This is the first tutorial I watched and made me want to learn how to sew and quilt. 2 years later I am on my second sewing machine and working on a tee-shirt quilt! Thank you for inspiring me to try a new hobby! I love love love all your tutorials and tried most of them.
I made this after watching your instructions and received lots of comments. I actually am so proud of the runner that I could not be subtle about the praise and say 'oh it was nothing..' Thank you so much, you are my quilting guru and I need my daily fix from you. Thanks again so much. I really appreciate the tutorials.
Hi, Jenny. This tutorial is fabulous! Now that all the Christmas gifts have been opened, I can finally post here to tell you about the runners I made for my sister and daughter. I also used insulated batting to make each of them two large (9” x 9”) 4-square hot pads to match. I made the runners the same size as you did for this tutorial. I used the Holiday Elegance layer cake and used a black w/gold glitter fabric between the tree trunks. I embellished the plain fabric trees with tiny metallic rick rack and Dress It Up holiday buttons (by Jesse James) to personalize each runner. Everything turned out perfectly thanks to this great tutorial and great fabrics. I even had a few whole pieces left over to put in my stash! Thanks for being part of my homemade Christmas.
I love all your quilt tutorials. I have made 6 quilts from your tutorials and have learned so much. I started out as a beginner and now I am not afraid to tackle anything. Thank you so much Jenny Doan.
Hi Jenny I made a couple of these for Christmas this year. I am fairly new to the quilting world and I have yet to master binding or mitered corners. So, after I put the table runners together, I went and found the 10 minute table runner video (from another site here on you tube) and made tree table runner as the center portion. Made beautiful table runners! Thanks for doing your tutorials. I learn so much from them.
Thank you so much 😊 Jenny you are the best‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️love that runner. I'm going to help my granddaughter make one, but it'll be a very simple one that has a patterned back, so she can use it throughout the year.
Hi Jenny, I just love your tutorials & have just made the half hexagon table runner, not to mention the quilts & now about to make the table runner using the large wedge tool. With Christmas around the corner I'm busy preparing gifts for my friends. Thanks a million - your number one fan !!! :-)
this was so awesome , I made 2 for christmas , 1 for myself and 1 for my daughter, i loved it, tyvm for posting this free pattern to go by . you did a great Job Jenny with details, tyvm for all your great help.
That is beautiful Jenny. I hope you will show us how to make a casserole tote carrier in the New Year. Just love your quilting projects. I have made 4 projects from your tutorials. Maggie
Really love this table runner and am so amazed with your quilting and teaching skills. Please tell me -- what other ideas do you have for using that template?
I would appreciate a list of materials - yardage & number of pieces needed to make your quilts. We don't always have access to layer cakes and precut fabrics.
Made the runner. Love it. Was a fun project. Also. Thank you for the information on the quilt behind you. ( we really do know you aren't Super-woman and can't do tutorials on everything. Well, Maybe close to Super-woman. Lol)
great project might try for last minute gift, do you think you could show how to quilt with a standard sewing machine, I would love to get one of the long arm quilters. thanks for all your hard work.
How did you complete the border and machine quilting? And what fabric packs were used for the snow sparkle quilt behind you? It's gorgeous! Another great tutorial, thanks!
im making a spiderweb quilt using the wacky template, i like how it is easy, but i was having a problem. i first thought they were strecthing, but long story short, they were some blocks that just was longer than others!! So i finally figured it out! the triangle papers were not cut the same size. Some was bigger or smaller than the others. so u might remember that if u use the papers. i had to redo most of them, & cut the larger ones down.. hope this might help u
Love the table runner but am also interested in the Snowflake quilt behind Jenny. Is it a printed fabric ? Would like the fabric and the instructions for the "Irish Chain? quilt. Thank you!
Will you being doing a tut on the new rave od 60 degree triangle table runners? I see all these done in my quilting groups but hard to find a tut. I found one but there is a triangle template , I don't have one though Jenny might come up with a fab way to a short cut with a straight ruler or something . it creates almost like a celtic design
I cheated and did the tree trunks as appliqués. I'm not great at consistent seam allowances and I was afraid that I would fit up all of those little 6" pieces and have too much error. Then I used gold thread to affix the tree trunk and it turned out beautifully.
OK -- just found this video, and the table runner is so cute, I tried it. I used the triangle tool (which I bought before I started) to cut the trees from material I already had. I followed the measurement and seam allowance instructions for the trunks and the muslin. BUT....the trunks don't line up! I got frustrated and am taking a break. I can sort of get them to line up and look OK (but not great) if I gather and fold the muslin piece that's in the middle . The only solution I can think of is is to sew that muslin together, so that the trunks (sort of) line up. Any other ideas?
cute runner, but how did she make the quilt sandwich. do you sew it right side together or just sandwich the back. if you sew right sides together to avoid raw seams what side do you put the batting on. I don't know if I"m making sence. I want to make a quilted table runner with no need for binding. just no sure if my feed dogs are gonna snag on the batting.
Just received my 10" Rhombus Ruler -- My question is: the 10" is for 5 inch strips --- so what size strips would the 5 inch ruler require? I thought by getting the 10" Ruler I would use 10" squares as I really wanted a large Rhombus, guess I was wrong.
MSQC people - help. What kind of filler did you use. I have six of these ready to go for gifts. Love all the tutorials. I have so many projects in mind ready to go. Thanks again and Merry Christmas.
Jenny is my modern version of Bob Ross. She's uber talented, a natural teacher and her videos are incredibly inspiring and relaxing.

