I have plugged in an old school turn signal relay (mine was a round VW Bug relay) into the 7-pin to flash all of the park lights. Super No-No in a campground, but when your camping buddy is looking for your boondock site after dark, it's a great beacon.
My husband liked your ideas so much that he sent me your link to watch them too. I agree with him and am looking forward to our next trip out for using them. First we'd better get some nice, helpful shelves mounted! Genius solutions, many thanks for sharing them with us all!!
Very useful hacks! I keep my fire stick in the back of the truck and when hooking up, I can measure the ball using the stick for where I need to raise the tongue. Also use a faucet filter like pur or britta. No more carrying filtered water jugs, yay!
These three hacks in less than six minutes may make this the most handy video I’ve watched in the last two years. Kicking myself for not thinking of that tape measure hack. Seems like we’ve been maneuvering around posts and trees and doing our best to guess about clearance much more this year. I’m marking up my tape measure this weekend!
Good tips. I have also learned that if you let the Command strips to sit overnight after you put on the surface they are stronger than using right away.
The one hack that I've done to our TT that REALLY helps me out was installing a two step collapsible ski boat ladder to the rear bumper below the existing roof ladder. The first step on the roof ladder is about four feet off the ground, so it made me have to use a small step stool to climb onto the bumper to be able to access the first rung off the ladder. I ordered the ski boat ladder online, and installed it to the rear bumper. When not in use, it telescopes into itself when inverted and I secure it to the other ladder with velcro tape, that way it won't hang below the bumper. The two additional steps of that ski ladder makes it very easy to get onto the bumper, and then onto the trailer roof ladder. Note: REMOVE your sewer hose before drilling the four bolt holes to mount the ski ladder. I installed the bolts from the inside the bumper so the nuts are on the outside top of the bumper.
These are great! Especially the shelf! I have been wanting a few extra shelves and wasn’t sure how to nail/glue/screw…you made it much easier! Thank you, love your videos!
On previous units I just wired in a switch at the connection box from the power wire to the light wire to turn on the lights then could turn them any time and not have go for a fuse.
Love the command strip shelf tip. This would work great in our boat to make extra space in our cabinets for Nespresso capsules and plastic wine glasses!
Great video! I recently purchased my travel trailer and have put my 3D printer to good use! I printed a toilet paper holder, under-cabinet paper towel holder, towel rack brackets, and over-the-door hanging hooks!
oh nice! I needed to repair my Furrion RV cameras to the monitor and using the fuse hack made it much easier than bringing the truck in range to plug in the trailer cable. Now my cameras are powered along with the running lights and I'm thinking of just leaving this on for the amber glows at the campground. Thanks!
plus you can use the tape measure to measure how level your trailer is on level ground for setting up your WD hitch. Cool idea! Plus I take a tape measure to different places all the time for measuring all kinds of stuff. super useful but I hadnt thought of marking the slide dimensions on the tape.
Our favorite mod was adding a towel warmer to the bathroom in the 5er had to get power from the wall plug to the inside of the cabinet behind the bath wall. It not only dries them it also keeps them warm. 👍🏻☮️✌🏻
Thanks Jared. I saw someone with their Running lights on a few years ago, but couldn't get it to work. Now with your video, I should get it to work. Love the shelve idea!!!
Thank you Jarod for the tips! My wife just yesterday wanted me to put a shelf in our bathroom linen pantry and you solved my dilemma. Again, thank you for the great content 👍
Nice hacks Jared that 7 way light mod I was in one of our local parts stores similar to harbour freight and found this rv plug that snapped on the end of the cord for a couple of bucks works great 👍
I love your idea for the command strips & the shelf, I going to use that one for sure. I also keep a tape measure in the door of my truck to measure if I have enough room for my slides, the only thing that I do differently is when I took my measurements of the slides, I used my label maker & made labels showing the inches I need for clearance and applied the labels on the slide, that way if I lose my tape measure (which I've done more often can I can remember) I don't have to re-measure each slide. Great videos, keep up the good work.
I have been trying to figure out how to add light weight shelves! Brilliant. Other tips in this video were great (fuse to allow you to use backup cameras solves another problem😉) Thank you 💜
Great video. More of these hacks would be awesome! I found out about the fuse/7 pin hack early this year from another camper so I’ve used that one. I just ordered a keychain tape measure for that hack. It’s a great idea. I had a yard stick for our last RV but it was always tucked in the storage and a pain to get out so I rarely used it. The key chain in the truck door is brilliant.
