Probably not if they made more than a surface level comment on it. 1860 Republicans were primarily in the Northern States and the Democrats were in the South. As well the salient Republican policies of the mid-1860s (activist “big” government, pro-income tax, pro-economic intervention) more or less match up to the Democratic policies of the early 2010s, while the Democratic policies of a century and a half ago (small “limited” government, pro-localism, pro-states’ rights) bear a striking resemblance to contemporary Republican views. just because you democract does not mean you liberal. when the guy took away the lunch box away from his son, told him does not give to republicans or hand out. that was PROGRESSIVE argument not LIBERAL.
I'm curious about this. In presidential elections, do Americans just vote for their political parties regardless of the candidate? For example, if Hitler became the Democratic or Republican Party candidate for the presidential election, would they still vote for him?
Probably about 90% do. Political parties are entire systems, such that it is difficult for an individual politician, even a president, to break ranks too much. For example, Biden was originally thought to be a moderate and mostly a caretaker President. However, once he entered office, he was pushed to the left by his party. Trump might be a bit of an exception in that he isn't a classic conservative and is extremely stubborn (for example, he is against free trade and federal limits on abortion, which are substantial differences with the vast, vast majority of other Republicans; rather than be pushed to the right though, he has mostly dragged the party to his direction). So, I could easily imagine people voting for or against him, even if it is a break in their normal voting patterns. It is unlikely that Hitler would get the nomination of either party. Nominees are determined via a competitive election, rather than chosen by party insiders. Presumably, a Hitler-like candidate would become obvious in that process and would not win the nomination.

Reminds me of that scene with ice cube's son in that movie the longshot
This whole idea has to stop for real.
just because you democract does not mean you liberal. when the guy took away the lunch box away from his son, told him does not give to republicans or hand out. that was PROGRESSIVE argument not LIBERAL.
I'm curious about this. In presidential elections, do Americans just vote for their political parties regardless of the candidate? For example, if Hitler became the Democratic or Republican Party candidate for the presidential election, would they still vote for him?
Yes they would
Probably about 90% do.
They should have had him wear a sweater vest.
Poor Chicago
And Mississippi? Surely republicans have made a wonderful place after all these DECADES.
I wonder where they stand now? Lol!
They're probably still Democrats, they're rich remember. They don't feel the American economy much
@@phoenix_xd5728 lol. Still Biden should have at least give them pause since the debate
@@cuttermasterson true but I don't have much hope in democrats across the world 🤦