Love the table runner.. but want to make the snowflake quilt on the wall behind you? where to find fabric/pattern?

I would appreciate a list of materials - yardage & number of pieces needed to make your quilts. We don't always have access to layer cakes and precut fabrics.

I found I had to make the background fabric between the trunks 6 1/4 or they'd be too wide and the trunks wouldn't center on the trees.
What is in the middle for batting? How did you quilt the runner?
I cheated and did the tree trunks as appliqués. I'm not great at consistent seam allowances and I was afraid that I would fit up all of those little 6" pieces and have too much error. Then I used gold thread to affix the tree trunk and it turned out beautifully.
I don't have a wedge ruler can I incorpate a 12" 60 degree ruler? Or can you tell me the size of the wedge so I can make a cardboard template. thanks
I'm a new quilter and I am sure I can do the top.... But what about the back?? how do you finish it??
OK -- just found this video, and the table runner is so cute, I tried it. I used the triangle tool (which I bought before I started) to cut the trees from material I already had. I love this runner and would like to make it for Christmas gifts. Do you know when you'll have the large wedge ruler back in stock?
cute runner, but how did she make the quilt sandwich. do you sew it right side together or just sandwich the back. if you sew right sides together to avoid raw seams what side do you put the batting on. What quilt is on the wall? Would love to make it.
Could this pattern also be used to make placemats?? The pattern looks so easy.. Did you also use 2 and 1/2 inch binding??
Make a Christmas Table Runner "Using the Half Hexie Ruler",Cain I get the download for the center star?
Just received my 10" Rhombus Ruler -- My question is: the 10" is for 5 inch strips --- so what size strips would the 5 inch ruler require? I thought by getting the 10" Ruler I would use 10" squares as I really wanted a large Rhombus, guess I was wrong.
Hi Jenny,
Love the table runner. I was wondering if you have any tutorials for a round table runner or cloth.I to love the piece behind you TY...
Hi Jenny. When will you be getting stock in of the large wedge ruler?
Shirley
I don't have the ruler Jennie. Can you please tell me the measurements of the triangles?
MSQC people - help. What kind of filler did you use. I have six of these ready to go for gifts. Love all the tutorials. I have so many projects in mind ready to go. Thanks again and Merry Christmas.
I made a template 5 inches wide 9 3x4 tall but it is really skinny compared to yours-could not buyone in my hometown
Deborah Hodges
You need to order from Missouri Star. The wedge is one of their templates!!
The template measures 7 9/16ths wide and 9 1/8th tall
Do have a video how to make a film strip quilt? Thanks
Can you still make this without the wedge ruler?
Замечательный урок! Большое спасибо!
I like the quilt behind you better
