The way you described your entry in D&D..... From video games to actual tabletop and onward to crafting.... That was my path too, exactly. To the dot. Discovered your channel today. Excellent!!
That turned out so awesome!!! I think it would be cool to slowly fill the shelves of a piece like that with all kinds of gaming-related stuff, like sheets, cards, dice, maybe even mini-minis and collectibles!
I really enjoyed seeing the strong creative vision behind this project. The final result looks great, simple enough not to be distracting but with a lot of aesthetic appeal. I love the smaller details like the corner protectors and the classic RPG books on the shelves too. Nice work!
Thank you so very much! I’m super happy with this. Working with wood is very fulfilling but can be a bit intimidating. So I’m glad (and relieved) it came out so well.
Awesome work. I want to build my own DM screen. I'm only playing on VTT now, but celebrating the hobby that brought me so much is reason enough to try it.
One thing I would recommend is to apply one more layer of protection. It’ll further bond the books to the shelves, but more importantly it will protect the books from scuffing.
I had forgotten all about GURPS until I saw your tiny book version of the rulebook. I played GURPS in the early 90's. Thanks for the Nostalgia. :) And thanks for yet another amazing project.
That’s precisely what I was aiming for. The whole ogl thing pushed me a bit away from 5e which (though sad) motivated me to look into other games. The hobby is more than D&D and this video is just my way of saying that. Thanks for watching!
Been playing TTRPGs for a really long time and while I have played DnD, I do know and have played many other games. While I have a nostalgic feel for DnD as it was one of the very first RPGs I played, I have never really cared for level based RPGs, so a long time ago, I decided when I run a fantasy game in my home brew game world, I usually use Basic Role Playing, as I prefer that system more. Your GM screen looks very nice! Thanks for sharing.
This is gorgeous but I'd caution others to do the gluing and clean up first, saving the staining for last. Wood glue expects to be glued to raw wood, not stained, this seemed to cause no problems here, but might for others depending on the stain.
Great video, very enjoyable to watch. I might look at building something similar but with slightly deeper trays to hold dice. And maybe an LED strip underneath to light up the transparent ones. Players could pick out dice from the trays as they needed them.
Paint doesn't adhere well to galvanized steel because of the layer of zinc coating on its surface, which inhibits proper adhesion. Zinc is a non-reactive metal and doesn't form a strong bond with the paint. Additionally, the surface of galvanized steel is often slick and shiny, making it difficult for the paint to stick. You can kinda get something to stick by roughing up the surface first, but it all comes off eventually.
Woodworking+ttrpg, I'm in! Been looking for some ideas to build my screen too. Don't know if I'll go down the metal+magnet route. Did you consider other options? Cork? Sliders?
Well with cork you would need an appropriate thickness to pin something to it and you would need to factor that in if you would want the screen to be foldable. But no I haven't really thought about alternatives to the metallic surface tbh.
Thank you! This is an interesting idea. I work mostly with paper notes so I have no use for a tablet holder is. But sure you could add something like that.
This was absolutely incredible. You showed a sheet right at the end, around 15:35 that had some cool and simplistic descriptions of equipment. What game does it belong to?
I think arcana was the fourth of the gothic series but it was by a complete different team. Gothic 1-3 were made by Piranha Bytes, after that I lost track tbh.
Well this is part of the game “Knave” by Ben Milton (Questing Beast). It’s digitally available for 2.99 at DrivethruRPG : www.drivethrurpg.com/m/product/250888
very nice GM screen. I like the idea of your tiny book case of RPGs, I just don't agree with a lot of the selections, especially if you are going for a wide representation of the hobby as a whole. You have a LOT of OSR games, which are just in essence different flavors of older editions of D&D. It just seems redundant. You have a wide selection of influential games from throughout the history of the hobby, but there just feels like there are some that are missing that should really be there that aren't. I just cant remember them all lol
There are definitely games missing. Most of the games are from other RUclipsrs, community suggestions and the website I mentioned. The osr focus is simply based on my own interest so I agree that this may be slightly over represented. Also I wanted to show people who are a bit disillusioned with WotC that there is more out there that D&D players might enjoy. But again this is far from being a definitive selection.
This is a very inspiring build... Brings a tear to my eye how it honors and pays homage to the entire hobby and its history... Definitely gonna inspire a million more dm screens including my own. 🥲👌

