OUT STANDING VIDEO! Very thorough, very informative. You answered every question I had about this rack and even some questions I didn't even know I had. Thank you, well done.
Fantastic video. You mentioned a couple issues I had not previously considered. I know it takes a lot of work to create a video like this. Thanks for doing it.
So, I need to purchase this for the sake of transporting my dirt bike. This is a very informative video. Thank you so much. Now I feel a lot better about purchasing this product.
This was the most complete video for all phases of what to do with this particular carrier. The only thing I would suggest is finding a few synonyms for skosh (hair, bit, smidgen, touch, tad)? Thanks for the assist.
Awesome video! I wish this would have been around when I first purchased mine. As simple as these things seem to be to use, you really touched on some very important things that most of us would overlook in the beginning.
I've had one for over a year now and am happy with it, for the price. For me it was too high off the ground so I had to buy their extension, that lowers the rack a bit. Even with the anti-tattle brackets, or whatever they call them, the unit seems quite loose, but that hasn't been a problem. I might mention that the black plastic knobs are junk, I've had two of the break off. They need some kind of metal wing nut, I'll probably have to weld something up.j Thanks for the demo and review. Jim
This guy sure does love the word " Skosh " ! Btw great tutorial very informative. As for the bending I ended up taking off their supports on both sides and put 1.5"x1.5" square tubing across the length on top of the carrier then drilled through the middle and each end then bolted them down at the corners and through the middle section and now it doesn't bend at all!
I think I'm gonna get this for my 85 pound fat tire ebike. I plan on completely cutting off the entire end that holds the ramp, it can go into my vehicle, probably less of a chance someone steals it anyway lol It is on sale right now for $139 with Inside Track membership!
Great Video, I like your honest review of the bending under load. I have to politely disagree about the statement, "No bend after unloading". Your video shows a minor bend remaining in the carrier after unloading.
Thanks Christopher, This video made it much easier to put my 100 # E-Bike on this carrier. You present the processes very clearly. It was super helpful to know the things to do before hand. I love this carrier. Great Work!
First and foremost, thank you for the tutorial, I couldn’t have done it without you. As somebody who makes tutorials, I appreciate the effort it takes. However, my one criticism is when you had the brackets on upside down. You should have re-filmed that part because that is very confusing, especially to a non-English speaker that doesn’t always pick up on the notes like you left on the screen. Nonetheless not trying to be rude or anything. I appreciate the tutorial as mine did not come with any instructions.
Great video. I have been looking at one of these to haul my wife's Honda Rebel 300 on vacations with. Also, thanks for teaching me the word "skosh". I've never in my life heard it, but my wife heard it a lot as a kid. FYI for this as nerdy as I am and may be interested: "Borrowed from Japanese 少し (sukoshi, “a little bit”), originally US armed forces slang." Makes sense that my wife knew it, as she grew up in a military family.
No...well...it may have been Fed X"s fault...but my experience says to me...maybe not...I picked mine up yesterday at Harbor Freight...and my box looked very similar to yours...
@@ChristopherLum Great info video...made putting mine together much, much easier!! Thankfully nothing was missing or damaged in my nearly non existing box. :)
Excellent video. I'll be buying one of these carriers to transport my e-bike & e-scooter on my Sprinter. The bike will rest on the carrier, and the scooter will fold and rest on the ramp. BTW, the reason the platform deflected downward is because the weight of the bike and the downward pressure exerted by the straps exceeded the design limit of the carrier. The bike weighs a nominal 300 pounds. The force exerted while compressing the suspension would have easily been >100 pounds, thus exceeding the device rating. That's my guess, anyway.
A helpful tip. Don’t use the cheapest weakest straps you can find to strap your bike down. When your moving around the bike may have forces acting upon the strap that increases the bikes weight on the strap.
I'm glad it was helpful! In case you are interested, I have a similar video that shows a hitch that is good for smaller bikes and cargo at ruclips.net/video/g5EULqpJCQ8/видео.html. Thanks for watching!
I just bought this yesterday for a Razor EcoSmart Metro Scooter. Thin 16” tires: I just removed the wing nuts and it works fine. I plan to chop off the extension that holds the ramp. Who needs that? I can throw the ramp in the SUV.
Thanks for the in depth video my friend, but I wished I was there at certain points to just give ya a hug and tell you to slow down lol. You know what you are taking about so be confident in yourself! I also understand that may just be the way you are wired and I respect either way! Thanks for the info
You mention in this video that the front tire locks barely work on your front tires because the width of the tires is narrow, Do you know when the left and right tire holds are screwed all the way in what the measurement between the two holding points. What is the width of the opening when the two tire hold downs are all the way in? This will tell me if my fat tire (4") e-bike will work with this ramp.
It is always great to run into someone else from the evergreen state. Thanks for watching and for subscribing, I hope to catch you at another video in the future!
Sadly I think that looks a little to weak for the real world. I am going with the black widow dirt bike carrier. Great video, you covered everything completely, thanks for a great video.
I load the carrier from one direction using the ramp provided. To unload, I don't use the ramp, I just start the engine and walk the bike off in the same direction it was loaded. I believe you can't do that with the black widow, because it has a thing that traps the front tire. As mentioned elsewhere, the black plastic knobs are junk, there needs to be a better solution, metal wing nuts?
The condition of your box may not be Fe Ex fault at all, I bought this same exact Motorcycle Carrier yesterday in the Store and the box looked suspicious. If you consider the length and the weight of this item then you will realize they mere paper will have a difficult time staying intact.
Bought one but just took it back. Installed on a 3500hd 4x4 dually with a hitch adapter to also tow a sea doo. The bike was too far off the ground to safely load/unload with any degree of control. The ramp that comes with it is too short under the circumstances and it makes it too steep. I tried a longer ramp and supports under each side. Just too much to handle for a xr150l which is about 300 pounds.
FedEx??? Say no more.....😩 That's the unit I'm looking at for my 100# e-bike. Gotta take some measurements, but I'm pretty sure it will fit. Can't beat the price and capacity, compared to "e-bike" racks. Think they just tag on the word e-bike and double or triple the price...
Great video! I was thinking if those 2 metal ‘strap’ stabilizer bars seen on the top were underneath pushing up instead it would alleviate some of the bending. What kind of camera are you using - is it 4K? The video quality is excellent!
I think I'm getting this for my dirtbike. When replacing the pin with a bolt, you might want to make shure to get the highest grade bolt.I believe grade 8 is strongest but not shure.Grade 5 is automotive grade and anything less may not be safe.

