    #2987 A Rain-X Rescue With Instant, Outrageous & Stellar Cells, Fluid Acrylics Pouring 6.20.18
    I am using a 16"x20" stretched canvas. I use paint colors that are all pre-mixed with additives to help them flow more easily. I dump out a small container created from the bottom of a carton. I "ribbon-dribble" the paint colors from the carton's flat side onto a canvas. I have already primed the canvas with a layer of black paint. The wet coating of paint (applied with a large silicone spatula) will serve two purposes, the first one is to help the next paint I add flow more easily. The second is to add negative space. I tilt the canvas. The agitation caused by the paint stretching creates exciting patterns as the paint flows. I use a silicone spatula to separate some of the patterns. I manipulate the paint using my breath to force air through medical tubing moving paint. I also use a bamboo skewer to manipulate paint. I use the blunt end to make dots, and the length dipped into paint to spread it. Paint can be applied to the skewer and then added to the artwork. And finally, spritz with Rain-X original formula...to magical effect.
    My "pouring" mixture is 3/4 Floetrol with 1/4 (estimated) GAC800 from "Golden" (prevents cracking and adds shine to dry artwork.)mix into it thoroughly. Depending on the paint the amounts of color can vary. I like to begin with half pouring mixture and half color. After that is mixed VERY thoroughly I add more pouring mixture until the viscosity (thickness) is like warm hone. If I want it thinner I add more Pouring mixture. If the color is not strong enough I add more pigment. When mixing colors my amounts are always estimated and then altered to get the right consistency I like. I use plastic squeeze bottles with measurements on the side. I add a marble to my bottle to aid in the mixing process. Marbles work well but exercise caution if you end up with more than one they will shatter in the mixture eventually. It's imperative (Important) that all mixture be shaken thoroughly once before using in any session the first every time! The consistency is usually medium "body" weight, but other weights are usable with minor adjustments. All my acrylic paints are mixed in advance and contained and stored in squeeze bottles. If you are not using squeeze bottles, I suggest using a container that has a tight-fitting lid or seals the container with Glad sticky wrap. I have often used the 4oz size plastic deli containers, and the paint keeps for a long time in them, but you must stir before using the mix again. Floetrol and other flow agents will rise to the top between uses. None of my acrylic paint has any added silicone. To create the pearlescent effects seen in most of my artworks, I use "Golden's" Iridescent pearl "Fine" added to colors. I add a good squirt directly into whatever I am mixing in. I recommend experimenting to find out how much is enough for your ideal shimmer.
    Every day I learn new things. I will never stop experimenting, and I am happy to share what I discover with you.
    #2982 wet, shown in this video.

    I finally tried the Rain-X, with great success. And today, after seeing that the cells are still there, I'm thrilled. I'm still not brave enough to use a zillion colors like you do, although I think they're awesome. I'm still trying to use 5 or 6 and praying that they don't just become muddy. I think I have mastered the "scrape it off and try it again" technique though... it may waste paint but it saves on canvases, wood panels, etc.

    Please use Rain-X more often! No matter the change to the artwork, it’s worth it just to hear your delight! But two small items I would have liked to see you address (as only you can) are the lonely white, that is, give it a friend, and that small section on the edge, center, in front of you. I think I’d prefer all black there, or brighter color. Just my opinion. But the piece is cool, and was dramatic in the change you made with each manipulation!

    You are indeed my favorite Pour Art person! I learn so much from you....I appreciate how you show multiple ways of doing this and promote "experimenting." This painting is a masterpiece in my temporarily inexperienced opinion. I love how the cells popped out with the Rain-X. I have several cans of it down in my garage....I'm actually starting to take inventory of what all I have down there, in hopes to be able to use any of it so I will spend less money when I do my first project. Got a question...I have a hair dryer that gets pretty hot, it has three blow settings with the lowest setting barely putting out air...and, I have really curly hair and use a diffuser so it doesn't go all crazy wild. Can I use my hair dryer on that low setting with the diffuser, so I don't have to buy a torch????

    • @efluidartstudiopriscillab
      @efluidartstudiopriscillab  5 лет назад

      Thank you. First, if you try and use Rain-x make sure your paint mixture recipe is similar to mine or no guarantee it will work. Then, an actual heat gun never worked for me so I have serious doubts about hair dryers ( but its worth a try) the propane I use is 5.00 a tank and although I use an expensive torch head, there are package deals at the hardware store for a head with a tank for less than 20.00
      My head was 50.00 from Art Resin.com.I also do not recommend butane, I have 4 different torches and I used quality fuel and bled them all many times and they all quit. That was a wasted a hundred dollars!!!

If you've watched and seen the reaction ..the explosive proliferation of cells ...that's where the RainX comes in. Why is it important to remove the silicone from your pores after they dry and does the same thing apply to Rain-X if you use it

    • @efluidartstudiopriscillab
      @efluidartstudiopriscillab  5 лет назад

      Removing the silicone is really only important if your goal is to seal/finish the artwork with a coat of varnish or resin. I am usually unconcerned about the Rainx. I have always had serious doubts about being able to remove the RainX so I always figured I would deal with whatever I got by not even try to varnishing anyway.

