Many American-Greeks opt out of using filo by substituting flour tortillas for individual feta-spinach pies. The tortillas are not labor intensive and taste similar to filo. Of course, filling technique is different but all ingredients are identical.
Frozen filo for us, the younger generation, is inevitable. There are many brands and I believe one will satisfy you enough. Just make sure everything else to be of good quality and fresh. And if you still looking to come back to Greece, I'm single, loyal and my mom makes great pies. 🤣

Greek cuisine is so close to Armenian cuisine as well as Turkish cuisine as they all lived together for centuries. I’m Armenian and I cook everything that she cooked with some minor differences in spices as I was born and raised in the Middle East. One day I want to try to make the tomato dolma stuffed with rice and pine nuts and parsley which is an authentic Greek dish. I had it back home in an Armenian family from Greece and I loved it. I went online and found the recipe but I don’t think it is the same dolma that I had back home. Nothing online is authentic, they make changes to it and it doesn’t taste the same. Have a good day everybody.

Cabbage roll ups can be made with squash leaves too
This reminds me of such good memories of my American Grandmother who grew up during the great depression. She made cucumbers and tomatoes in apple cider vinegar all Summer, bean soup with “tomato” sauce (she used a little ketchup), and scrambled eggs and potatoes for breakfast. Whiting was the only fresh fish we ate as well. I’m amazed! Thank you for sharing with us. ❤
I hope everyone helped her wash up afterwards. There must have been a mountain of dishes to wadh every day 🙂
I loved those stuffed cabbage rolls, the preserved fruits, the coffee and breakfasts, especially 😊
Everything looks so good and so fresh! Those fritters...😍 Also, that dark chocolate cake with the crushed biscuits didn't look too bad either! I think every Mediterranean country has a version of that. Living in a desert, I'm so envious of your grandma's garden.
This reminds me of
Italy
I just realized that my RUclips had a incredible algorithm. I was find content like this in Greek food for a long time because I’m so obsessed with Greek culture especially food and now I found it I’m so grateful 🥺thank you for your precious and gorgeous video keep it great work

Very inspiring! I’ve got leftover beef and shall make a big salad of romaine, red onions, feta, tomatoes and fresh clementine. The only dressing will be lemon juice and olive oil. Your nona is brilliant.
Omg this looks really good and quite healthy too. A lot of fruits and vegetables and mostly boiled or oven baked it seems. Rarely fried. Give my regards from Sweden to your amazing grandmother!
Looks delicious! Can you please share ingredients used for cabbage rolls and tomato/cucumbers salad? 🙏🏻🙏🏻
A bit more info on ingredients for cabbage rolls in this video from a couple of yers ago: ruclips.net/video/apDM81fu6gU/видео.html . For the tomato/cucumbers salad, it's all about the seasoning: olive oil, dried oregano and salt. Thanks for watching!
🇦🇲💋
Same as Turkish. Food looks good
Mediterranean food is the healthiest food there is.
The bean soup with a fried egg in top and bread on side is EPIC
Greetings from the south west side of turkey. all of these look so delicious with simple ingiridients and also fulfilling!
I know that market smells amazing!! When I went to Algeria I was overwhelmed by all the smells and the brightness of the sun. The food is also very similar. Fresh vegetables, a little meat, something sweet and coffee, all made by loving hands. Of course the fruits 😍
The meals look delicious!
Thank you for showing glimpses of the garden, chickens and landscape ❤
I made 1st dish from the video today for dinner and it was really tasty! To have a garden is a bless :-) Thank you for insipring recipes!
That's so great! We made a video of her preparing that dish in 2022, with more details regarding ingredients etc. ruclips.net/video/KD9efo5VUbg/видео.html

Thanks for the beautiful video! Many of these dishes are nearly identical to many we make as a second course in southern Italy! So interesting to see these similarities,
Yummy fried potatoes wirh eggs and origano like my nanna used to make i am now aged 56
It’s a good organic fruit & veg rich diet that has everything in moderation. Exemplary diet.
I will be able to eat up all my homegrown zucchinis this year, thank you! ❤❤❤
Beautiful! Many thanks! Now I’M STARVING! 😆😆😆
Traditional authentic Greek cuisine there's nothing like it💙🇬🇷😋😋😋
Μπράβο γιαγιά για στα χέρια σου χρυσοχερα 👏👏👏💚💚💚
@AhmetCakar-ul8nr there's no "turkish" cuisine.
Everything Turkish it's stolen from Greeks Arabs and Persians.
Ottomans weren't even in the region when Greeks were making these dishes.
Try again kid.
@@accobra4272 Yes İts True. Turks stole everything. It is proven by historical documents that Yoğurt was created by Zeus. Socrates was a big fan of Dolmades. Alexander the Great was eating Mussakka every evening. King Konstantin never eats anything without Tzaziki. :))))))
@ahmetdagdelen6180 you are correct sir.
Good work reading history before you comment 👌
@@accobra4272 thanks. I am not blind to see. Zeus may save the orthodox Greeks to give us more delicious food.
@@ahmetdagdelen6180 amen 🙏
When i saw the cabbage being cooked whole like that, i knew what was coming: cabbage rolls 🥳 delish!
Ih biy oh boy oh boy! 😂❤🙋🏻♀️🥰🇨🇦💋Nommy time! I cannot afford this food even a days worth. You are really blessed.😢 Would be nice even one day to eat so well.😮
It's like Calabrese cooking but just slightly off..
Not better, not worse, but just a different aporaoch that adds much more flavors and ingredients to the more simple dishes of Southern Italy
It’s so much simillar to an ordinary Turkish family food. We’re the most common culture Greece and Türkiye… ❤️
Beautiful land and healthy food!❤ Thank you for sharing your daily life! I started my vegetable and flower garden now. Watching from Brazil.
