Red Óg Murphy R.I.P.

- Sligo Gaelic football star Red Óg Murphy sadly passed away on Friday 1 April 2022, aged only 21.
Red Óg spent eight months with North Melbourne in the AFL after joining them for the 2019 season. Having signed a two year contract, he would return to Ireland after eight months returning to Sligo GAA staring for the Yeats County while studying teaching at DCU.
Here Red Óg is interviewed on Monday 4 March 2019 early on in his AFL time.
He played 12 VFL games in his time with the AFL club.
North Melbourne wore black armbands in Red Óg's honour in their match the day after the sad news broke.

I always got the impression when he was in Australia that he missed home too much and regretted moving out - there was always a type of sadness surrounding him even though he always had this bright beaming smile on him. He seems 100% genuine and sound guy, I was very very sad to hear of his passing at such a young age. Does anyone know how he died? It sounds like he passed away in his sleep, was it a cardiac arrest or something like what Eriksen had on the pitch. Either way may he rest in peace and may his family and friends eventually find peace and comfort in his memory, as they deserve

@@paulfitzpatrick1334not too sure, heard some rumours tho. Apparently in the funeral, the priest was saying that young people need to talk to others if they're feeling down. That with all the rumours, I think it's pretty likely. It's awful and I hope it isn't true
@@idontkjaer9747 Jesus I'm so sad to hear that, the guy seemed to have it all. Let's hope it's not true and if it is I hope his family and friends find the strength to get through this. That is just terrible