I used command hooks to support wire shelves in the cupboards in my camper. Worked really well until this summer. We experienced a heat wave with record high temperatures here in B.C. All the adhesive pads failed event the ones supporting a few light food items. Had to repair using screws.
Thank you again for taking the time and effort for keeping us safe and organized! As always, quality work. Concerning the fuse hack - I'd like to just say 2 of your 3 reasons merit use. I, with all due respect, am not a fan of the providing extra light around the campsite scenario. Sure, troubleshooting an outage, or using the cams for safety is great - but I believe this other reason has some potential for abuse. I recently visited a campground where just about every toyhauler in the row had this going and it was just visually obnoxious. The worst part - they left them on the entire trip, night and day. Yes, I understand responsible campers vary in opinion. Just not a fan. I have also heard of folks who keep an old turn signal flasher fuse handy, so the lights can blink on nd off - the premise is that an ambulance or public safety unit can locate the trailer much faster in a sea of RVs. Not a "we'll keep the light on" situation mind you... Be safe and Peace.
Instead of the tape measure, I just use my broom that sits on the inside of the door. I have marks on the handle for each slide out. I actually used to do the tape measure thing but, after losing a couple, went with the broom instead. I knew about the jumper for the marker lights but never dawned on me that the camera would work. Thanks for that one!
Loved this video. I have already done the fuse trick and loved it. The rack for hats is something I need and the tape measure idea is stupid simple and always in a quick to reach draw! Thanks
thats funny! I put a tape measure in the door because it was in my hand after I measured the height and since i was in a hurry to leave I just left it there. now i've used it to measure for the new LevelMate Pro ( yes, I love it! ) and I was thinking it would just be handy to have it there...
Love your tape idea. I've been using a teachers pointer for same reason. Small and compact, but this was great idea and can use for other things. Great video.
I wired my rear camera to a lighted switch in my rear ceiling area (near the rear vent opening). I used the same red lighted switch used for the water pump switch. I do want to add a couple of side/front cameras to my Haloview config though.
I like the basic hacks Jared. The shelf one is nice, I never thought about the fuse one but the measuring tape one is not too bad although I have an old broom handle with the marks for each slide.
Great video and cool tips and tricks. One of the better feeds on RVs on RUclips. Keep up the great work. I saw someone else use the fuse trick to turn on the running lights and cameras. I took it a step further, wired two switches to the running lights and added a two plugs for the camera in the bedroom and living room so you could turn on the lights and camera to see what went bump in the night for the wife. 🤣 Love the rack and command strip idea. 👍
my favorite hack so far is we put velcro on the back of our tv remote/roku and fireplace remote and put them next to our recliner. our recliners don't have a storage space....we have forgotten to store them on travel day and no worries they were still stuck.
We did the velcro for all our remotes also. And even on the rough washboard dirt road in mountains of Idaho we have never had one fall off while traveling yet.
For what's it's worth, when I use command strips, I FIRST clean the area with a Mr Clean eraser, and THEN alcohol - works very well on finished surfaces.
And it has stayed up regardless the amount of earthquakes the RV has been through? I found they just don't stay after several months. I will try your idea. Thanks.
I’ve done the shelf thing but never even thought about using the fuse in my 7 pin. Great idea, thanks!! As far as measuring for slides…I don’t have any so……🤣😂 As always, great tips that are concise and to the point.
The measurement can still be useful for things like clearance for the power drill to drop and retract your stab jacks, or how much room you need to pull things like foldy chairs out of the lower storage.
the command strip shelf hack is BRILLIANT !!! . LOVE IT !! thank you!!
Using command hooks for shelf supports is kinda brilliant. Solves a puzzle I’d been noodling...next project! Thanks!!!
Glad it helped
We use the small hooks inside the door to hang our keys and also my ball cap.
I have plugged in an old school turn signal relay (mine was a round VW Bug relay) into the 7-pin to flash all of the park lights. Super No-No in a campground, but when your camping buddy is looking for your boondock site after dark, it's a great beacon.
Clever idea.
You absolutely hit it out of the ballpark with this tip!! OMG I have to try this on my RV and Horse Trailer THanks
My husband liked your ideas so much that he sent me your link to watch them too. I agree with him and am looking forward to our next trip out for using them. First we'd better get some nice, helpful shelves mounted! Genius solutions, many thanks for sharing them with us all!!