Yeah most video games sadly don’t hook me anymore… But awesome this resonates with you. I’m really happy you like my stuff!
same same same same same ;3
Just wow! That is probably the coolest idea for a GM screen I have ever seen. Well done man, incredibly impressive.
Das ist auf jedenfall einer der coolsten DM Screens den ich je gesehen hab.
Vielen Dank! :)

This is an awesome idea! A little memorabilia shelf for past adventures. Love it!
AMAZING! One of the coolest GM Screens I have ever seen and certainly the most unique

@@LenricsRealm Have you tried the Burning Wheel?
I adore the tiny little mork borg
I simply love this. Great build. Makes me miss my D&D days.
I had no idea where you were going with this. I am very impressed and now I want to build a similar screen.
What a nice hobby related woodworking project!
Thank you very much :)
Very nice. That seems really functional. Cool you mentioned my buddy, Seth; his charts are super useful to have handy, whilst GMing
Thanks to his channel I bought the starter set of Call of Cthulhu 😄 really love his stuff!
Great build, and great video.
Thanks! Glad you like it!
great work. i absolutly love it, the idea, the concept and the finished Screen are flawless or as we say in german "Da kannste nicht meckern"
Just Beautiful work…thank you for sharing!
Thank you for watching!

I bought Basic Roleplaying some time ago but sadly hadn’t had a chance to go through it. The premise though seems pretty awesome and versatile.
The screen looks really really good. Good job

Stoked to see Mork Borg represented!
Great job on this.
This is not the last time you’ll see this game on this channel 😄
It's so AMAZING!!!!

This is just gorgeous. I’m at a loss for words.
Thank you very much for your kind words:)
Id love to make myself a screen like this ❤
Go for it :)
Amazing!! Fantastisch! 😉😍

Thank you for adding that! I have to see how this 'metal-lacquer' performs in the long run. No scratches yet :)
add a top carrying handle and a door clip and its easily portable
Very cool!
What am amazing concept!
Thank you very much! :)

Okay, this was super cool... but why not make the DM side of this mini-cabnet a tablet holder?
Thank you! This is an interesting idea. I work mostly with paper notes so I have no use for a tablet holder is. But sure you could add something like that.
very unique thanks for this
Thank you for taking your time and watching this!
oh man it's fun to see unknown armies on there
Your videos are top notch
Thank you :)
This was absolutely incredible. You showed a sheet right at the end, around 15:35 that had some cool and simplistic descriptions of equipment. What game does it belong to?
Thank you! Great you like it! The sheet is from the game Knave by Ben "Questing Beast" Milton: www.drivethrurpg.com/product/250888/Knave
@@LenricsRealm Thank you so much!
So im going to take this idea and flip it around (literally) and use it for a miniature carrier!
Awesome idea!
Hopefully you add lancer! It’s an amazing game!! Plus you’re missing one that begins with L 😉
I have to admit that I wasn’t familiar with this game. Looks interesting though. Thanks for the suggestion!
@@LenricsRealm of course! I specialize in finding niche ttrpgs, if theres a niche, theres a game

I hope that's a good thing :D
Hope lion and dragon is in their lol
But this is awesome 👌
WOW
The only downside is that it's not my style, but this is impressive nonetheless. Amazing project
Could you apply his techniques to make one that is?
....I don't use a dm screen with my 5e game
And new follower
Absolut großartig
They there, i am actually making my own TTRPG. i think you might enjoy it alot. would you be interested in chatting about it?
