@@MatthewHynds-ye1jrPercussion does have a lot of instruments, mainly ones that are a lot easier to learn in the beginning. But, that does not mean its instrument are just “easy”. Most percussion instruments take a long time to master, just like wind instruments.
@@AdelaidemccloskeyEasier to make a sound but not at all easy to play a real song on. By real song I don’t mean you subbed in on a concert piece I mean etudes and marching shows.
@madip.d9472 I look back at my old music and say I used to find this the hardest music in the whole world. Now, Im like quarter notes boring, low notes boring.(Im a flute player)
Just suggesting, let your students know if they have a phone or anything with a tuner, to tune their intruments before warm ups. It saves time and a good habit!
In 4th and 5th grade we practiced with plastic instruments. In 6th grade we performed with plastic instruments. Then 7th and so on grades we had actual instruments and it helped so much, we sounded amazing and we were already more than half way done with our music book in the first 2 or 3 months of school.
You guys have every single instrument in the band room at once? For me we used to have 3 different rooms. That’s where we all learned how to play our instruments. We were all divided until concert days. But, that only happened in 6th grade. Seventh and eighth have 2 different bands each.
At our school you spend like the first month at learning to care for your instrument, then you learn to play, but our band directors teach us a lot of techniques (there are four of them) so it makes it super easy. And we also sometimes have retired band directors or senior players who have been doing it for a long time. Man am I lucky
Before I went to middle school, I had already taken music lessons for 4 years so I got to skip beginning band and go straight to advanced band. Parts of me loved the experience and the other part missed not being able to hang out with my friends in beginning band
Theyre cooking but bro my 6th grade year did not sound that bad. like this is another level. maybe i just heard myself in the trumpet section but i dont recall ever sounding this bad.
Yeah it doesn’t feel like you sound bad but then you hear the recording of all the instruments trying to fit in and it just sounds bad. I can say this from experience
@@Neridian_ we have under 30 minutes of rehearsal time. I spend about 5 to 10 minutes on long tones and articulation/rhythm each day before moving to any songs.
i have traumatic memories of go tell aunt rhodie from 6th grade band, literally the only song we played for a semester
Me too, but we just played it for about a week 😭
Me too and I got like an 85 on the test
We played that too
Real
bro i AM in 6th grade band rn and we r playing it too
Shout out to the one percussionist! Learning multiple instruments when everyone else only has one.
Percussion is still the easiest instrument
@@MatthewHynds-ye1jr Percussion is not an instrument, rather many. So I think you can’t compare the entire group.

SAME! I remember thinking the warmups I did when I just started were hard, they are really easy to me now.

I already looked into buying an oboe. Even a Temu one costs like $500 bro

Our 1st year in band we were playing Beethoven
at the end of the 4th semester of band it just clicks
That is a good beginning band
Bro I learned hot cross buns my second week of beginning band
I played most of these songs in band
We learned all these songs in the first two weeks of band 💀
If we played like that are band director would throw a chair at us true story
Hot cross buns on in orchestra is so much eaisior then band! (Ik it bc I’ve been in a orchestra and a band)
My band director would crash out if we would sound like that also im in advance