Great video. Would you recommend the straps that you used? I cannot see where you said what these are. Can you tell us which straps you are using? Go DAWGS!
I do like the straps. These are Harbor Freight straps. On their website they are called "HAUL-MASTER400 lb. Capacity, 1 in. x 15 ft. Ratcheting Tie Downs, 4-Pack". Thanks for watching!
Very good video. I am thinking about these for an eventual van conversion and to take a dual purpose bike with me. How are you finding the ground clearance when negotiating hills and ferry ramps?
When loading from the right, you used a jack and a ‘chock’. When unloading to the left, you only used a jack. Is the left side of the carrier lower than the right?
I have the same type of van as yours. Once the bike is off the carrier, how much clearance do you have at the bottom of the doors when you open them from the highest point of the carrier
So I’m one of those people whose rim is too tall .. :( ant recommendations or solution to this. I just bought it and realize I can’t get that pin through for extra security :/ super bummed out
Watching this video as I just got one and the directions are lacking. Mine arrived in about the same state from FedEx. So far only minor damage. Edit: it’s damaged. Gonna have to take it back. Ugh
My car only takes a 1.25” receiver. If I use an adapter to get to a 2” receiver, do you think that would be okay? My bike weighs less than 100#. Thanks for a great, detailed video.
Drink every time he says “a skosh”. Congrats, you’re now completely hammered.

