Jonathan, I had been really struggling navigating the Vulcan and am certain that it is covered in the manual however, at 72 when needing to learn something new I find it much easier to watch a video as you have done. Straight, simple and easily to follow, absolutely brilliant and hoping that you will continue making videos on the Vulcan in this format and look forward to watching more. Very many thanks.

Great stuff. Thx. This is literally the only full AP Vulcan video on YT.

I'm finding that it works sometimes, but then the pull button become unresponsive after a while, and somewhat randomly.

Excellent tutorial. Much appreciated. Just purchased this fine aircraft. Full of bespoke history. A marvel to fly in MSFS and JustFlight have done an amazing job in capturing the sounds. Yes I have seen this beauty fly at airshows. This is a timely tutorial as I wanted to to do a full analogue flight, so to speak, from one RAF base to another. This helps a lot and saved hours of study. But of course it is a pleasure and not a chore to study the manual. But finding time away from our busy real lives is not always easy. You can easily say goodbye to a whole weekend in this aircraft !!, if not weeks. It is complicated, but really interesting. Thank you again.

dude, thank you for the video. just completed my second flight in the Vulcan and am really struggling to get the AP to follow VORs. about to do my third flight in the bird after watching your video and im sure things will be much better now i have an actual understanding of how it works. i tried reading the manual, but honestly find it a bit confusing. your video was not at all confusing, so thanks again for it. happy flying :)

Good video, Jonathan. Just Flight say they've had too much on their plate to do tutorial videos, but will be starting soon. That certainly rings true - the Vulcan must have been an almighty effort for them. It really is the most interesting aircraft in MSFS at the moment.

Thank you, an informative video with useful advice on an archaic autopilot. I did spot a couple of points that were not too accurate with your use of other systems.
At time 03:38 you told people you needed the IFF in Norm for the Tacan to work. You only need the Tacan in T/R, IFF has nothing to do with it. Also Tacan uses Channels, not Frequencies.
At Time 13:12 "look at Whiskey compass for actual Hdg". Not good advice unless straight and level and constant speed. Anything else and there are too many errors and these are modeled in MSFS.

Have you managed to get the MSFS automated checklist to work in this aircraft, Jonathan? The one which enables you to auto complete each page?

Going to be honest, I’ve got all the systems ostensibly figured out EXCEPT the autopilot. Hopefully this helps me w this 😅.

I noticed the O2 flow indicator turned white. Was this changed, seem to remember mid to late 60 sixtes it was a bar.

      Hello Jonathan Beckett,
Thank you for taking the time to assist mate, yeah I see now there is TACANS on the MSFS map(never noticed them before) .. I have updated the MSFS scenery into LNM but still no TACANS show up they are not even listed in the navaid search bar .. it appears from what I just read on redit you need to have a Navigraph subscription to enable TACAN in LNM. I do not have a subscription unfortunately and am unable to have subscribe at present.. wife would cut me off(literally)😂.. however MSFS map in conjunction with LNM will be sufficient to use them(they seem to be quite sparse).. I've also updated to v11 of the Vulcan which has a much improved Radio/AP in the EFB. still trying to get to geips with the Vulcans peculiar HSI/CDI , but its an amazing experience to fly with and unlike anything in the Sim so far..
thanks for your information and I enjoy your channel greatly mate.. cheers Jonathon Beckett!

Thank you, I couldn’t find this in the manual. In your example of approach mode at the end would the autopilot follow the glideslope?

    • @jonbeckett
      @jonbeckett  9 месяцев назад

Yes - if instructed to do so.

I deleted mine. It behaves very weird in the air, and I also get callouts thats not suitable (landing callouts in mid air). There is somethning with JF:s mods that make them kind of FPS heavy as well, and being a fan with first the piper-pack, the T1 and now this (got it long time ago), I think they are going in the wrong direction, it also feels like ages for them to fix things I think. =/

It may be the control scheme you are using - I think I saw JustFlight mention that it only works in Legacy / Classic mode at the moment with the mouse - not the modern/XBox scheme ?

I believe he used Little Navmaps to locate them but I cant get LNMs to show TACAN stations so unsure how he did this.. searched all over the net and read manual but I have no idea how you enable TACANs on little navmaps, I you find out please post I'd like to try this in the Vulcan also..

Load the scenery database from MSFS in LittleNavMap, and the TACAN stations should show up :)
