  • During this short video, Jason discusses and demonstrates dedicated and improvised methods of gaining entry into vehicles. This video is taken from the Redback One - High Risk Vehicle Tactics Course.
To be classified as a dedicated glass breaking tool, it must break the glass first hit and maintain 100% effectiveness. If not it is relegated as an improvised method.
The first tool being used is a commercially available glass breaking tool being used for the first time. The next tool used is the duty / service carbine. With good understanding and experience, the M4 can make a good improvised tool with high success rates and provide personnel with lethal force options when needed.
Be sure that when conducting high risk vehicle operations that you have a clear understanding of target and select an appropriate method of entry to ensure a successful outcome.
During snap VCP's, felony stops or targets of opportunity, there may not be time to make elaborate plans and you may need to roll with what you've got. Having a good understanding of glass breaking methods both dedicated and improvised might just be the difference between success and failure.