I think you're a skosh too critical. LOL
Life is like a Box of Skoshes
Thank you for this comment. I would have never noticed, but now I laughed every time he said it.
Awesome video! I wish this would have been around when I first purchased mine. As simple as these things seem to be to use, you really touched on some very important things that most of us would overlook in the beginning.
Hi Andy, thanks for the kind words. I'm glad the video was entertaining and thanks for watching!

I drilled out the front receiver hole to make it hold my locking trailer pin, and I cut off the bar holding on the ramp to get it out of the way.
Thanks Christopher,

Great video…65 YO Single woman looking for way to travel w/my Rad Runner + ebike on my class C Winnebago 24D.

some great features on this beast.
I think the van needs a lift :)
Thanks for sharing
Thank you sir. Your a bad ass
thanks for your help man appreciate you
Thank you for making this video...gotta tell ya...it looks complicated to lock down.
You mention in this video that the front tire locks barely work on your front tires because the width of the tires is narrow, Do you know when the left and right tire holds are screwed all the way in what the measurement between the two holding points. Following up, How has it performed over the last 3 years?
Superb. Very informative. Like your jack stand support idea!!
Just remember that your van is now wider since the front wheel sticks out.
Thanks very nice video
On the front wheel clamp, if you had a thinner wheel, could you move the wing nuts to the inside of the frame?
Great video, I'm going to pick mine up in the morning. Hopefully it works out as good as yours seems to have 👍👍
Another Washingtonian. Very informative and helpful video. Don’t listen to the haters or change anything. I’m subscribing to your channel now..

I looked at another video of the black widow. The welds looked terrible.

Outstanding video. Thanks.

Will this bike carrier work with an electric bike
Nice job. I learned a lot.
Thanks
Very thorough. Thank you.

None in stock near me, was gonna modify it for my ebike
And voila...in just 40 minutes you have your dirtbike on the carrier.
Shouldn't you remove that center pin where your rear tire sits so it can sit down in there like the front does?
Wondering the same thing
Great video. Would you recommend the straps that you used? I cannot see where you said what these are. Can you tell us which straps you are using? Go DAWGS!

Dude did spider man help you with all those straps lol. So much time to load and unload do you get a chance to ride?
Will this carrier carry a motor scooter?
Does this bike carrier block the back up camera on the van causing it not to work?
Good vid skosh
Did not see you pull a pin for the rear wheel to lock it in once the bike is in place once the rear wheel also get's a rod through the spokes.
Stow the ramp in the van and saw off the useless foot or so of ramp storage.
Having the same carrier on a wrangler I agree. Shorter length off the back is much better in the woods.
How many inches wide are the tires? Thank you
So I’m one of those people whose rim is too tall .. :( ant recommendations or solution to this. I just bought it and realize I can’t get that pin through for extra security :/ super bummed out
I bought an Lectric XP2 walk through electric bike. Would this carrier work for my bike?
Lectric has a 48" wheelbase and presents a real problem, as the slots for wheels need about 50" min. wheelbase.
Watching this video as I just got one and the directions are lacking. Mine arrived in about the same state from FedEx. So far only minor damage.
Edit: it’s damaged. Gonna have to take it back. Ugh
Will this fit my mini size bike
What size bolt did you use to secure the carrier to the receiver?
I've had one for over a year now, I use the standard hitch pin that's normally used with receivers of this type. It's still quite loose though.
CAN you please tell me. From where did you learn blender(video editing). please please 🥺🥺
idk
My car only takes a 1.25” receiver. If I use an adapter to get to a 2” receiver, do you think that would be okay? My bike weighs less than 100#. Thanks for a great, detailed video.
Talking way to fast. Good video however.
Skosh
Shouldn't compress your shock like that.
about 30 mins to long....had to stop watching....
