Early day history until and the glory days of the 1980's Cradley Heath Heathens was a top tier British league speedway team for many years, hosting many World Champions.
Awwww very nice! I bet you wish they still had the Heathens? That's such a shame, I hope you got to enjoy a lot of matches there. Such a cool speedway team with legendary riders
Fantastic video. So nostalgic for me. All those riders names I remember. But particularly because I was born in the house right next to the church you can see in the video at 6.20. and lived there from 1963 until 1985. Can I just say though, that it’s pronounced Craydley
Great video, Bryan. It bought back great memories of many happy Saturday evenings at Dudley Wood. The area was famous for making chains and nails, hence the hammer on the race jacket, and the Golden Hammer individual meetings, which was a World Final quality field. 'Ommer 'um, Cradley.
All I can say is you are one lucky person to have those great memories in such a great venue as Dudley Wood! What a cool place and some great years as well, I wished I had raced there as a young racer, all my mates raced in England at that time and I really missed not going b but it's okay I'm still racing speedway so it's all good, thank you for sharing your memories I love hearing that!!! Such great memories too mate.
Can remember Bruce the fox penhalls last race there as a 7 year old.then watching my heroes billy and Greg till it shut amazing memories still feels like a dream
Lol, thank you this is great as I’ve been a fan since I was kid! But it would be even more epic if you actually pronounced Cradley correctly. It’s actually pronounced as if it was spelt: ‘Craydley’ Or like ‘Cradle’ thanks again, love the memories!
