Should try the old fashion Bakuteh at 德地肉骨茶,the 盛发肉骨茶 1st generation boss actually son of the 德地肉骨茶 original boss (李文地), now 德地肉骨茶 still manage by 3rd generation boss. The soup is thick, and can't add soup, no soya sauce or chilli. This is original one. Should be like this... Those shops can add soup normally already added with msg or soup with additional seasoning as they add more water in the soup.

Always enjoy your well thought out balanced food review!! Like learning something new about our culinary history ! Thanks for the insights!! At the moment just have to do with the supermarket Bak Kut Teh condiments which is nothing close to the real macoy! Still, it will do for the cold grey UK weather!! Looking forward to having the real treat!!
I have always praised Klang BKT for many years as being the best in Malaysia. Sadly not anymore. Klang BKT standard dropped so severely over the past few years.
Thanks for the great video. In klang you will not find a bad BKT stall. Its hard to say which is my favorite cause in klang there are many to choose from. There is one in pandamaran where they put dried cuttle fish and cili padi. Love it. :)
Good reviews.. well done. Have eaten at 6 of your 8 already. My favourite is Mo Sang Kor at Berkeley for the traditional one bowl rice and one bowl BKT.. The dry ones are Chow Kiat and Teluk Pulai. with dry sotong and dry chilli. Yeo's BKT at Hokkien Association is also very good although soup is less "thick". 158 is good but they have many other dishes and always crowded for both morning and afternoon sessions (run by different members of family. Will want to see your next list of 8 (Highly recommended by Klang residents )
Hi Elmo. Thanks for making these videos and definitely keep it up especially with the historical or interesting elements of the food. I hail from Klang myself and infact Teluk Pulai is where I grew up as a kid. I have since moved to Australia and these 2 years have not been able to travel back for the good food, see friends and family members. Watching your videos brings back fond memories of places I used to visit and makes me miss home all the more. I look forward to watching more of your videos.
Wow, this video must be at least 2 more years ago, now Klang river got LRT3 track under construction liao. U r right, no best BKT, its the taste that u prefer, good reviews.
Haha jia bao bkt style bkt one of my prefer style .. jalan kapar 1 also nice.. many place in klang valley also nice .. but I'm most prefer 1 is on tawau cook by klang people where colour is coklat color..bkt too many varieties to differentiate.. seafood bkt also nice but cannot mix have to be only 1 type , clam or ketam only.. way of slicing bkt meat also affecting the meat texture
I generally don't like bkt meat just the soup. However, i loved the one offered in Genting Highlands cafeteria within casino premises. Maybe it was shiok to eat hot soup in cold environment. Sad they only offered it late at night. Haven't been there for years already so don't know whether it is still on the menu.
Hi Elmo .. take good care of yr health 1st .. we need more delicious review from you . Dont stop producing unbiased and fair review. Bah Kut Teh is klang is generally good .. to select best of 8 .. its really tough ! Keep it up !
I have been told many stories of the origin of Bak Kut Teh, the most interesting the story of Lee Cher Tee - the man who started it. Lee Cher Tee started out as a street vendor opposite the Train Station in the town of Klang where the goods were loaded and unloaded. The formulation, as legend says it, partly from ingredients he would collect from trailings of herbs that were offloaded from the station. The Hokkien name for Tee is pronounced “Teh” and his childhood nickname was “Ah Teh”. His customers and friends gave him the nickname of “Bak Kut Teh” and that is how the legend started. He eventually would open a shop and his offsprings and relatives would go on to found other shops. Names such as Lee Kee Hiong, Mo Sang Kor in one way or other related to him. The famous Seng Huat shop or “under the bridge shop” of Jalan Besar is part of the family tree.
Ahh.. i didnt even know the name was Chow Kiat.. I always called them Fei Por. Shop so clean d... @elmolee how many bkt you whacked in a week to do this? can tahan ah? And yes, I too prefer original one bowl one rice concept. Even dry ones i think its a rawang adaptation. Have a try ah suee at tepi sg.
I used to get a similar dish called Kway Chap in Singapore, is that related to BKT? It's also a soup with pork parts but without the herbs I think. It's pretty tasty too.
@@wongcw08 I was born in Klang and BKT is my favourite dish... I know about BKT but taste is very subjective. With Kway Chap, It is not just innards (there are other parts) there is also the flat noodle component that is unique :)

Any history why bak kut teh includes yau char kuey?

I dun think they r the same rajesh
it is just plain intestine soup. probably a branch from pork belly soup...plenty of pepper and women love that. good for womb
It is different. The disj you mention is mostly innards in pepper soup. Klang style BKT is much richer and tastier.
