?
Her website appears to be down at the moment 🙁
When you do house sitting do you pay anything at all for being there
Sometimes I get paid and for longer sits, it’s just an exchange.
How did you get a house sitting job?? I would love to do that
I found mine through word of mouth. But you can register on sites like Trusted Housesitters, MindMyHouse and FB groups for Panama house sits :-)
The insomniac roosters were pretty loud when you could hear them so clearly on the 15th floor. Looking forward to seeing the video of the rest of your journey to Volcan...
Is there a lot of demand for house sitters?
Glenn lol, I know! Those roosters have a lot to say! I don’t know about the demand for house sitters but I’m sure people will want to get away after such a long quarantine 😊
Are you a permanent expat? Have you got the pensionado visa 😀 ?
I’m a permanent resident through the Friendly Nations Visa - but those requirements just changed considerably making it less easy and timely to gain residency 😕
Do all this by yourself?
Observer Station Yes 😊
@@Pattybluehayes I guess it's very hard for ladies without a helping hand... as I know if it were my girlfriend, she needs me make everything ready for her..
No city dump landfill for trash?
Barry Thacker There is trash pick up but some people don’t want to pay for it. And I think construction waste would cost money to bring to the proper landfill.