I tried putting some drops of WD-40 silicone on one I did yesterday and when I got up this morning it was cracked. I don’t know if that had anything to do with it. It was also very cold where it was drying. Thank you for sharing your knowledge through your videos.

    • @efluidartstudiopriscillab

      The thickness of the paint will allow cracks if it very thick or your using PVC glue,in my experience (when there is no Goldens gac 800 in the mix ).But the cold may well have had something to do with it too.Sorry to hear about the crazing.The RainX is sparyed over the artwork and works well when you are using a similar mixture to the recipe I use .Other mixtures ,no guarenytee

    Do you seal your art pieces or add anything to keep them glossy?

    • @efluidartstudiopriscillab
      @efluidartstudiopriscillab  6 лет назад

      Sometimes.When I had Art Resin I used it on 20-30 pieces (the A.R. was a Christmas present).I have plenty of polycrylic when I'm ready or if its requested.A spray finish takes a few coats and there are plenty finished that way too .Not always shiny...they don't all need to stay shiny to be beautiful.I have hundreds and I'm still painting.I truly think it would be very difficult to guess how many hundreds of years "un protected "acrylics would last without and finish coat .It becomes a preference.When my website is up to date and I have ,space money and time to ship....maybe I will begin the massive project that is sorting out the best and finishing them .Ahh someday ....maybe.

      You are so very welcome .I will use what I learn doing this type of art and combine it with other abstract methods to make more "on purpose" compositions ...that prospect is exciting to me ...next level !

    Priscilla, when do you add Rainex to your paint and how much is needed?

    • @efluidartstudiopriscillab
      @efluidartstudiopriscillab  6 лет назад

      I never add RainX to my paint .When I use RainX its is RainX original formula only(in the bright yellow spray bottle) ...One single spritz above a wet artwork ...IF you are using a similar paint pouring recipe to mine ( included under the video below "show more ')

    • @efluidartstudiopriscillab
      @efluidartstudiopriscillab  6 лет назад +1

      You can use the Rain-X at the beginning or the end to create the patterns .One spritz of Original formula is usually all that's required .Spray from about 20" above the artwork.It is not added into the paint but spray above it

    For me, the most successful stage in the painting was at 11:01. There was a forceful diagonal composition broken up by the black negative space along the diagonals. At that point many of the colors were still vibrant. Later on through the continue manipulation they lost the initial beauty. For me a lot of cells distract from the overall view of an art work. This is just my objective analysis of the piece. Nothing more.

    Please Priscila what the torch does at the painting I am a person that enjoys painting. Don’t know much of techniques. Thanks

    • @efluidartstudiopriscillab
      @efluidartstudiopriscillab  6 лет назад

      the torch allows the bubbles that are in the paint to dissipate /burst /go away.And sometimes when you begin fluid acrylics artwork,the torch helps for the circular patterns we call "cells" ..like the shape of blood cells .Best done before the paint has too much time to spread or sit awhile.

      I never saw a butane torch that large. It is Butane isn't it? I tried rainx. I did get that wow feeling. It only worked with my white. Not sure why. Thanks for your videos.

      @@shariwilson1730 the rainXworks with my paint mix recipe the torch is propane....less expensive and more reliable! Tanks are 5.00 at hardware stores and last very long time .the tips range in price.

    Help me understand what you did with RainX. There was no picture of it, no sound of spraying. How did you apply it?? Is it liquid?? Can you give a link on amazon?
    Loved what it did. Love your excitement!! Love watching you paint and play

      One single spritz high 20 inches or more above and in this case to the left (bottle was sideways )with the air of 3 small fans blowing it over the painting( not important) just that single spritz caused ALL that reaction...I know you saw that .I'm sorry I have no camera angle or help filming ( of any kind ) but I am happy to tell you this is a trick anyone who wants cells and is not satisfied will LOVE.

    Priscilla, I tried to make a decent one time donation; however, there is only the ability to do a monthly pledge. How can I contribute one time as I am able?

    • @efluidartstudiopriscillab
      @efluidartstudiopriscillab  6 лет назад

      I just went to Patreon and checked to see whats possible .So depending on if you find it acceptable or not ...this might be a way to go.Make a pledge ,wait for the payment to be processed at the beginning on the month (soon-ish )and after you know it goes through just cancel your account at Patreon. Or I'm still attempting to work out pay-pal details ..

    I'm sorry but those don't look like cells to me they look like a skin condition that I've seen too many times in elderly people who were once rotting away at home because the family did not know how to take care of them with diseases including HIV cancerous lesions and syphilitic lesions, bubons and gonorrheal rashes from discharge uncleansed by the senile and the ignorant.
