SU arrangements are off the charts. SU sounds much fuller. Bones compliments the baritones compliments the E flats. Flutes compliments the clarinets compliments the sax. New tubas gives much improved depth. And them Screaming Demons…the trumpets with a balanced three part harmony. PV playing whole notes. Eh! Hey O baabe!
These young cats in Baton Rouge, LA are moving from the "cranking business" to the "healing emotional wounds" business. The Jukebox continue to evolve but I keep telling my friends ... it's the ARRANGEMENTS (see 2nd song Don't Disturb this Groove". These brothers can flat out write and I'm going way back to the days of Roy Johnson/Eric Baskin of the mid to late 80's. To me based on musicianship, articulation, arrangement dynamics ... SU with the dubya.

I am from The H and always loved when these two duke it out..... SU has always been the standard, and as always they where impressive. PV showed up but the composition and cohesion could have been better on some songs. SU just sounds like they been playing together for decades and they played all their music with perfection. PV was so anxious for the win that some of the members got off track on some songs. PV need to work on that cohesiveness and composition. PV is still the best band hands down in Texas, and in the top five of the best bands out there. Salute to both of these bands. I was at the game and really enjoyed myself despite the devastating loss to SU SMH........
Nice battle. I will admit that SU was the better band. However PV has absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. It wasn’t as murderous as most are saying it was. Both bands displayed musical prowess. Before the 5th, both bands were missing pitches, more SU’s euphos than anyone else though.
SU clarity and arrangements are second 2 none. When SU played Dont Disturb This Groove by the System, that's shit blow me away. I can lie though, that out on a limb by PV, was nice. SU 4 the win

Someone biting hard....... Stop looking back in the days you marched and be ORIGINAL Bro!!! I guess the S slogan can be used by me now..... OFTEN IMITATED BUT NEVER EVER DUPLICATED!!! Get yo own style bro!!! You Almost cut the song where I ended.... your originality shows only at the drum break and the chorded ending which is...... Blah!!! Too many mistakes and execution issues on pv end... missed pitches... folks coming in when they’re not suppose too.. just because southern sits across from you doesn’t mean you take yourself out of what you do best. Good bounce back su... but this was just a squeak by pv who can go with anybody in the swac.
It wasnt that pv was just as bad this could have been a easily matched battle if PV was Clean but you gotta give credit where its due nice comeback SU with the win.

Everybody saying PV don't have no volume is crazy!! I was on the 50 and i can tell you they have plenty of volume. The difference you hear on these videos is the arrangements SU have.
O Walter Washington, it also help that PV is always pointed towards the camera. But you are also correct in the fact there is a huge difference in the arrangements not all of which has to do with volume, the color and embellishments are on another level. All of PV arrangements sounded basic in comparison.

Dee M PV was trying to beat su at their own game but it didn't work out for them. PV arrangements were no match and they made too many mistakes trying to blow with power. Good effort PV but I've heard better from you. You will never out blow su and stay completely in tune.

Its odd that SU T-Bones kind of carry this years band and of course the trumpets. It use to be trumpets and baritone which ended up being euphonium and Trumpets in 2014. Last year it was trumpets and Melos The Juke always have a solid trumpet section its just part of their History Not to take anything from this years euphonium section because they're no slouch but obviously the Melo's are finally the weakest part of the brass section I really need to know why they went back to only 4 bass drums its really not cutting it for me i can barely hear them in some arrangements with that being said the Juke will always be one of the top 2 bands
Pv got a lil over excited cause they were playing the juke and it caused a lot of they strong musicians to over carry each section with out of pitchness and coming in too early. I have to say SU got this one but I’ve always liked pv every since i marched against them! AEA to the good brothers of Kappa Kappa Psi Free Zeta Nu All Hail Iota Beta !!!
PV and Alcorn have same problem, a lot of skating in every section. PV should be more powerful and definitely more volume with that brass. PV scuffle through a couple of selections. SU with the W but not by much.
earnest roper PV is basically what Alcorn was last year. This year’s version on Alcorn is way better & have much more power since they trimmed down and got rid of the horn holders.
Both Bands just shone on this competition. Would have liked a closer shots of the Girls, but honestly would be hard to choose which was best. Just sat back and enjoyed the entertainment. Two thumbs up cause that's all I got.

Looks like SU finally woke up!!! A much better song selection this time around. I can't put my finger on it but something still seems a little off with them. They took the zero and fifth though. I wouldn't call it murder. PV was good but the arrangements were their worse enemy. Out on a limb was beautiful but everything else was lukewarm.
