    Think we can all agree that when the SAS are on a ambush, there's not going to be much left of you to bury.

    Sorry but if it was the other way around, the IRA never gave their victims a chance in survival or surrendering . Including innocent women children. You live by the sword well you die by the sword.

    We had the same shoot to kill policy as the IRA had when it came to them killing our soldiers, they didn't like it when we started using their tactics on them

    • @friotaiocht101

      It was PIRA propaganda... through & through... shoot to kill was obviously used by the PIRA for recruitment... any volunteers who joined the Provo's were well aware of all the consequences involved... prison or death... there's no secret or story to be told here...

      If the Ira were terrorists because of their shoot to kill policy, would that not make British forces the same ?

      @@caolanlee1992 I said that the PIRA used shoot to kill as propaganda for recruitment & it worked point i made was that all Volunteers who became members of the Provo's knew & were fully aware of their fate as a result of joining prison or death so how could they legitimately make a shoot to kill claim my comment was removed...

    If memory serves me well, the SAS ambush came about because the IRA had a tout in its ranks who passed on information regarding the car and occupants. The bodies of the three were identified by dental records due to being burnt down to the bone.

    Leaders of both the main faiths calling for restraint and more violence was not the solution. Paisley on the other hand, war, war, war. He may have had his road to Damascus moment towards the end of his political career, not wanting his legacy to be that of agitation and hatred, but he was responsible for a lot of the deaths throughout the troubles with his rhetoric.

    If the IRA men were shot dead in the Cavalier as it drove into the village and crashed and burned then how did the balaclava end up in the middle of the road?
    Obviously one of the men got out of the car and legged it then the SAS shot him dead and dragged his body back to the burning car.
    Total cover up!

      The balaclava is way beyond the path that the Cavalier took if we are to believe that.

      @Stargreened 10 месяцев назад +3

      @starryian007 so when you say they knew they were spotted. That’s very doubtful. The SAS or SBS who ambushed them are not going to let themselves be spotted before firing are they?

      The UK is supossed to uphold the rule of law, the IRA unit had been under surveillance for some time, they could have been aprehended without bloodshed in the days leading up to the ambush. To be fair to the SAS they could only deal with the problem in front of them, and a court found as much but the senior security services knew, Thatcher wanted an example.
