I've been listening to "Friend" on repeat! Here are some of my thoughts:
- I love Hunter's singing (obv), both when he's singing softly and when he's belting out the high notes ❤️
- the strings sound so beautiful 🎻 and I wonder if Hunter arranged them himself or if someone else did
- I think it's interesting that there's hardly any percussion; it's very restrained and I admire that!
- when he used the word "lonely" as a noun rather than an adjective, it reminded me of the song "Trouble With Love" when he sang, "The trouble with lonely is it sleeps right there beside you"

Hunter's voice and lyrics always speak to my heart, but this song touched me really hard. Especially the part when he says "I went from waking up with you / To lonely filling up the room /To knowing you could never love me at my darkest". I know what's like to be lonely/depressed/vulnerable and no one seems to understand that. When you just need a friend to hold you tight.

It’s incredible and a high privilege within itself to see all of these amazing things unfold on this blazing- RedSky journey. Friend- this song HITS in so many places that are too relatable and felt. This was the OUCH of realization I needed in a song to push me forward in my blockage in life at the moment. Hunter, you always exceed on creating the most heart touching and beautifully heartbreaking lyrics one after another. If I could describe you as an object, I would say you act as a boomerang that bounces back after every single song release, just to continuously kill it back to back with no faults. The hard work and time is seen, heard & appreciated

The emotion in your voice echoes through us, I think. The imagery in this video helps, and the camera work is incredible. Incredible work from the team.
I’ve seen him in concert and wow he can sing so good but he can play so many instruments and well not just a little here and there he can play them as if he played each instrument and only that one he’s so talented I LOVE Hunter Hayes he would be a coach or mentor on The Voice!!!
