My car (Toyota Hilux) costs me about £13,000 per year to pay for payments, fuel, servicing, insurance. Thats averaging around 20,000 miles per year. Food bills cost about £3000 per year for 2 people. A TV costs us £600 per year. Phone bills £600 per year per person. Hobbies such as a mountain bike will cost around £3000. Before youve even bought a house or paid rent your yearly salary is almost gone. The UK has one of the highest costs of living and poor salaries and 50% tax.
Thanks for your comment. It depends on the area you live in also. Where we live which is Derby it is very affordable to live where you can get a 2 bed house for £650 maximum either rent or mortgage. People can save a lot depending on their lifestyle and where they live. If both people in a household are working and earning more than 30k then it's very easily manageable. For instance someone can buy a car for £6000 with a one off payment. Food bills vary from household to household. A TV is something you don't buy every year. People can save a lot on phone bills if they get cheaper deals. And also you need to spend your money wisely. If you save even a small amount of money and invest somewhere in like the stock market then you can earn well out of that too. It mostly depends on the person and their lifestyles... And also the 50% tax number you have mentioned is completely wrong. It should be 20% if you are earning upto 40k. Upto £12700 you do not have to pay tax.
@@SLCoupleinUK The TV price was for tv channels such as BT/sky not purchasing it. I earn over 50k which means that everything else I earn I am taxed about 50%. Plus 20% VAT on everything I buy. I live in a town where the average house price is £380,000. I dont know how anybody affords to live here. Fortunately my girlfriend and I have good salaries but i feel really sorry for those who earn less. We will never have what our parents or grandparents had which is sad

Hi Isuru thanks for your comment and question. You need to be aware that you have to pay for the accommodation and living expenses also. There is a limitation of 20hrs per week to work part time. So you can earn around £800 per month. You would be able to pay a little amount of the rest of the course fee as you will have to pay for accommodation also. It also depends on how busy you will be with your MSc degree.
