  • Building Simple Frameless Kitchen Cabinets with Pocket Screws - "Euro Style" I'm back in the shop of BNG Dayton between cabin trips I use some down time to build some kitchen base cabinets. It took 8 hours of labor and cost $300 in materials so far. This is really a pretty easy project that you can DIY if you have the right tools. I'm still trying to decide what kind of doors and drawer faces to make. See these cabinets installed in the off grid cabin here: • Setting up our Cabin K...
    Plywood $ 150
    Drawer hardware $100 (slides)
    Hinges $25

38 years ago I made an 8 foot tall full wall Birch veneer cabinet unit with shelves and doors, stereo cabinet and fish tank section. I used the tape for the edges. But I never really liked the outcome. I switched on other projects to very thin finish strips of maple, glued, nailed and puttied. I was quite pleased with this change. A great video! Thanks so much. Beautiful work.

I just love all your videos! Wish you lived near me, my son framed a 3 bedroom house up 23 years ago, 2/6 studding oak. I'm 77 years old and decided in Feb. to finish it and move into it. What a job! I have had to manually hammer it all and had to pre drill some, dang that 23 yr old oak is hard! LOL My only help has been a 9 year old great granddaughter, we have the downstairs almost finished, I even ran all the wiring, but haven't hooked them up yet. Blessings from TN

I've used the hotglue banding for a few projects. Wound up buying the wife a new iron :D
I recomend putting the banding on up front. In fact I will put the banding on before assembly and final tablesaw cut for width. Thus the thickness of the banding will not change the finished dimensions. As well, you can use a random orbit sander to make the edges of the banding blend in perfectly.

If you precoat the board with white Elmer's glue lightly let it dry then the bond is stronger . Worked in factory that used alot of edgeband . If it gets damaged and you need to replace it just heat it with the iron and use a putty knife to get under and peal it off for easy replacement . Elmer's glue is heat activated after dry and water based for easy cleaning . Have fun I loved the job . "Deeds not words"

Watching you drop in the trimmer bit in the router, it didn't show if you lifted it back up a couple millimetres after it started pinching it... this is VERY important ... 🤔
Nice job... over here ,( in Ireland) we'd just buy sheets of melamine covered chipboard (particleboard ? ) of the correct width & its already edged .... cuts down (🙄😂) on a LOT of rip-cutting too ... its available in widths to do the uppers too, saves a lotta time. My favourite upper hanging method is french cleat... 🤗

Thank you hennjj. I got my slides from the hardware section at Home Depot. I’m not sure offhand what brand but I think my local store only had 2 brand in stock and two different types. I think I got ones for frameless cabinets. I would strongly suggest a nice book from your local library for a more in depth look. I think it’s even better than RUclips for this. For a channel I really like Mike Farrington he’s not afraid to build things in a practical way. He does have a lot of specialty tools that we won’t have. But there is always a workaround.