That fuse idea is great. I’ve been using a short jumper wire with spade lugs on each end.
Great idea! That way you can test all the lights!👍🏻
I want more #RVhack videos! These were all mew to me. So often, I’m just hearing things over already heard! Great job!
Thank you!
Good tips. I have also learned that if you let the Command strips to sit overnight after you put on the surface they are stronger than using right away.
Good tip!
I used to shove a small pair of needle nose pliers into the 7-pin connector for the lights, a fuse is a great idea.
Man you have an awesome channel! Always great info
Thank you, that means a lot coming from you.
Second that.
Best thing is he will even respond to questions asked in the comments....hint....hint
@@richardkoch8752 right?! We’re talking to you BTBRV. 😀😀😐
Command strips can peel wall paper off and or bubble the wall paper
If you put too much weight on them they can cause an issue with the wall paper but we haven’t had an issue in our RVs.
Genius! Never heard of the 10 amp fuse trick. Thanks for a great tip.
That fuse thing is awesome!
Thanks.

Love the idea of using the back up monitor inside. That is helpful!

That fuse idea is so simple but so useful, thanks.
We loved using peel and stick in our kitchen in our class c
Love the command strip shelf tip. This would work great in our boat to make extra space in our cabinets for Nespresso capsules and plastic wine glasses!

ONe of my Favorite channels! Top 5 for me ! Thanks for all your info!! Happy Trails
This fuse tip has changed my life! Thank you so much!!!
Pack a small level in tool bag... useful for leveling trailer, checking for proper fall of sewer pipe and for other uses too.
Wow… Great ideas 💡, the ten amp fuse and the tape measure, I will definitely use!
Love the fuse hack, never thought of it but it's great
Thanks
The wire shelf is such a great idea with the hooks!!!! Thankyou!!!!
Wow, that's a GREAT tip on the fuse in your plug, thank you for that... that's ooooooober awesome..

I've used sooo many of your hacks either directly or frankenstein-esque over the years.
Great hacks! I especially like the one that you use a fuse in the seven pin connector.
I agree, I've been using a piece of wire though a fuse is a better idea as it adds another layer of safety.
Thanks!
Nice hacks Jared that 7 way light mod I was in one of our local parts stores similar to harbour freight and found this rv plug that snapped on the end of the cord for a couple of bucks works great 👍

3 awesome ideas! I can’t wait to try that fuse thing. Thank you for sharing : )
Always great practical info. The command strip shelving option is brilliant btw. Thanks Jared!!
Thank you David!
I always wondered how some people had their running lights on their rv's at night, thanks for tips!!
Thanks for the ideas. Simple is usually the best!

Love the tape measure idea! Thanks for all your great videos. They are super helpful and practical.
Simple solutions are always the best.
Back into a 5th love thentape measure idea...thanks J.
Glad you liked it.
Great shelf idea now what about the Elf thanks for information my buddy does the fuse hack camera is a plus for that
Good stuff. Like the measuring tape hack!
Thanks

The shelf trick was my favorite
Thanks
Wow! Those are the best hacks I've seen in a long time. Great job!
Thank you.
Great tips!! The shelf thing is perfect. We will be doing this. Take care!
Awesome ideas as always. I will definitely be using the shelf and tape measure ideas. Thanks for sharing...
Thank you
Loved this video. I have already done the fuse trick and loved it. The rack for hats is something I need and the tape measure idea is stupid simple and always in a quick to reach draw! Thanks

Like the tape measure idea.
Love the hat idea and the hats you wear!! Do you have any links for the kind of hats you wear?
The Command hook shelf is one of those duh, why didn't I think of that myself moments. Thanks 👍
Love your tape idea. I've been using a teachers pointer for same reason. Small and compact, but this was great idea and can use for other things. Great video.
Thanks
Good timing! I have a marker light out that I need to replace.
Great tips. I think I'm going to use all three!!
Thanks.
I wired my rear camera to a lighted switch in my rear ceiling area (near the rear vent opening). I used the same red lighted switch used for the water pump switch. I do want to add a couple of side/front cameras to my Haloview config though.
These are some great tips - easy and helpful
“Known to wear hats on occasion”, ha ha! Love your channel.
My attempt at a confession that I have an addiction to hat wearing. It’s the best I can muster. 😉
Excellent suggestions. Thumbs up!👍 thanks
Thanks
These hacks are awesome … thank you 😊
Nice hacks!! Thank you for the video!!
Thanks.
I like the basic hacks Jared. The shelf one is nice, I never thought about the fuse one but the measuring tape one is not too bad although I have an old broom handle with the marks for each slide.
Short and to the point with helpful information. Good job!
Thanks.
Good Morning. Thank You Great Info. Jack
Those were all cool simple ideas. Thanks a lot. I enjoy your videos also.
Love the rack and command strip idea. 👍
What a great idea.
Thanks again for your videos
Jared is AWESOME!!!! Thanks for always giving great info.
That’s too kind, thank you.
We knew and use the fuse idea. Great idea for shelving! Like the tape measure idea too. Although I use "one arm length" for our slides.
Very practical. A little more information on which pins and what amperage fuse on the electrical connection would be nice.
GREAT Tips love your channel
Super useful tips. Thank you
Man what great ideas 💡! On my way out the coach right now!. BTW I keep a bottle of rubbing alcohol in the kit with my eternabond and diclor.
Good thing to keep in hand for that too.
Great vid. Will use 1&2 Already have #3
Great info, I really like the topics you cover and the clear way you explain things.
Thank you.
SMH!! Why didnt I think of that!! Love what you do!! Keep it up!!
thanks.
Thanks! Great ideas
Welcome to the MacGyver channel. Next week 100 uses for duct tape?......keep it up, I'm lovin it!
Thanks, I was planning that next video but I’m stuck at 99 uses 😉

How clever! Thanks
Great ideas! Thanks!
Excellent advice! Thanks.
Thanks.
Great ideas, thanks for sharing
Thank you.
Hated those stick on hooks. Until I tried the alcohol. Thank you.
Great hacks! Which backup camera and monitor do you have?
