We have the Jayco Journey Outback 21’6 exact same layout of the Silverline you are reviewing. We love the slide out bedroom it’s the best! 👍👍This is our third Jayco van in approx 13 years of caravanning and we bought the JJOB new and the previous two second hand and they were very well looked after. Good value for money 💰 👍

I’m sure it’d be fine as long as you never take it off the black top
Unfortunately the Auckland Jaco dealer over here has destroyed any expectation of after sales service
I’m with your Mrs cross it off your lis, it’s not in the league of some of the other vans you have tested
I didn’t even go and look at their stand at he the Brisbane show when I was there
    👎👎👎

I saw a 2020 or thereabouts, Silverline when we were staying near the Grampions, Vic.
We have a Discovery Outback 2009..love it.
We stayed in a private caravan park, off grid down there.
A 4klm dirt road to get to it, corrigated and rough.
We spoke to the Silverline owner later, as he was parked up nearby, he had owned it for about 2yrs, loved it.
It hanled the dirt rd and conditions just fine, (getting to the park).
I think your on the right track myself, Jayco.

Thanks for your comments and the info. The van is impressive but not sure about the kind of off roading we like - the beach for instance.... more challenging locations - the should make the Silverline in a fully off road version for sure. Departure angles and the lack of underbody protection are a concern. All fixable no doubt - I just love the additional room a slide out provides.

Enjoying your videos but the Silverline is frumpy and the internals reminded me of a Jayco Conquest Motorhome we hired couple of years back. We took it to Uluru and the West McDonalds sadly even on bitumen and minor dirt things rattled and became loose. Loved your Zone escapades, we have been researching them for 2 years and have just placed an order on a 19' Zone Peregrine.

I’ve had my 2014 Jayco StarCraft outback for about six years. Have yet to have a problem even though it gets used a lot. Just remember to ALWAYS check those lock buttons on the cupboards and drawers before you drive off. I changed mine to latches that catch every time so there’s no surprise. Everything ever built has the potential for problems. Great review 😊😊

hi guys, great videos. I recently decided to buy a 2022 Jayco Expanda. It had 2 AGM batteries and 2x180w solar panels. I swapped out the ABMs for Lithium (Jayco system allows that). In a storage area I've installed a Bluetti Solar generator expanded by 2 extra Bluetti batteries. 6kw 72kg and 240v for days and days. I can easily remove these if I want. The Expanda now also carries 4x200w solar blankets that charge the Bluetti...another 18kg.The 2 power systems are only connected through the 240v feed of the Expanda. Cost about $8k all up, it works a treat and I have redundancy for the prolonged off road trips. We went the Expanda for weight and massive floor area with a double/queen bed at each end. On long trips it is important to have your own space to mentally stay well. The 10 minutes setting it up or backing it up is a small price to pay to have a 17.5' van that is longer than a 23' tall van. I'm not a huge fan of the wood veneer in the Jaycos but it's ok, it works well enough. Must stop my jibber, thought you would be interested in this power option. Stay well and travel safe.

    • @caravansbythecampfire
      @caravansbythecampfire  7 месяцев назад

Typically all big vans have a queen size bed, they have a bolster that allows you to insert it at the head of the bed, you extend the bed out from the bottom and it turns into king size length or longer.

If it wasn't for the outdated interior colours, I would almost consider buying one. That and the outrageous price......come on $100k+ and then extra lithium to run the optional inverter.....you'd be looking at an easy $115k ( I'm sure Craig has done the numbers ).....no wonder you want to buy my Zone.......airbags, more power, better off road ability, nicer interior......shame you cannot get a Zone for under 135k now, but you get a hell of a lot for that.....

We have a motorhome with a slide out at the back c/w rollout awning. The noise of the flapping awning is evident when the wind reaches around 40kph. Depending on the angle of the awning to the wind direction you can sleep upto around 50kph. My sister/bro have a Silverline, she says you can sleep in the bed with the slide out retracted so no problem on windy nights.
