there are missing filter on one or two of the HDMI traces unless you fixed them off camera!
Yes I did noticed them after the repair. Done.
@@NorthridgeFix awesome!
@@NorthridgeFix you are da man.. Alex. :)
I saw that as well
Hdmi can work without the ESD Diode.
Always nice to see videos like this.
Soldering is art (and skill) and not everyone can do it.
For the last week and a half people have been coming up to me at work asking if I could patch stuff they "screw up"....missing pads going somewhere on smd ic's, tiny smd (0201) resistors knocked out of place or sucked up while desoldering, that kind of stuff.
Today I had another one where I had to patch over a trace to a leg on an ic because a pad was ripped off when clearing it from leftover solder.
To see the joy of new co-workers when you fix it, is a big plus in my book!
Keep up the good work and inspirational (and informative) videos like these!!
Thank you for your videos. You make this look so easy... people really take for granted how small this stuff is. I did my first HDMI repair 8 missing pads on an xbox one s after getting the courage from watching your videos. I was successful on my second try. Probaby need a better microscope than the $30 amazon special I was using if I every want to try this again. Thank you again for your videos an sharing your knowledge with the world.
Alex, every time I think you can't impress me more, you do. Fine repair job. I think you could fix just about anything at this point. How you reran those traces and made it look so good (and so easy)...fantastic job! Thanks for sharing these videos.
If you wanna see some soldering skills watch jyostana mobile xare
Think I would have practiced on something else first. Anyway I have an order arriving Friday and I can't help myself to buying more to support Alex, Big Boss, and family. Cali is a bit far to visit but I really learn so much. Thanks Again luv u guys
Very nice repair. Thats the first time I've seen anybody soldermask both sides of a repair trace. I really liked that. It's the little details that make you that much better of a repair tech.
10 out of 10 Alex! Your solder masking job was perfect. You do a fantastic job when rebuilding traces.
I would like to thank you.. Because of your videos I was able to repair my daughter wireless doorbell ringer ... Thanks again.
I've been waiting for ur videos to upload, was eagerly waiting to watch 😁
Wow always amazing to see a chef at work! Great video & repair Alex
Most enjoy brings me videos like this one 😊 When someone messed up with repair and Alex still managed to get get better than factory job😁
Awsome job my friend.
really lovely repair job there sir!
Amazing recovery job Alex!!
I try to find the right person when something needs to be fixed. If that person is the right person, he says he can't fix it, even if he tries to fix it, I know it won't make his current situation worse. If you have your device repaired in a random place, the current situation may be even worse. This time even the right person has a hard time fixing it. I see that the devices you receive are tampered with by incompetent people, and I feel sad. Please, everyone, do a good search for the right place to give a product for repair. Good luck and thanks for sharing your experience .
good job alex you are like a doctor so ipressive worke ;) keep up this good work . love you bro from algeria :)
One time I ran out of solder so I had to melt out some solder from used wicks
It actually works pretty well.
that man really is a legend perfect job
Another successful surgery , V V ♥ you
love your work sir
Very nice job. I love your work so much. Perefection like art. Thank you for that video. Greets
The way the connector just fell into place was just amazing. Not knocking anyones work but i see someone trying to solder one of those connectors on the other day without damaged pads and they had real trouble doing it and took around 4 attempts,Alex does it just like that you can see how professional he is and its amazing to watch.
This reminds me of machinists I know who do work removing broken screws, sometimes with broken off screw removal tools stuck in there too. "If you'd just brought it to me to begin with, it would be much easier to fix!"
As a machinist, can confirm this statement. It drives me insane when they try to stick things down in there, worst I ever saw was PIG Epoxy Putty. He thought it would "adhere to the screw and he could stick a screw driver in the putty and turn it out." Took me HOURS to drill and re-tap the hole. The most common is broken taps and they snap the arms on tap extractors. They CRANK on them instead of working it back and forth to break the chips holding the broken tap in and now I have to find a way to get BOTH out. Drives me insane.
Great job as always, i hope that you make a special repairs.. like big boards repairs or screen led tv repairs that will be Great also 👍enjoying watching your videos bro.
Hi Alex, huge fan of the repairs. Is there a reason why you don't use solder paste?
I've tried to use solder paste before and I honestly find it a little pesky. It's great if you're using a paste stencil on a new board, but if you're trying to apply it by hand to small pads it's easy to get too much. You also can't easily move it around once you've put it on the board--if you break up the blob of solder paste you now have loose solder that could hide under your components.
Only for reball
'Right! and we're done from the back'... Yep! My joint dropped from my lip, hearing those words... ;)
good job mate.
Excellent job Alex…..
Vampire wick, hmm. I'd call it the Wick Cuper 5000, you get the idea lol.

Great Video buddy. I maybe want to order the best hot air station. Can you maybe make a video about it and also mention how you use it? For example temperature and Airflow when reflowing a HDMI connector or a fpc connector or something else for example
like the longer vids !
Nice work, I take it this job took about 30 minutes with the footage sped up?
Have you noticed any signal degradation utilizing fixes like these on the diff pairs? I wouldn't suspect too much of an impact - but being impedance controlled pairs, I was just curious.
Hdmi has more wiggle room for impedance and length unlike MIPI DSI or Displayport which require very strict control of impedance /length matching. It wont be problem in full hd. maybe there could be distortions when run at 4k
@@balajinarasimhan5346 I figured there was more room with HDMI, but wasn't positive. Thanks!
A very good job like always. احسنت العمل
I love you, great job

