O’Kellys are my top three on youtube for sailing. Repairs, buying, fixing, maint - I think they are the best by far. I mean how cool was it when they bought their boat from the moorings - crazy! Thank you
I've been watching sailing channels for almost a year now and there are SOOO many great channels but I have to say I REALLY look forward to your videos every week and glad to patronize your channel. Finally, jumping into the comments to thank you all!
Awesome a real sailing video these are rare, I know because cruising is only a few precent sailing. Nick could you do a video about reading the weather, clouds ect, I think a lot of people could learn from you.
Thursday- with our favorite couple the O'Kelly's. How nice. I will have to comment then to my friends. You know where to look for my lengthy response to this. Good to see you both again. Welcome Back to the Bay.
Hello my dear friends! Guau, this episode was espectacular. Those camera moments while sailing are incredible! See you next week. Cheers from Canary Islands!
Another brilliant episode. I called in my land-lubber-hubby (he can’t help it. He was raised in Queens) …. I wanted him to see your beautiful offshore segment.
Always a pleasure to watch such positive people. Yours videos are always interesting, full of logic and reasoning. What fantastic life to live, exploring the world by yacht.
The two of you work well together for certain. It was wonderful to see you both at ease and enjoying the moments that are what it's all about. Great video! Tim and Tammie
Once you are out of that marina, please do a video and talk about them a bit and drop a link to them. I like that haulout-by-bridgedeck approach quite a bit.
G'day from a sunny Sydney. What a wonderful gratitude list Megan...to see you share in the middle of the ocean brings forth how much you are living our program. The best is still to come Megan. ODAAT. Take care, safe travels. By far my favourite yachting couple on the big blue sea.
Hey kids..., I enjoyed the trip. Hope Clarity's overhaul gives her vitality she deserves & you guys too. Enjoy the land for a while. I'll be ready again when you guys are..., thanks.
Loved this episode - especially the opening off-deck wide angle views of Clarity 👍 Great that you had such perfect weather and could enjoy the passage, prior to getting the boat hauled out for a while. Looking forward to seeing what projects you have planned. ATB from the UK
Sailing smoothly through the " Graveyard of the Atlantic " is a WIN! 😉 Safe travels on the hard you two...lots of anger on the byways these days. Looking forward to those projects. 👍
Had to pause at 1m35s to give you the shout out. Nice intro. Good music, very mood setting. Relaxing, yet with a slight tinge of something serious to come.
@@TheOKellys Problem is, with covid the whole closing date is a complete tossup. Got tickets booked, hotel booked, waiting on approval from BVI gateway, and now, who knows if the boat's even going to be ready by the 24th... Ah well, is what it is. Things will happen when they're meant to.
Yeh the boat will be late, there are going to be problems...there always are and there always will be. It was always like that....covid is just another one... But yeh, like you say, just go with it and enjoy the ride...that's the whole lesson with all of this.... If BVI boat and going to refit, give St Maarten a think....can get most of what you need in most cases. Plus they have good food there.
@@TheOKellys Only problem with St.Maarten is the shipping times. Here, I can order or fabricate practically anything and have it delivered in 2 days. Granted, it's a days drive to/from Knoxville, but meh. I don't have much else to do.
Really nice passage video. The rookie sailor in me gets all excited when I see the video display and hear sail talk. Close reach..... oooh. I'd like to learn more about replacing the GenSet with one of the main engines. On one hand it seems so obvious, but then why isn't everyone doing it already?
Hey Nick, can you really trust AIS in the night in a heavy shipping area? I know in the Philippines (on the news) the Chinese turn off their AIS so there position in coastal water can't be seen.. but anywhere could be dicy if you can't see. Cheers 🥂🍺
Beautiful videos. Beautiful sharing of your thoughts and feelings. Thanks! What are the lines going under the bows? Are they just looped under or are they attached to something under the water line? Do they abrade on the bottom of the hull?
I'm just a little jealous. Everytime I go on the outside, conditions are crap. Little to no wind and swell from 2 different directions. Inlets with no navigation aids and shallow water. I was headed to Philadelphia. I made as far as Southport, NC. Dropped the hook in an anchorage that was sketchy getting into, but it turned out to be a great place for the week I was there. Nice spot to ride out 30 and 40 knot winds and thunderstorms. Last Monday I pulled anchor and went back to Little River, SC where I'm tied to a dock and the A/C cranked up. Going to stay here until I feel like going back to Florida.
@@TheOKellys A few things happened up North that changed my plans. Oh well, it is what it is. I'll just play "tourist" while I'm here and enjoy myself.
Dunno if you can, but perhaps consider making the Patreon names font less solid or partly transparent or outline only? Just makes the names readable while also allowing the video through. Excellent vid as usual. Thanks for sharing.
You had to wait for a high tide? When I was in Chesapeake on my Catri 24 in 2007 the tidal range was only about 1ft! The wind had more effect than the tide! Has something changed?

Lol. I hear ya, but that would add a level of complexity that would sink the ship. We are about to skip some boring stuff and go from a few weeks later to close to real time. If we tried to explain what came in between it would confuse all of us! Lol
Sailing Doodles has started adding film dates to their videos. A lot of sailors, especially women, don't want people to figure out where they are for security reasons. Lots of nut jobs out there and being at anchor on a sailboat isn't always very secure, especially in the tropics where you most likely have hatches open for ventilation.

Nice video. K.I.S.S. less moving parts the better. Does a fixed blade prop make that much difference in performance vs cost and reliablilty?