I'm not gonna keep saying solid for all of them...
Says "Solid" 16 more times 🤣🧙♂️
Awesome work as always Alex, love learning from watching your videos!
We did it!
Vampire wick always perfect for the job
Count Duckula wick.
Very good explain thanku
Alex art in motion.
الله يسهل امرك 😇
Great job 👍
Wondering if youv ever tried that silver conductive PCB glue from Ali for doing these trace repairs?
As always amazing work on these device's
Isn't it better to use adhesive copper tape????
A hellava man, doing a hellava job!
I'm still kind of curious why the hell these HDMI ports are getting so messed up in the first place? Are people doing the USB thing where it doesn't go in and they just try to jam it in there as hard as they can until it breaks? You need a fair bit of force to cause this damage. I just don't get it. Or could it be the consoles falling off a shelf and bashing the port in? (while the cable is plugged in)
Impact damaging them mostly
Was wondering if you be kind and explain the difference between
Flux and Rosin.
For poor souls that don't know.😅
Gday out of interest why didn't you use the pad strip anyway and use the wire to bridge it where the pad strip was too short to reach?
Nice job, Alex. Is there any advantage to using masking material under the new pads in an attempt to stabilize them more?
No because then the UV wouldn't cure it and it would still be mobile
i was waiting for the big boss to resemble and test :(
Those ripped pads are painful to watch..
I don't understand what people do with these HDMI ports on consoles to end up in this condition...
I think they think it is a pet and they use they HDMI cable plugged to the port to walk them around the neighbourhood :)
great video alex ..now you are a arts and craft teacher and maybe a maths teacher haha ..joe uk
Always wondered about track repair and impedance matching. ....all those extra squiggle in the original PCB traces must have been there for a reason( impedance matching?)
Alex what do you use to clean the tips of your soldering iron and to re-tin them?
Could you not fill those pad holes with conductive epoxy? Then apply one of them copper pad thingies over the top to give you a soldering point?
why people always ripped their hdmi port? How do you put your hdmi cable
It's the quicker wicker picker upper!
Do you know if spare bits are available for the grinding pen? I'm sure the ones it came with will last a while but it would be a shame to have them wear out or be damaged at some point and not be able to replace them.
Its available from the manufacturer, have bought them for 3,5$ per package.
@@limebulls thanks! Where can I find them if you don't mind telling me?
Awesome ✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻
This wick makes a great job eliminating all that soldering. It should be called... John Wick !!! :)
Cant' imagine how these ports get ripped off??
Stupid question because I don’t know how these things work, but will this Xbox be able to display 4K 120Hz after this repair?
I’m just amazed how you’re able to fix something that looks unrepairable to me.
The connector has nothing to do with refresh rate. It's the hardware. The connector is nothing but a piece of metal that connects pins to pads.
@@NorthridgeFix Oh!!! Thank you for informing me. I didn’t know that’s how it worked. I love you videos man. If I ever need something fixed you’ll definitely be my number one choice.
Hi Alex, do you find the need to use an ultrasonic cleaner or do you just use brush and alcohol to clean the board after the repair?
IMHO, ultrasonic not needed when repair only involves tiny portion of PCB such as a connector. Might be a bit different if a PCB is water damaged or full of dirt / dust or something.
“Not the joints that you smoke!” 😂🤣😂
Great..!!..thanks
I smoke two joints in the morning,
I smoke two joints at night,
I smoke two joints in the afternoon,
It makes me feel all right.
I wonder what that piece of pineapple you cut away was for? :D
I come for the scientists of the comment section; I stay for the outstanding repair jobs. Good work!
Hello, I have a HP Envy 17" 17-J013cl i7 16gb that shows a blue screen and doesn't boot up when I install a second HDD. I have taken it to Geek Squad and various places with no type of luck. They have done a BIOS upgrade, MB upgrade and reprogramming with no luck. What do you think could cause the issue? Thank you.
100 views in 3 minutes, awesome 💯
13:00 I'm in stitches 😆🤣😂
Hi brother ! What is smd size you usually replace in the laptops ? Greetings from Lisbon Portugal !
In my experience, gotta be ready for caps and resistors 0204 and larger, and some filters as small as 01005.
I have a Asus ROG phone 2 that was working fine but then no power is getting to it (the battery is accepting charge)
good job
Was it fixed in the end?
Amazing work. They should be more careful! 🤣
May of been less damage using a pair of pliers like ewaste ben.
mad skills
Came in for repair
Nice 👍🏾
in my years of owning a console. never did i damage the hdmi ports nor the usb ports. how come these people damage these. im curious
I suspect they fall off shelves and moved around with CABLES STILL ATTACHED. Maybe cable to short and user decide to tug harder on console to get extra 25mm, and SNAP 💥😥.
Joint reveal at 420k subs?
Let us know if the wick starts writing diaries. (reference to The Vampire Diaries)
HOW MUCH CUSTOMER CHARGE?
nice Vedio ☮️👍
i dont understand how people treat theirs, that ends up broke mostly hdmi port
What a joint!
That wick sucks like the last guys soldering.
"Not the join that you smoke" KEKW
Lmao Let's Take Look At Those Joints! Not The Joints U Smoke Lmao 🤣🤣 Had Me Crying 😂
I call mine John wick. It's the one you call to get rid of the lesser ones.
'It sucks like a vampire' ... epic :)
How many hands do you have?:)))
I just hate when the customer lies... What did he expected? You not to see that there are 5 missing pads instead of 2?
They probably think that if they tell the truth then the shop might reject the job from the get-go... But it's just annoying...
@@EDOD_EseDelOtroDia I think you're right. Repairing pads can be time consuming and not worth the extra money. So the customer may have 'accidentally' miscounted so he could get it fixed. ;)
How much for this fix??
I gotta get me some of those wicks.
I can't imagine how people can destroy hdmi ports in such a way
Same, that's what i've been wondering with all these hdmi repairs.
kids destroy anything
John Wick did his job again

Great work
